Abstract

Bimanual dexterous grasping is a fundamental and promising area in robotics, yet its progress is constrained by the lack of comprehensive datasets and powerful generation models. In this work, we propose BiDexGrasp, consisting of a large-scale bimanual dexterous grasp dataset and a novel learning-based framework. For dataset construction, we propose a novel bimanual grasp synthesis pipeline to efficiently annotate physically feasible data. This pipeline addresses the challenges of high-dimensional bimanual grasping through a two-stage synthesis strategy of efficient region-based grasp initialization and decoupled force-closure grasp optimization. Powered by this pipeline, we construct a large-scale bimanual dexterous grasp dataset, comprising 6351 diverse objects with sizes ranging from 30 to 80 cm, along with 9.53 million annotated grasp data. Based on this dataset, we further introduce a novel learning-based dexterous grasping generation framework. The framework lies in two key designs: a bimanual coordination module and a geometry-size-adaptive grasp generation strategy to generate coordinated and high-quality grasps on unseen objects. Extensive experiments conducted in both simulation and real world demonstrate the superior performance of our proposed data synthesis pipeline and learned generative framework.

Real-World Cooperative Bimanual Dexterous Grasp of Large Objects from Single-View Observations

Bimanual dexterous grasping of large objects is a critical challenge in robotic manipulation. However, most existing studies focus on sequential manipulation rather than cooperative grasping, and methods addressing such bimanual tasks have largely been limited to simulation. These limitations stem from the difficulty of acquiring full 3D object models and generating physically plausible grasping actions. To fill this gap, we propose a real-world bimanual grasping framework that includes: a multimodal dataset capturing joint angles, visual observations and force signals; a Denoising Diffusion Probabilistic Model (DDPM)-based module that generates joint-level grasp configurations from segmented point clouds; and an execution strategy that integrates motion planning with online grasp refinement to ensure physical stability and feasibility. Our approach enables the synthesis of executable bimanual grasps from single-view inputs, reducing dependence on complete 3D object models and ensuring stable real-world performance. Experiments on a dual-arm robot demonstrate high success rates across unseen objects with varying geometries and poses, and ablation studies confirm the contributions of key components of our system.

HUGS: Guiding Unified Dexterous Grasp Synthesis Across Modes and Scales via Learned Human Priors

Dexterous grasping across diverse object scales requires contact modes ranging from two-finger pinches to bimanual grasps. Existing dexterous grasp synthesis methods reduce the high-dimensional optimization space with manually designed expected contacts and initialization heuristics, which struggle to balance synthesis success rate and diversity. We present HUGS (Human-prior-guided Unified Dexterous Grasp Synthesis), a human-prior-guided framework for unified dexterous grasp synthesis across modes and scales. Instead of directly retargeting human demonstrations, HUGS learns an object-conditioned human prior that captures human grasp preferences and guides downstream force-closure-aware optimization. The prior is trained on a compact self-collected human grasp dataset with 1.8K grasps over 304 objects, providing broad coverage of object scales and contact modes. During synthesis, HUGS adaptively proposes contact modes and wrist initializations, substantially improving the balance between contact-mode coverage and synthesis success rate over heuristic-based methods. With HUGS, we synthesize 3.2M robotic grasps over 157K scenes, spanning object half-diagonal lengths from 2 cm to 30 cm and modes from two-finger to bimanual grasps. Models trained on the synthesized dataset autonomously select appropriate contact modes in the real world, enabling grasping from screws to large boxes.

HRDexDB: A Paired Human-Robot Dataset for Cross-Embodiment Dexterous Grasping

We present HRDexDB, a paired cross-embodiment dexterous grasping dataset of high-fidelity dexterous grasping sequences featuring both human and diverse robotic hands. Unlike existing datasets, HRDexDB provides a comprehensive collection of grasping trajectories across human hands and multiple robot hand embodiments, spanning 100 diverse objects. Leveraging state-of-the-art vision methods and a dedicated multi-camera system, HRDexDB offers high-precision spatiotemporal 3D ground-truth motion for both the agent and the manipulated object. The dataset comprises 2.1K grasping trials, each enriched with synchronized visual and kinematic modalities, with contact-force signals available for tactile-enabled robotic hands. By providing closely aligned captures of human dexterity and robotic execution on the same target objects under comparable grasping motions, HRDexDB serves as a foundational benchmark for cross-embodiment dexterous manipulation.
