Abstract

Cloud detection in remote sensing imagery is a fundamental, critical, and highly challenging problem. Existing deep learning-based cloud detection methods generally formulate it as a single-stage pixel-wise binary segmentation task with one forward pass. However, such single-stage approaches exhibit ambiguity and uncertainty in thin-cloud regions and struggle to accurately handle fragmented clouds and boundary details. In this paper, we propose a novel deep learning framework termed CloudMamba. To address the ambiguity in thin-cloud regions, we introduce an uncertainty-guided two-stage cloud detection strategy. An embedded uncertainty estimation module is proposed to automatically quantify the confidence of thin-cloud segmentation, and a second-stage refinement segmentation is introduced to improve the accuracy in low-confidence hard regions. To better handle fragmented clouds and fine-grained boundary details, we design a dual-scale Mamba network based on a CNN-Mamba hybrid architecture. Compared with Transformer-based models with quadratic computational complexity, the proposed method maintains linear computational complexity while effectively capturing both large-scale structural characteristics and small-scale boundary details of clouds, enabling accurate delineation of overall cloud morphology and precise boundary segmentation. Extensive experiments conducted on the GF1_WHU and Levir_CS public datasets demonstrate that the proposed method outperforms existing approaches across multiple segmentation accuracy metrics, while offering high efficiency and process transparency. SPLG-Mamba: Structure-Preserving Local-Global Mamba Network for Salient Object Detection in Optical Remote Sensing Images

Salient object detection in optical remote sensing images (ORSI-SOD) requires dense predictions that preserve object completeness and structural continuity under complex backgrounds, scale variation, and irregular object shapes. Existing methods often localize salient regions, but their predictions may still suffer from structural degradation, including fragmented, incomplete, or locally missing foreground responses. This degradation is closely related to hierarchical feature propagation, where shallow details can introduce texture-induced background responses, deep semantics may over-smooth weak structures, and uncontrolled cross-scale fusion can disturb coherent regions. To address this issue, we propose a novel Structure-Preserving Local-Global Mamba Network, SPLG-Mamba, for ORSI-SOD. Specifically, SPLG-Mamba integrates Smooth-Detail Recalibration (SDR), hierarchy-aware Local-Global Mamba, and Gated Cross-Scale Fusion (GCSF). SDR recalibrates smoothed responses and detail residuals before state-space modeling, Local-Global Mamba assigns local modeling to shallow feature levels and global modeling to deep feature levels, and GCSF controls cross-scale detail injection during decoding. Experiments on ORSSD, EORSSD, and ORSI-4199 demonstrate state-of-the-art results and improved structural completeness and continuity. The code is available at https://github.com/yxu9910/SPLG-Mamba

LCMamNet: A Lightweight Cross-scale Mamba Network for Infrared Small Target Detection

Infrared small target detection (IRSTD) is important for low-altitude perception, unmanned-system warning, and security monitoring. However, weak targets in infrared imagery usually occupy only a few pixels and are easily submerged by cloud clutter, ground edges, and bright noise, making it difficult for lightweight segmentation-based methods to preserve local target structures while suppressing background interference. To address these challenges, we propose LCMamNet, a lightweight cross-scale Mamba network that progressively enhances local target structures, interacts cross-scale context in a latent space, and restores spatial details with background suppression. Specifically, a compact hierarchical encoder with cross-shaped directional bottleneck residual (CDBR) blocks strengthens direction-sensitive target structures under a small computation budget. A latent dense cross-scale fusion (LDCF) module then performs dense all-level interaction through bidirectional Mamba modeling and reorganizes the interacted features into stable hierarchical semantics. Finally, a progressive decoder selectively recovers shallow spatial details while suppressing irrelevant background textures. Extensive experiments on IRSTD-1k, NUAA-SIRST, and NUDT-SIRST show that the proposed network achieves mIoU scores of 71.25%, 79.60%, and 95.58%, respectively, with only 1.175M parameters and 6.91 GFLOPs. It also runs with a mean inference latency of 6.62 ms, and deployment results on an NVIDIA Jetson Orin NX 16G SUPER further demonstrate its practical potential for real-time edge inference. MambaMPD: A Mamba-Driven Segmentation Framework for Marine Pollution Detection from Remote Sensing Imagery

Accurate marine pollution detection (MPD) is essential for protecting coastal ecosystems and marine biodiversity. Vision Mamba models have shown promise in remote-sensing semantic segmentation by efficiently capturing long-range dependencies and global context, yet their potential for MPD remains underexplored. MPD is particularly challenging because of low signal-to-noise ratios, fragmented pollution patterns, and indistinct boundaries caused by the visual similarity between pollutants and the surrounding sea. To address these issues, we propose MambaMPD, an enhanced Mamba-based framework incorporating two complementary structural priors: Frequency-Aware Augmentation (FAA) and multi-scale Edge-Guided Attention (EGA). FAA integrates wavelet transforms into the encoder to decompose features into multi-scale frequency subbands, enabling the model to capture low-frequency contextual semantics and high-frequency structural details needed to identify small, low-contrast, and irregular pollution patterns. EGA adaptively fuses hierarchical, Laplacian-derived boundary cues with deep semantic representations, refining encoder features before decoding to sharpen boundaries and reduce ambiguity in visually confusing, spatially fragmented scenes. Together, these modules improve sensitivity to subtle pollution signals while preserving fine boundary structures. A U-Net-style decoder with squeeze-and-excitation attention and deep supervision progressively restores and refines semantic and spatial information across scales. Extensive experiments on two benchmark MPD datasets show that MambaMPD achieves higher mIoU than competing methods while requiring substantially less computation than foundation-model-based approaches. On MADOS, it improves F1 by 3.6% over OSDMamba; on M4D, it raises Oil Spill IoU by 6.82% over TransOilSeg.
