Abstract

Restoring incomplete or damaged 3D objects is crucial for cultural heritage preservation, occluded object reconstruction, and artistic design. Existing methods primarily focus on geometric completion, often neglecting texture restoration and struggling with relatively complex and diverse objects. We introduce Restore3D, a novel framework that simultaneously restores both the shape and texture of broken objects using multi-view images. To address limited training data, we develop an automated data generation pipeline that synthesizes paired incomplete-complete samples from large-scale 3D datasets. Central to Restore3D is a multi-view model, enhanced by a carefully designed Mask Self-Perceiver module with a Depth-Aware Mask Rectifier. The rectified masks learned by the self-perceiver guide an image integration and enhancement phase, helping retain observed shape and texture patterns while refining the generated regions and mitigating the low-resolution limitations of the base model, yielding high-resolution, semantically coherent, and view-consistent multi-view images. A coarse-to-fine reconstruction strategy is then employed to recover detailed textured 3D meshes from refined multi-view images. Experiments on synthetic and real broken-object benchmarks show that Restore3D improves multi-view restoration quality and textured-mesh reconstruction over representative inpainting, completion, and reconstruction baselines in the evaluated settings. Axolotl3D: a Unified Framework for Faithful 3D Shape Completion

Recent 3D generative models produce high-quality geometry from a single image using large-scale priors and diffusion architectures. However, they assume complete visibility and single-view inputs, limiting applicability in multi-view, occluded, or editing scenarios. Although prior works address these challenges individually, they lack a unified framework for controllable 3D completion under diverse conditioning signals. We present Axolotl3D, a multi-modal and occlusion-aware 3D generation model that jointly conditions on images, visibility masks, camera parameters, and a partial point cloud. The point cloud serves as a geometric anchor promoting faithful shape completion, while camera parameters ensure consistent multi-view alignment in a shared 3D coordinate system. A unified training strategy synthesizes diverse conditioning regimes from large-scale 3D data, enabling robust cross-modal reasoning. Experiments on Toys4K and OmniObject3D demonstrate state-of-the-art performance under both clean and occluded settings, as well as strong results in real-world reconstruction and geometry-consistent editing.

Reconstruction by Generation: 3D Multi-Object Scene Reconstruction from Sparse Observations

Accurately reconstructing complex full multi-object scenes from sparse observations remains a core challenge in computer vision and a key step toward scalable and reliable simulation for robotics. In this work, we introduce RecGen, a generative framework for probabilistic joint estimation of object and part shapes, as well as their pose under occlusion and partial visibility from one or multiple RGB-D images. By leveraging compositional synthetic scene generation and strong 3D shape priors, RecGen generalizes across diverse object types and real-world environments. RecGen achieves state-of-the-art performance on complex, heavily occluded datasets, robustly handling severe occlusions, symmetric objects, object parts, and intricate geometry and texture. Despite using nearly 80% fewer training meshes than the previous state of the art SAM3D, RecGen outperforms it by 30.1% in geometric shape quality, 9.1% in texture reconstruction, and 33.9% in pose estimation.

Sparse-to-Complete: From Sparse Image Captures to Complete 3D Scenes

We introduce S2C-3D, a novel sparse-view 3D reconstruction framework for high-fidelity and complete scene reconstruction from as few as six to eight images. Our framework features three components: a specialized diffusion model for scene-specific image restoration, a training-free view-consistency conditioned sampling process in the diffusion model for refined Gaussian optimization, and a camera trajectory planning scheme to ensure comprehensive scene coverage. The specialized diffusion model is developed by finetuning a pretrained architecture on the input views and their corresponding degraded counterparts. The adaptation to the scene distribution allows the model to repair Gaussian renderings while effectively eliminating domain gaps. Meanwhile, the trajectory planning scheme optimizes scene coverage by connecting each newly sampled camera to its two nearest neighbors. By iteratively constructing paths and retaining only those that significantly enhance visibility, the scheme establishes a trajectory that covers the entire scene. To address multi-view conflicts, the view-consistency conditioned sampling process quantifies the consistency between neighboring repaired images. This information is injected as a condition into the sampling process of the frozen diffusion model, facilitating the generation of view-consistent images without additional training. Consequently, our approach produces high-fidelity 3D Gaussians that are robust to artifacts. Experimental results demonstrate that S2C-3D outperforms state-of-the-art methods, constructing high-quality scenes that are free from missing regions, blurring, or other artifacts with very sparse inputs.
