Abstract

Fuzzy Integral (FI) based aggregation provides a powerful mechanism for nuanced aggregation, for example, in ensemble approaches or decision-level fusion more generally. The main challenge of this approach is the appropriate parametrization of the Fuzzy Measure (FM), which captures the worths of the individual components--and their combinations--which are being fused. Here, widely used approaches including the Sugeno-λλ and Decomposable FMs, parametrize the FM by extrapolating from the densities, i.e. the weights associated with individual sources, while respecting the FM's monotonicity constraint. This paper articulates that this information is, in general, insufficient to uniquely identify a discrete FM; but shows how an interval-valued FM can indeed be determined uniquely. We proceed to show how the incorporation of additional information beyond the above, such as the choice of a specific FI and a dataset, then allows for obtaining even more specific interval-valued FMs. In practice, establishing the quality of an empirically determined FM is not trivial. To help address this, we show how the likelihood with which a resulting interval FM encompasses the ideal', i.e. the commonly intangible, best, or ground-truth numeric FM, can be determined, producing a confidence interval at a given confidence level. Finally, based on a series of experiments, we demonstrate empirically that the Choquet FI output based on this FM can also be regarded as the confidence interval for the ideal' information fusion result, providing a novel means to characterize FI fusion outcomes a priori and charting a pathway for future research.

Compositional Boundaries for Density Fusion

Distributed uncertainty-management systems often combine local probabilistic models along aggregation trees chosen by communication, privacy, or scheduling constraints. The final density should depend on the weighted sources, not on the particular order in which intermediate nodes combine them. We study this requirement as an algebraic compositionality problem for binary fusion of weighted probability densities. The central question is when a local fusion rule can be executed hierarchically while remaining order-invariant. We establish a compositional boundary for local segment-valued fusion rules. Within the class of continuous binary rules with additive output weights and weight-only coefficients, order-invariant hierarchical execution characterizes normalized weighted linear pooling; norm-induced segment balancing realizes the corresponding coefficient. Smooth endpoint-to-candidate ff-divergence balancing has a different local geometry: its quadratic expansion induces square-root effective weights, showing why pairwise solvability alone is insufficient for schedule-independent fusion. We show that this obstruction is local to endpoint-to-candidate binary balancing, whereas global divergence barycenters retain additive-weight local limits. Finally, Gaussian mixtures show how the same issue appears in finite model classes: exact fusion is compositional, whereas stepwise compression is compositional only under a congruence condition on unnormalized component measures. These results distinguish exact schedule-independent fusion from global aggregation objectives and local approximation heuristics.

Evidential Information Fusion on Possibilistic Structure

Dempster's rule is a fundamental tool for combining belief functions from distinct and reliable sources. However, its intersection-based semantics imposes strong structural restrictions, which limits its flexibility in handling complex source states and diverse information fusion scenarios. To overcome this limitation, we propose a reversible transformation, derived from the isopignistic principle, between belief functions and a possibilistic structure defined on the power set. In this transformation, the relationships among subsets are explicitly characterized by a belief evolution network, which provides a more flexible representation of evidential information beyond the conventional mass function structure. On this basis, we further introduce the triangular norm family to develop a general and adaptive evidential information fusion framework. Unlike fusion methods rooted in Dempster semantics, the proposed framework supports more flexible combination behaviors and exhibits advantages in non-distinct source fusion, conflict management, parametric combination design, and heterogeneous information fusion.

Double Fuzzy Probabilistic Interval Linguistic Term Set and a Dynamic Fuzzy Decision Making Model based on Markov Process with tts Application in Multiple Criteria Group Decision Making

The probabilistic linguistic term has been proposed to deal with probability distributions in provided linguistic evaluations. However, because it has some fundamental defects, it is often difficult for decision-makers to get reasonable information of linguistic evaluations for group decision making. In addition, weight information plays a significant role in dynamic information fusion and decision making process. However, there are few research methods to determine the dynamic attribute weight with time. In this paper, I propose the concept of double fuzzy probability interval linguistic term set (DFPILTS). Firstly, fuzzy semantic integration, DFPILTS definition, its preference relationship, some basic algorithms and aggregation operators are defined. Then, a fuzzy linguistic Markov matrix with its network is developed. Then, a weight determination method based on distance measure and information entropy to reducing the inconsistency of DFPILPR and obtain collective priority vector based on group consensus is developed. Finally, an aggregation-based approach is developed, and an optimal investment case from a financial risk is used to illustrate the application of DFPILTS and decision method in multi-criteria decision making.
