Abstract

We present an autonomous robotic portrait-generation system combining real-time face detection, AI-based sketch generation, and robotic drawing. The system captures video frames, extracts facial regions, converts them into minimalist single-line sketches using the Gemini Vision API, optimizes stroke order through graph-based path planning, and executes smooth trajectories on a 6-DoF collaborative manipulator. This perception-cognition-action pipeline integrates computer vision, neural artistic abstraction, motion optimization, and robot control. User ratings on a 5-point scale were high for sketch quality 4.33, perceived execution 4.53, and user experience 4.65, indicating recognizable, appealing, and engaging robotic portraits.

Dream.exe: Can Video Generation Models Dream Executable Robot Manipulation?

Video generation models have made impressive strides in synthesizing visually compelling content, yet their outputs remain confined to the virtual domain. A natural question follows: how well do these models reflect the physical world when their generated videos leave the screen and enter reality? We propose robotic manipulation as a concrete, measurable window onto this question: if a model has truly internalized physical laws, the motion it depicts should translate into executable robot behavior. We introduce Dream..exe, an evaluation framework that operationalizes this criterion through a video-to-execution pipeline. Given a scene image and a task description, Dream..exe synthesizes a manipulation video, converts the generated motion into robot trajectories, and executes them in a physics simulator, yielding a grounding signal that purely visual metrics cannot offer. Using this pipeline, we evaluate 8 models spanning frontier closed-source generators, open-source generators, and robot-specific models. Our benchmark covers 101 manually curated manipulation tasks at three levels of physical complexity, measured across visual quality, trajectory fidelity, and execution success. Encouragingly, several models achieve measurable execution success, suggesting that generative priors learned from internet-scale data already encode meaningful physical knowledge. Yet visual quality proves a poor predictor of executability, exposing a dimension of model capability that standard visual evaluations do not capture. Dream..exe will be open-sourced at https://github.com/showlab/Dream.exe.

Sequential Planning via Anchored Robotic Keypoints

We present Sequential Planning via Anchored Robotic Keypoints, SPARK, a training-free neurosymbolic manipulation system that reaches 43.7% on six LIBERO-PRO position & task cells, more than doubling CaP-Agent0 and Vision-Language-Action (VLA) baselines. CaP-Agent0, a multi-turn code-generation agent, achieves 18.2% by re-querying an LLM at every turn, but its restart-from-scratch solution proves costly against minor policy failures. Perception is the layer that fails most under position and task changes so SPARK spends its computation there. A single Gemini call composes the plan as a typed behavior tree (BT) of composable primitives, each already containing the low-level control (motion, grasping, depth geometry) a code-generation agent would otherwise regenerate on every trial. The rest of the budget goes to perception: a second Gemini call proposes three alternative text prompts per object, SAM3 evaluates each, and we keep the prompt\tolabel pair with the most confident detection and a recovery loop then retries a failed primitive against freshly detected objects, with no new LLM call. The alternative prompts add +27.7 points on the spatial suite and +10.0 on the object suite, with the recovery loop adding +5.0 overall. SPARK runs the same primitives on three robot families (UR10e, Franka FR3, bimanual Franka) across nine unique tasks at twenty trials each, averaging 68%. Since the detector, planner, and controller modules sit behind the typed plan, they swap independently without training, and each primitive's checkable post-condition traces a failure to the corresponding module or a kinematic limit. Every trial logs a verified, labeled trajectory, so a training-free planner that already beats VLAs can supply the data those policies need without teleoperation. PortraitGen: Exemplar-Driven GRPO with Dual-Reward Guidance for Photorealistic Portrait Generation

Reinforcement Learning like Group Relative Policy Optimization (GRPO) has significantly advanced text-to-image post-training. However, current methods often favor superficial aesthetics, such as over-saturated colors, leaving critical flaws like AI artifacts and biological implausibilities unresolved. We attribute these limitations to two primary factors: (1) The absence of real images during post-training confines GRPO sampling to the original distribution, failing to break inherent generative boundaries; (2) the optimization process lacks specific rewards targeting fine-grained artifacts like overly oily skin and other AI artifacts. To address this, we propose PortraitGen, a novel framework tailored for photorealistic portrait generation. First, we break inherent generative boundaries by directly introducing real images into the GRPO sampling groups, where image inversion is employed to obtain their transition probabilities and latents. Second, to explicitly steer the model toward photorealism, we introduce a complementary dual-reward mechanism: OmniReward for general quality and AI-Portrait for human-centric fidelity. Furthermore, we curate PortraitBench, a comprehensive portrait-centric benchmark. Extensive experiments demonstrate that PortraitGen significantly outperforms existing baselines, effectively suppressing AI artifacts and achieving unprecedented photorealism.
