Abstract

Sound Scene Generation is about the automatic synthesis of artificial sound scenes. We introduce SsgCaps, a publicly available dataset of human-engineered sound scenes wherein each scene matches a precisely structured prompt that guides the sampling process. The corresponding prompts are sampled from a predefined action-based typology that allows extensive sampling while retaining plausibility. SsgCaps is a sound scene dataset derived from the unpublished reference dataset for Task 7 of the 2024 DCASE Challenge edition, which contained private-and public-domain audio samples. In contrast, SsgCaps contains only public-domain audio samples, allowing us to open this dataset to the community. To make this dataset useful to the community, we first elaborate on the rationale for the prompt and dataset structure. We then perform a comparative quantitative analysis of the 2 versions of the dataset. To do so, we compare both versions to the audio synthesized by the SSG algorithms submitted to the challenge using Fr{é}chet Audio Distance (FAD) and Kernel Audio Distance (KAD) as well as perceptual ratings. This analysis shows only small differences, which enables us to recommend the open version for further benchmarking of SSG algorithms.

SoundscapeAgent: Agentic Soundscape Construction for Controllable Synthesis and Scalable Audio-Language Supervision

We present an agentic soundscape construction framework for controllable compositional audio generation that makes explicit the scene planning, source selection, temporal layout, and rendering steps typically handled implicitly by single-shot text-to-audio models. An LLM-based agent converts user intent into an executable scene plan, acquires assets through retrieval and on-demand generation, renders controllable multi-event mixtures, and exports aligned scene metadata. The framework also supports human-in-the-loop interaction through user-guided tool selection and editable scene plans. Together, these components provide an inspectable and reusable approach to controllable soundscape synthesis and scalable audio-language data construction. Listener studies and objective metrics demonstrate competitive generation performance against text-to-audio baselines, while models trained with agent-generated data consistently outperform real-only baselines in downstream audio reasoning. Dasheng AudioGen: A Unified Model for Generating Coherent Audio Scenes from Text

Audio generation has long been fragmented, with speech, music, and sound effects produced by domain-specific models that fail to jointly generate coherent audio scenes from a single description. The key obstacles are insufficient fine-grained supervision for real-world mixed audio and limited acoustic representations for modeling concurrent audio components. We present Dasheng AudioGen, a unified framework for generating general mixed-audio scenes from text. Dasheng AudioGen introduces structured multi-view captions, which explicitly decouple complex acoustic scenes into complementary description views, thereby enabling fine-grained control over audio layers. Furthermore, we employ a high-dimensional unified semantic-acoustic representation as the shared latent space. It injects semantic priors that facilitate cross-modal training convergence, while its high-dimensional feature space provides sufficient capacity to disentangle and fuse concurrent audio components effectively. With these designs, a simple flow-matching DiT achieves high-quality end-to-end audio scene generation. We also establish a comprehensive evaluation pipeline for audio scene generation. Experiments demonstrate that Dasheng AudioGen achieves performance approaching real-world recordings in mixed-audio categories, while remaining competitive with specialized models in single-type generation tasks. Scene2Sound: Auditory-Grounded Soundscape Generation for 3D Gaussian Worlds

3D Gaussian Splatting (3DGS) turns captured or generated imagery into photorealistic 3D world simulations that users can freely explore, yet these worlds remain silent. Because existing audio generation methods condition on a single image or viewpoint, their sound is tied to that observation and cannot stay consistent while a listener moves. We introduce the task of generating a spatially consistent soundscape for a given 3DGS world through auditory grounding, identifying which objects in the world should emit sound and anchoring each to a persistent 3D position, and present Scene2Sound, a training-free framework built on this grounding. From the input world alone, our pipeline selects viewpoints that jointly cover the scene, identifies sound-emitting objects with a vision-language model, and associates the multi-view detections into 3D instances through Gaussian set matching, which measures the overlap between the Gaussian sets that render each detection. Each source then receives generated audio that a standard object-based audio engine spatializes in real time at arbitrary listener poses. We further propose two spatial-consistency metrics, one testing whether rendered audio responds consistently to listener motion and one testing whether the claimed sources are supported by views held out from their placement. On a curated set of generated 3DGS worlds and on 3DGS scenes generated from real-world 360-degree captures, Scene2Sound preserves the audio quality of strong per-viewpoint baselines while remaining spatially consistent where per-viewpoint and single-panorama pipelines do not, and a user study confirms the perceptual benefit.
