Digital Image Correlation

Digital Image Correlation (DIC) is an optical technique used to measure full-field deformation in materials by tracking the movement of patterns in image sequences. Current research focuses on improving DIC accuracy and robustness, particularly in challenging scenarios like non-uniform deformation and the presence of cracks, through the application of advanced algorithms such as physics-informed neural networks and peridynamic neural operators. These advancements enhance the technique's applicability in diverse fields, including biomechanics, materials science, and civil engineering, enabling more precise characterization of material behavior and failure mechanisms.
