Free Flying
Free-flying robotics focuses on controlling robots without fixed bases, such as those operating in space or performing acrobatic maneuvers. Current research emphasizes developing robust control algorithms, often leveraging techniques like reinforcement learning and Linear Quadratic Regulators (LQR), to achieve precise trajectory tracking and handle system uncertainties, including those arising from unknown inertial parameters. These advancements are crucial for applications ranging from autonomous space station maintenance and cooperative mapping to complex aerial acrobatics, improving efficiency and safety in these challenging environments.
