Human Autonomy
Human autonomy teaming (HAT) research focuses on optimizing collaboration between humans and autonomous systems, aiming to leverage the strengths of both for improved performance in complex tasks. Current efforts concentrate on developing robust models for trust inference and propagation in multi-agent teams, incorporating explainable interfaces to enhance human understanding and control, and designing efficient algorithms for real-time situation awareness estimation and task coordination, often utilizing hierarchical frameworks and imitation learning. These advancements are crucial for safe and effective deployment of autonomous systems in diverse fields like wildfire management, healthcare, and defense, improving efficiency and potentially mitigating risks in time-critical situations.
