Volumetric Capture
Volumetric capture aims to create three-dimensional, photorealistic digital representations of objects and scenes, going beyond simple surface geometry to capture internal details and complex interactions. Current research emphasizes improving the accuracy and efficiency of this process, particularly focusing on neural implicit representations and novel fusion techniques that leverage both image data and prior models (like animatable avatars) to handle challenges like sparse data, occlusions, and dynamic elements such as hair. These advancements are significantly impacting fields like virtual reality, animation, and digital asset creation by enabling the rapid and accurate generation of high-fidelity digital content.
