Wing Robot
Winged robots, or ornithopters, are being developed to achieve agile and energy-efficient flight, mimicking the maneuverability of birds and bats. Current research focuses on improving control algorithms, such as those based on nonlinear dynamic inversion and bang-bang control, to manage the complex aerodynamics of flapping wings and enable precise trajectory tracking and obstacle avoidance, often incorporating data-driven approaches and event-based sensing. These advancements are significant for expanding the capabilities of aerial robots in applications like inspection, environmental monitoring, and search and rescue, particularly in challenging environments where traditional drones struggle.
