Overview

Agentic image generation studies systems that plan and act over multiple steps instead of producing an image from a prompt in one pass. Common approaches use vision-language models as planners or critics, coordinate specialized agents, or call tools for web search, image editing, code-based layouts, and workflow routing; some are training-free, while others use supervised fine-tuning and reinforcement learning. Work targets challenges such as object counts, spatial relationships, factual details, personalization, and editable designs, with evaluations including GenEval, WISE, and task-specific benchmarks. A central tension is how to make iterative decisions and verification reliable without adding excessive latency, cost, or unwanted changes to parts of an image that are already correct.

GenClaw: Code-Driven Agentic Image Generation

Image generation models have evolved from text-conditioned pixel synthesis toward multimodal agents endowed with visual comprehension and tool invocation capabilities. Yet, existing agents remain at the mercy of underlying black-box image models. Their workflow is trapped in a repetitive cycle of prompt rewriting for generation refinement, leaving them with no mechanism to directly manipulate the canvas. In essence, the potential of LLMs to serve as a genuine "brush" for precise visual construction remains largely untapped. In this paper, we propose GenClaw, a code-driven agentic image generation paradigm that empowers the agent to create like a human artist: first conceptualizing, then sketching, and finally coloring. Specifically, the agent first constructs the conceptual knowledge and context through search and reasoning. It then utilizes code (e.g., SVG, HTML, ThreeJS) to render executable visual sketches. Finally, it employs an image generation model to supplement textures, materials, and photorealism. In this workflow, code serves as a controllable intermediate canvas bridging linguistic reasoning and pixel synthesis, seamlessly integrating programmatic logic with the visual expressiveness of generative models. By transforming image generation from a black-box paradigm into a staged process akin to authentic human creation, GenClaw offers a step toward for highly controllable and interpretable visual generation systems.

GenEvolve: Self-Evolving Image Generation Agents via Tool-Orchestrated Visual Experience Distillation

Open-ended image generation is no longer a simple prompt-to-image problem. High-quality generation often requires an agent to combine a model's internal generative ability with external resources. As requests become more diverse and demanding, we aim to develop a general image-generation agent that can self-evolve through trajectories and use tools more effectively across varied generation challenges. To this end, we propose GenEvolve, a self-evolving framework based on Tool-Orchestrated Visual Experience Distillation. In GenEvolve, each generation attempt is modeled as a tool-orchestrated trajectory, where the agent gathers evidence, selects references, invokes generation skills, and composes them into a prompt-reference program. Unlike existing agentic generation methods that mainly rely on image-level scalar rewards, GenEvolve compares multiple trajectories for the same request and abstracts best-worst differences into structured visual experience, provided only to a privileged teacher branch. Inspired by on-policy self-distillation, Visual Experience Distillation provides dense token-level supervision, helping the student internalize better search, knowledge activation, reference selection, and prompt construction. We further construct GenEvolve-Data and GenEvolve-Bench. Experiments on public benchmarks and GenEvolve-Bench show substantial gains over strong baselines, achieving state-of-the-art performance among current image-generation frameworks. Generation Navigator: A State-Aware Agentic Framework for Image Generation

Despite rapid advances in text-to-image generation, faithfully realizing user intent remains challenging, often requiring manual multi-turn trial and error. To automate this process, existing systems rely on either simple prompt rewriting or closed-loop agents driven by hand-crafted rules, rather than learning to adapt actions to the evolving generation process. In this paper, we reformulate image generation as a state-conditioned action-making problem and propose Generation Navigator, a multi-turn T2I agent that learns to dynamically steer the generation trajectory and output the next action. However, training this agent via reinforcement learning introduces a critical credit assignment challenge: naively rewarding a trajectory based solely on a single state assigns equal credit to all actions in the rollout, ignores the quality dynamics across turns, and fails to distinguish actions that improve the trajectory from those that degrade it or waste turns without progress. We resolve this with PRE-GRPO (Peak-Retention-Efficiency Group Relative Policy Optimization), a trajectory-level reinforcement learning objective that explicitly rewards discovering a high-quality image (Peak), avoiding subsequent quality degradation across turns (Retention), and minimizing unnecessary turns (Efficiency). Experiments show substantial improvements across benchmarks, reaching a WISE score of 0.90 and 79.06% reasoning accuracy on T2I-ReasonBench.

Self-Reasoning Agentic Framework for Narrative Product Grid-Collage Generation

Narrative-driven product photography has become a prevalent paradigm in modern marketing, as coherent visual storytelling helps convey product value and establishes emotional engagement with consumers. However, existing image generation methods do not support structured narrative planning or cross-panel coordination, often resulting in weak storytelling and visual incoherence. In practice, narrative product photography is commonly presented as multi-grid collages, where multiple views or scenes jointly communicate a product narrative. To ensure visual consistency across grids and aesthetic harmony of the overall composition, we generate the collage as a single unified image rather than composing independently synthesized panels. We propose a self-reasoning agentic framework for narrative product grid collage generation. Given a product packshot and its name, the system first constructs a Product Narrative Framework that explicitly represents the product's identity, usage context, and situational environment, and translates it into complementary grids governed by a shared visual style. Constraint-aware prompts are then compiled and fed to a generation model that synthesizes the collage jointly. The generated output is evaluated on both content validity and photography quality, with explicit gates determining whether to proceed or refine. When evaluation fails, the system performs failure attribution and applies targeted refinement, enabling progressive improvement through iterative self-reflection. Experiments demonstrate that our framework consistently improves aesthetic quality, narrative richness, and visual coherence, compared to direct prompting baselines.

Unify-Agent: A Unified Multimodal Agent for World-Grounded Image Synthesis

Unified multimodal models provide a natural and promising architecture for understanding diverse and complex real-world knowledge while generating high-quality images. However, they still rely primarily on frozen parametric knowledge, which makes them struggle with real-world image generation involving long-tail and knowledge-intensive concepts. Inspired by the broad success of agents on real-world tasks, we explore agentic modeling to address this limitation. Specifically, we present Unify-Agent, a unified multimodal agent for world-grounded image synthesis, which reframes image generation as an agentic pipeline consisting of prompt understanding, multimodal evidence searching, grounded recaptioning, and final synthesis. To train our model, we construct a tailored multimodal data pipeline and curate 143K high-quality agent trajectories for world-grounded image synthesis, enabling effective supervision over the full agentic generation process. We further introduce FactIP, a benchmark covering 12 categories of culturally significant and long-tail factual concepts that explicitly requires external knowledge grounding. Extensive experiments show that our proposed Unify-Agent substantially improves over its base unified model across diverse benchmarks and real world generation tasks, while approaching the world knowledge capabilities of the strongest closed-source models. As an early exploration of agent-based modeling for world-grounded image synthesis, our work highlights the value of tightly coupling reasoning, searching, and generation for reliable open-world agentic image synthesis.

Gen-Searcher: Reinforcing Agentic Search for Image Generation

Recent image generation models have shown strong capabilities in generating high-fidelity and photorealistic images. However, they are fundamentally constrained by frozen internal knowledge, thus often failing on real-world scenarios that are knowledge-intensive or require up-to-date information. In this paper, we present Gen-Searcher, as the first attempt to train a search-augmented image generation agent, which performs multi-hop reasoning and search to collect the textual knowledge and reference images needed for grounded generation. To achieve this, we construct a tailored data pipeline and curate two high-quality datasets, Gen-Searcher-SFT-10k and Gen-Searcher-RL-6k, containing diverse search-intensive prompts and corresponding ground-truth synthesis images. We further introduce KnowGen, a comprehensive benchmark that explicitly requires search-grounded external knowledge for image generation and evaluates models from multiple dimensions. Based on these resources, we train Gen-Searcher with SFT followed by agentic reinforcement learning with dual reward feedback, which combines text-based and image-based rewards to provide more stable and informative learning signals for GRPO training. Experiments show that Gen-Searcher brings substantial gains, improving Qwen-Image by around 16 points on KnowGen and 15 points on WISE. We hope this work can serve as an open foundation for search agents in image generation, and we fully open-source our data, models, and code.

DiffGraph: An Automated Agent-driven Model Merging Framework for In-the-Wild Text-to-Image Generation

The rapid growth of the text-to-image (T2I) community has fostered a thriving online ecosystem of expert models, which are variants of pretrained diffusion models specialized for diverse generative abilities. Yet, existing model merging methods remain limited in fully leveraging abundant online expert resources and still struggle to meet diverse in-the-wild user needs. We present DiffGraph, a novel agent-driven graph-based model merging framework, which automatically harnesses online experts and flexibly merges them for diverse user needs. Our DiffGraph constructs a scalable graph and organizes ever-expanding online experts within it through node registration and calibration. Then, DiffGraph dynamically activates specific subgraphs based on user needs, enabling flexible combinations of different experts to achieve user-desired generation. Extensive experiments show the efficacy of our method.

Agentic Flow Steering and Parallel Rollout Search for Spatially Grounded Text-to-Image Generation

Precise Text-to-Image (T2I) generation has achieved great success but is hindered by the limited relational reasoning of static text encoders and the error accumulation in open-loop sampling. Without real-time feedback, initial semantic ambiguities during the Ordinary Differential Equation trajectory inevitably escalate into stochastic deviations from spatial constraints. To bridge this gap, we introduce AFS-Search (Agentic Flow Steering and Parallel Rollout Search), a training-free closed-loop framework built upon FLUX.1-dev. AFS-Search incorporates a training-free closed-loop parallel rollout search and flow steering mechanism, which leverages a Vision-Language Model (VLM) as a semantic critic to diagnose intermediate latents and dynamically steer the velocity field via precise spatial grounding. Complementarily, we formulate T2I generation as a sequential decision-making process, exploring multiple trajectories through lookahead simulations and selecting the optimal path based on VLM-guided rewards. Further, we provide AFS-Search-Pro for higher performance and AFS-Search-Fast for quicker generation. Experimental results show that our AFS-Search-Pro greatly boosts the performance of the original FLUX.1-dev, achieving state-of-the-art results across three different benchmarks. Meanwhile, AFS-Search-Fast also significantly enhances performance while maintaining fast generation speed.

coDrawAgents: A Multi-Agent Dialogue Framework for Compositional Image Generation

Text-to-image generation has advanced rapidly, but existing models still struggle with faithfully composing multiple objects and preserving their attributes in complex scenes. We propose coDrawAgents, an interactive multi-agent dialogue framework with four specialized agents: Interpreter, Planner, Checker, and Painter that collaborate to improve compositional generation. The Interpreter adaptively decides between a direct text-to-image pathway and a layout-aware multi-agent process. In the layout-aware mode, it parses the prompt into attribute-rich object descriptors, ranks them by semantic salience, and groups objects with the same semantic priority level for joint generation. Guided by the Interpreter, the Planner adopts a divide-and-conquer strategy, incrementally proposing layouts for objects with the same semantic priority level while grounding decisions in the evolving visual context of the canvas. The Checker introduces an explicit error-correction mechanism by validating spatial consistency and attribute alignment, and refining layouts before they are rendered. Finally, the Painter synthesizes the image step by step, incorporating newly planned objects into the canvas to provide richer context for subsequent iterations. Together, these agents address three key challenges: reducing layout complexity, grounding planning in visual context, and enabling explicit error correction. Extensive experiments on benchmarks GenEval and DPG-Bench demonstrate that coDrawAgents substantially improves text-image alignment, spatial accuracy, and attribute binding compared to existing methods.

VisionCreator-R1: A Reflection-Enhanced Native Visual-Generation Agentic Model

Visual content generation has advanced from single-image to multi-image workflows, yet existing agents remain largely plan-driven and lack systematic reflection mechanisms to correct mid-trajectory visual errors. To address this limitation, we propose VisionCreator-R1, a native visual generation agent with explicit reflection, together with a Reflection-Plan Co-Optimization (RPCO) training methodology. Through extensive experiments and trajectory-level analysis, we uncover reflection-plan optimization asymmetry in reinforcement learning (RL): planning can be reliably optimized via plan rewards, while reflection learning is hindered by noisy credit assignment. Guided by this insight, our RPCO first trains on the self-constructed VCR-SFT dataset with reflection-strong single-image trajectories and planning-strong multi-image trajectories, then co-optimization on VCR-RL dataset via RL. This yields our unified VisionCreator-R1 agent, which consistently outperforms Gemini2.5Pro on existing benchmarks and our VCR-bench covering single-image and multi-image tasks.

VisionCreator: A Native Visual-Generation Agentic Model with Understanding, Thinking, Planning and Creation

Visual content creation tasks demand a nuanced understanding of design conventions and creative workflows-capabilities challenging for general models, while workflow-based agents lack specialized knowledge for autonomous creative planning. To overcome these challenges, we propose VisionCreator, a native visual-generation agentic model that unifies Understanding, Thinking, Planning, and Creation (UTPC) capabilities within an end-to-end learnable framework. Our work introduces four key contributions: (i) VisGenData-4k and its construction methodology using metacognition-based VisionAgent to generate high-quality creation trajectories with explicit UTPC structures; (ii) The VisionCreator agentic model, optimized through Progressive Specialization Training (PST) and Virtual Reinforcement Learning (VRL) within a high-fidelity simulated environment, enabling stable and efficient acquisition of UTPC capabilities for complex creation tasks; (iii) VisGenBench, a comprehensive benchmark featuring 1.2k test samples across diverse scenarios for standardized evaluation of multi-step visual creation capabilities; (iv) Remarkably, our VisionCreator-8B/32B models demonstrate superior performance over larger closed-source models across multiple evaluation dimensions. Overall, this work provides a foundation for future research in visual-generation agentic systems.

See and Fix the Flaws: Enabling VLMs and Diffusion Models to Comprehend Visual Artifacts via Agentic Data Synthesis

Despite recent advances in diffusion models, AI generated images still often contain visual artifacts that compromise realism. Although more thorough pre-training and bigger models might reduce artifacts, there is no assurance that they can be completely eliminated, which makes artifact mitigation a highly crucial area of study. Previous artifact-aware methodologies depend on human-labeled artifact datasets, which are costly and difficult to scale, underscoring the need for an automated approach to reliably acquire artifact-annotated datasets. In this paper, we propose ArtiAgent, which efficiently creates pairs of real and artifact-injected images. It comprises three agents: a perception agent that recognizes and grounds entities and subentities from real images, a synthesis agent that introduces artifacts via artifact injection tools through novel patch-wise embedding manipulation within a diffusion transformer, and a curation agent that filters the synthesized artifacts and generates both local and global explanations for each instance. Using ArtiAgent, we synthesize 100K images with rich artifact annotations and demonstrate both efficacy and versatility across diverse applications. Code is available at link.

CountLoop: Training-Free High-Instance Image Generation via Iterative Agent Guidance

Diffusion models excel at photorealistic synthesis but struggle with object count fidelity, especially in high-density settings. We introduce COUNTLOOP, a training-free framework that achieves structured instance and count control through iterative, structured feedback. Our method alternates between synthesis and evaluation: a VLM-based planner generates structured scene layouts, while a VLM-based critic provides explicit feedback on object counts, spatial arrangements, and visual quality to refine the layout iteratively. Instance-driven attention masking and cumulative attention composition further prevent semantic leakage, ensuring clear object separation even in densely occluded scenes. Evaluations on COCO-Count, T2I-CompBench, and two newly introduced high instance benchmarks show that COUNTLOOP reduces counting error by up to 57% and achieves the highest or comparable spatial quality scores across all benchmarks, while maintaining photorealism.
