GryphOne: Symbol-Aware Masked Diffusion for Structural Refinement in Offline Handwritten Mathematical Expression Recognition

Handwritten mathematical expression recognition (HMER) requires reasoning over diverse symbols and structures, yet autoregressive models struggle with exposure bias and syntax inconsistency. We present GryphOne, a discrete diffusion framework which reformulates HMER as iterative symbolic refinement instead of sequential generation. GryphOne progressively refines symbols and relations, removing autoregression and improving consistency. Symbol-aware tokenization and random-masking mutual learning further enhance robustness to handwriting diversity. On the MathWriting benchmark, GryphOne achieves 5.51% CER and 59.9% EM (ExpRate), outperforming all reimplemented models in the matched setting as well as the commercial HMER system. Held-out evaluation on CROHME 2014-2023 further shows strong cross-dataset generalization.

PRiSM: Benchmarking Phone Realization in Speech Models

Phone recognition (PR) serves as the atomic interface for language-agnostic modeling for cross-lingual speech processing and phonetic analysis. Despite prolonged efforts in developing PR systems, current evaluations only measure surface-level transcription accuracy. We introduce PRiSM, the first open-source benchmark designed to expose blind spots in phonetic perception through intrinsic and extrinsic evaluation of PR systems. PRiSM standardizes transcription-based evaluation and assesses downstream utility in clinical, educational, and multilingual settings with transcription and representation probes. We find that diverse language exposure during training is key to PR performance, encoder-CTC models are the most stable, and specialized PR models still outperform Large Audio Language Models. PRiSM releases code, recipes, and datasets to move the field toward multilingual speech models with robust phonetic ability: https://github.com/changelinglab/prism.

Mind the Gap: Action Rebinding Attacks against Android GUI Agents

Large multimodal model powered GUI agents are emerging as high-privilege operators on mobile platforms, entrusted to perceive screen content and inject inputs across application boundaries. While these agents aim to automate complex tasks, we demonstrate that their design introduces a fundamental conflict with Android's strict application sandboxing. We present a novel cross-application Action Rebinding attack, which allows a malicious application with zero dangerous permissions to hijack the agent's execution and perform privileged operations on behalf of the attacker. Our attack exploits the inevitable observation-action gap inherent in the agent's reasoning pipeline. A malicious app can render a benign ``contextual carrier'' to elicit a planned action, and then swap the foreground to a sensitive target application during the reasoning latency. The agent, unaware of the transition, unwittingly executes the action in the privileged context. We further advance this attack by weaponizing the agent's own task-recovery logic to create programmable, multi-step exploit loops , and introducing an Intent Alignment Strategy (IAS) that manipulates the agent's reasoning to rationalize the hijacked state. We evaluate our attack on six widely-used Android GUI agents. Our results demonstrate a 100% success rate for atomic action hijacking and the ability to orchestrate high-impact exploits, including unauthorized file deletion, SMS transmission, and app uninstallation, without the attacker holding any corresponding permissions. Furthermore, since the malicious application separates intent from capability and contains no privileged API calls, it achieves a 0% detection rate across commercial malware scanners (e.g., VirusTotal), highlighting a critical blind spot in current mobile security analysis. MobileDreamer: Generative Sketch World Model for GUI Agent

Mobile GUI agents have shown strong potential in real-world automation and practical applications. However, most existing agents remain reactive, making decisions mainly from current screen, which limits their performance on long-horizon tasks. Building a world model from repeated interactions enables forecasting action outcomes and supports better decision making for mobile GUI agents. This is challenging because the model must predict post-action states with spatial awareness while remaining efficient enough for practical deployment. In this paper, we propose MobileDreamer, an efficient world-model-based lookahead framework to equip the GUI agents based on the future imagination provided by the world model. It consists of textual sketch world model and rollout imagination for GUI agent. Textual sketch world model forecasts post-action states through a learning process to transform digital images into key task-related sketches, and designs a novel order-invariant learning strategy to preserve the spatial information of GUI elements. The rollout imagination strategy for GUI agent optimizes the action-selection process by leveraging the prediction capability of world model. Experiments on Android World show that MobileDreamer achieves state-of-the-art performance and improves task success by 5.25%. World model evaluations further verify that our textual sketch modeling accurately forecasts key GUI elements.

Region-Specific Calibration Achieves Excellent Inter-Device Reliability for Smartphone Dermatology: A Multi-Device Benchmark on Korean Facial Skin

Background: Smartphone-based dermatology requires inter-device colorimetric reliability that holds across calibration regimes, yet quantitative multi-device benchmarks remain scarce. Materials and Methods: We analyzed matched facial images from 965 Korean subjects captured by a digital single-lens reflex (DSLR) camera, a consumer tablet, and a consumer smartphone, and evaluated two calibration methods against the DSLR reference. The methods are standard global linear Color Correction Matrix (CCM) normalization and region-specific CCM trained per anatomical region, both applied in Commission Internationale de l'Eclairage Lab* (CIELAB) space. Results: Linear CCM reduced inter-device color differences by 61-74% and placed both Melanin Index (intraclass correlation coefficient [ICC] = 0.80) and Individual Typology Angle (ITA, ICC = 0.78) in the good reliability band. Region-specific CCM raised both indices into the excellent reliability band (MI ICC = 0.95, ITA ICC = 0.93), with anatomical region exceeding the source device as the largest pre-calibration variance contributor (analysis-of-variance η2=0.18η^2 = 0.18 versus 0.12). Conclusion: Consumer-device skin colorimetry therefore achieves clinically useful inter-device reliability using standard calibration, with region-aware calibration the largest remaining source of improvement.

MobileOcc: A Human-Aware Semantic Occupancy Dataset for Mobile Robots

Dense 3D semantic occupancy perception is critical for mobile robots operating in pedestrian-rich environments, yet it remains underexplored compared to its application in autonomous driving. To address this gap, we present MobileOcc, a semantic occupancy dataset for mobile robots operating in crowded human environments. Our dataset is built using an annotation pipeline that incorporates static object occupancy annotations and a novel mesh optimization framework explicitly designed for human occupancy modeling. It reconstructs deformable human geometry from 2D images, then refines and optimizes it using associated LiDAR point data. Using MobileOcc, we establish benchmarks for two tasks: i) Occupancy prediction and ii) Pedestrian velocity prediction, using different methods, including monocular, stereo, and panoptic occupancy, with metrics and baseline implementations for reproducible comparison. Beyond occupancy prediction, we further assess our annotation method on 3D human pose estimation datasets. Results demonstrate that our method exhibits robust performance across different datasets. Our code and dataset are released at https://autonomousrobots.nl/paper_websites/mobileocc

HOB: A Holistically Optimized Bidding Strategy under Heterogeneous Bidding Environments

Optimizing a single advertising campaign across heterogeneous channels is a central challenge in industrial autobidding. Auction mechanisms vary across channels in ranking rules (pure eCPM vs. UE-augmented scoring), pricing formats (first- vs. second-price), and bidding conventions (uniform vs. non-uniform), while advertisers impose shared campaign-level constraints. We propose HOB, which makes marginal cost (MC) computable and alignable across heterogeneous channels, especially for first-price auctions (FPA) with organic-paid coexistence, where existing bidding formulations do not yield a practical aligned MC form. At the global level, HOB derives channel-specific MC forms and coordinates disparate channels through a shared MC target. At the local level, HOB models free-win probability and winning-price uncertainty with a zero-inflated exponential distribution, yielding an efficient surplus-optimal bidding strategy for non-uniform first-price auctions. We show that any interior optimum satisfies MC equalization across channels. Experiments on a controlled offline benchmark, industrial log replay, and large-scale online A/B tests demonstrate that HOB consistently delivers significant performance gains. Deployed on a large-scale commercial DSP, HOB delivers a 3.0% lift in GMV while maintaining return on advertising spend (ROAS) constraints.

AppAgent: Multimodal Agents as Smartphone Users

Recent advancements in large language models (LLMs) have led to the creation of intelligent agents capable of performing complex tasks. This paper introduces a novel LLM-based multimodal agent framework designed to operate smartphone applications. Our framework enables the agent to operate smartphone applications through a simplified action space, mimicking human-like interactions such as tapping and swiping. This novel approach bypasses the need for system back-end access, thereby broadening its applicability across diverse apps. Central to our agent's functionality is its innovative learning method. The agent learns to navigate and use new apps either through autonomous exploration or by observing human demonstrations. This process generates a knowledge base that the agent refers to for executing complex tasks across different applications. To demonstrate the practicality of our agent, we conducted extensive testing over 50 tasks in 10 different applications, including social media, email, maps, shopping, and sophisticated image editing tools. The results affirm our agent's proficiency in handling a diverse array of high-level tasks.
