JointHRRP-Net: A Statistically Constrained Decoupling Network for Joint Target and Jamming Recognition in Composite Jamming

Authors: Yunfei ZhaoMei LiuShuowei LiuXunzhang GaoYujie Zhou

Abstract

High-resolution range profile (HRRP)-based radar automatic target recognition suffers from severe performance degradation in composite jamming environments. Active jamming introduces suppression- and deception-related components into the received range profile. After pulse compression, these components are coupled with target echoes in the HRRP domain, making target-related scattering peaks difficult to distinguish and weakening feature separability. To address this problem, this paper proposes JointHRRP-Net, a unified framework for joint target-jamming recognition. A statistically constrained decoupling module is first developed to generate target-dominant and jamming-dominant latent branches from the mixed HRRP representation. Correlation-guided statistical constraints are imposed to suppress redundant cross-branch information and alleviate target-jamming feature entanglement. A multi-scale temporal encoding module is then designed to model local scattering structures and long-range range-cell dependencies, followed by a dual-expert decision module for single-label target classification and multi-label jamming classification. Experiments under diverse signal-to-jamming ratio (SJR) and signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) levels demonstrate that JointHRRP-Net outperforms representative baseline methods in both target recognition and composite jamming recognition. Open-set evaluation further shows that the learned target representation remains discriminative for unknown-target rejection. These results demonstrate the effectiveness and robustness of JointHRRP-Net in composite jamming scenarios.

Corner Reflector Array Jamming Discrimination Using Multi-Dimensional Micro-Motion Features with Frequency Agile Radar

This paper introduces a robust discrimination method for distinguishing real ship targets from corner-reflector-array jamming with frequency-agile radar. The key idea is to exploit the multidimensional micro-motion signatures that separate rigid ships from non-rigid decoys. From Range-Velocity maps we derive two new hand-crafted descriptors-mean weighted residual (MWR) and complementary contrast factor (CCF) and fuse them with deep features learned by a lightweight CNN. An XGBoost classifier then gives the final decision. Extensive simulations show that the hybrid feature set consistently outperforms state-of-the-art alternatives, confirming the superiority of the proposed approach.

Brownian Bridge Diffusion-Based Joint Channel Estimation and Data Detection for Jamming-Resilient Receivers

In next-generation wireless networks, the growing density of devices and limited spectrum resources pose severe jamming challenges to fragile legitimate communication links in the wireless electromagnetic environment. Crucially, when jamming overlaps with pilot and data symbols in both time and frequency domains, it inflicts a severe bottleneck on receiver-side joint estimation and detection. Existing schemes often lack an effective framework to combat such jamming contamination, thereby failing to guarantee reliable transmission. To address this issue, we propose a Brownian bridge diffusion-based joint channel estimation and data detection framework (BBD-JCED) for jamming-resilient receivers. Specifically, the proposed framework comprises two core modules: the first extracts jamming features in the short-time Fourier transform (STFT) domain and suppresses jamming samples, thereby improving the signal-to-jamming-plus-noise ratio (SJNR) of the received signal; the second introduces a Brownian bridge diffusion (BBD) process to model the evolution of the suppressed signal and the encoded bits in the presence of channel estimation errors, thereby enabling enhanced joint channel estimation and data detection. To alleviate the computational burden of the BBD process in the second module, we further derive a fast ordinary differential equation (ODE) solver that enables its low-complexity iterative evolution. Finally, we design a multi-module training algorithm to improve the data recovery capability of the proposed framework. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed framework achieves superior bit recovery performance compared with baseline schemes while maintaining a lower number of model parameters and competitive computational complexity.

Toward Resilient 5G Networks: Comparative Analysis of Federated and Centralized Learning for RF Jamming Detection

Jamming attacks are proliferating and pose a significant threat to the security of 5G and beyond networks. These attacks target 5G radio frequency (RF) domain and can disrupt the communication in wireless networks. While conventional machine learning and deep learning approaches demonstrate its potential for jamming detection, they typically require centralized data collection, compromising the privacy of user equipment (UEs). This work proposes a federated learning (FL)-based jamming detection framework that operates on over-the-air In-phase and Quadrature (IQ) samples extracted from Synchronization Signal Blocks (SSBs) in the RF domain. The framework enables collaborative model training across multiple UEs without sharing raw RF signal data. We adopt Federated Averaging (FedAvg) algorithm to train a 1D convolutional neural network (1DCNN) for effective detection of attacks. Numerical results demonstrate that the proposed FL framework achieves 97% accuracy and 97% F1-score, outperforming centralized baselines including MLP, 1DCNN, SVM, and logistic regression, while preserving the data privacy of all participating UEs
