Abstract

This paper introduces a robust discrimination method for distinguishing real ship targets from corner-reflector-array jamming with frequency-agile radar. The key idea is to exploit the multidimensional micro-motion signatures that separate rigid ships from non-rigid decoys. From Range-Velocity maps we derive two new hand-crafted descriptors-mean weighted residual (MWR) and complementary contrast factor (CCF) and fuse them with deep features learned by a lightweight CNN. An XGBoost classifier then gives the final decision. Extensive simulations show that the hybrid feature set consistently outperforms state-of-the-art alternatives, confirming the superiority of the proposed approach.

JointHRRP-Net: A Statistically Constrained Decoupling Network for Joint Target and Jamming Recognition in Composite Jamming

High-resolution range profile (HRRP)-based radar automatic target recognition suffers from severe performance degradation in composite jamming environments. Active jamming introduces suppression- and deception-related components into the received range profile. After pulse compression, these components are coupled with target echoes in the HRRP domain, making target-related scattering peaks difficult to distinguish and weakening feature separability. To address this problem, this paper proposes JointHRRP-Net, a unified framework for joint target-jamming recognition. A statistically constrained decoupling module is first developed to generate target-dominant and jamming-dominant latent branches from the mixed HRRP representation. Correlation-guided statistical constraints are imposed to suppress redundant cross-branch information and alleviate target-jamming feature entanglement. A multi-scale temporal encoding module is then designed to model local scattering structures and long-range range-cell dependencies, followed by a dual-expert decision module for single-label target classification and multi-label jamming classification. Experiments under diverse signal-to-jamming ratio (SJR) and signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) levels demonstrate that JointHRRP-Net outperforms representative baseline methods in both target recognition and composite jamming recognition. Open-set evaluation further shows that the learned target representation remains discriminative for unknown-target rejection. These results demonstrate the effectiveness and robustness of JointHRRP-Net in composite jamming scenarios.

Modulation Feature Enhancement with a Multi-Stage Attention Network for Underwater Acoustic Target Recognition

Underwater acoustic target recognition is critical for maritime applications, yet it faces challenges arising from the complex and diverse nature of ship-radiated noise. To address these issues, we propose a robust deep learning-based framework. First, we introduce a feature extraction and fusion method based on variational mode decomposition (VMD) and the 3/2-D spectrum to generate high-fidelity 2-D DEMON spectral features, which effectively capture modulation envelope information. To further enhance feature representation, we design a one-dimensional convolutional neural network (1-D CNN) integrated with a novel Multi-Stage Multi-Type Attention Mechanism (MMATT) that adaptively refines features at different network depths. Within this mechanism, we propose a Residual Channel-Independent Spectral Attention Mechanism (R-CISAM) and a Multi-Scale Separate-and-Fuse Spectral Attention Mechanism (MS-SFSAM). Moreover, to mitigate performance degradation caused by severe class imbalance inherent in real-world ship-radiated noise data, we devise an Adjustable Class-Balanced Focal Loss (ACBFL), which provides flexibility across tasks with varying degrees of imbalance. Experimental results on a real-world ship-radiated noise dataset demonstrate that the proposed solutions effectively enhance underwater acoustic target recognition performance.

Segment Any Motion with Radar: Robust Multimodal Moving-Object Segmentation and Tracking

Moving-object perception must decide which image regions correspond to real motion and keep every instance identified over time. Methods that read motion from appearance, optical flow, or estimated trajectories lose that evidence under poor illumination, adverse weather, reflections, and occlusion. Radar is a natural remedy because it measures radial velocity directly instead of inferring it from photometric correspondence. However, existing benchmarks do not jointly provide radar measurements, dense moving-instance masks, and temporally consistent identities for surveillance. We therefore introduce RGBTR-Motion, a synchronized and calibrated fixed-camera benchmark that pairs RGB, thermal, and radar streams with dense instance masks and temporally consistent identities across diverse surveillance scenes. We also develop SAM-Radar, an RGB, thermal, and radar-based segmentation and tracking framework built on SAM 3. SAM-Radar's radar-aware detector fuses calibrated RGBT features with radar returns that are grounded at their projected image locations, and motion supervision, implemented as foreground classification of those projected returns, teaches the detector to reject clutter without any text prompt. The tracker associates accepted radar returns with individual trajectories and uses them as physical evidence that a visually degraded target remains present. This allows it to bridge short periods of low visibility or occlusion and reconnect a reappearing target to its existing identity instead of starting a new track. SAM-Radar attains 0.7027 IoU and 0.8090 F1-50, and raises MOTA, HOTA, and IDF1 by 0.2977, 0.1603, and 0.2857 over the strongest competing values.
