Perceiving multimodal cues and forecasting fine-grained actions from an egocentric (Ego) perspective is vital for applications like robot manipulation. However, previous studies either rely mainly on under-informed visual inputs to predict coarse human motions or follow the VRM/VLA paradigm, which suffers from insufficient robot data and the gap between human and robot embodiments. We observe that 3D hand pose naturally serves as a unified representation to bridge human-robot actions. Hence, we investigate an under-explored Vision-Language guided Egocentric 3D Hand Pose Forecasting (VL-EHPF) task, which aims to predict future Ego 3D hand poses from visual observations, a language instruction, and pose states. To overcome the limited field-of-view and highly dynamic motions in the Ego view, we propose a framework dubbed Exo2EgoPose, which innovatively leverages holistic and stable exocentric (Exo) demonstrations as guidance to compensate for partial and dynamic Ego-view cues. Specifically, we introduce a Dual-level Exocentric Reconstruction Module (DERM), which incorporates the paired Exo videos as supervision to reconstruct their video-level and chunked frame-level representations, thereby modeling spatial contexts and temporal dynamics. Then, the Global-to-Local Modulation Module (GLMM) utilizes the reconstructed hierarchical Exo representations for progressive feature refinement via attention mechanisms and adaptive modulation, enabling comprehensive Exo guidance for accurate Ego hand pose forecasting. Extensive experiments on \textit{AssemblyHands}, \textit{Ego-Exo4D}, and our newly constructed \textit{EgoMe-pose} benchmarks show the superiority of our method, which outperforms state-of-the-art methods by a large margin. Moreover, it demonstrates an effective human-to-robot transfer capability and yields improvements on the \textit{CALVIN} dataset.
Forecasting future 3D hand pose sequences from egocentric video is essential for understanding human intention and enabling embodied applications such as AR/VR assistance and human-robot interaction. However, this task remains a highly challenging problem because egocentric hand motion is driven by complex human intent, exhibits highly dexterous articulations, and is observed under drastic viewpoint shifts induced by ego-motion. In this work, we introduce EggHand, a foundation-model-based framework for egocentric hand pose forecasting that unifies multimodal semantic reasoning with dynamic motion modeling. Our approach couples an action decoder from a Vision-Language-Action (VLA) model, which captures the structured temporal dynamics of hand motion, with an egocentric video-text encoder that provides viewpoint-aware contextual information learned from large-scale first-person video. Together, these components overcome the brittleness of generic visual encoders under ego-motion and enable joint reasoning over motion, context, and high-level intent-without relying on body pose or external tracking. Experiments on the EgoExo4D dataset show that EggHand sets a new state of the art in forecasting accuracy, remains robust under severe ego-motion, and further enables controllable prediction via language-based task prompts. Learning manipulation skills from human videos is promising for scalable robot learning. However, the embodiment mismatch between humans and robots makes this challenging. One promising solution is to learn object-centric actionable affordances that are embodiment-agnostic. In this work, we propose a framework that leverages egocentric human videos with state-of-the-art 3D Structure-from-Motion and hand mesh reconstruction to extract actionable affordances such as visual, grasp, and trajectory affordances that explicitly encode where to interact, how to grasp, and how to move. We construct EgoAffordance, a large-scale dataset comprising 204K episodes with 5.6M visual affordances and 11.6M grasp and trajectory affordances. Building on this, we introduce VLAff, a large vision-language model-based unified foundation model that learns cross-modal correlations across all actionable affordances. Given a visual observation and instruction, VLAff generates visual affordance heatmaps, grasp poses, and trajectories, which are then converted into directly executable actions by utilizing 3D scene information. Through extensive experiments, we demonstrate that VLAff not only achieves state-of-the-art performance on visual affordance prediction, but can also be effectively applied to real robot applications such as zero-shot manipulation and affordance-guided robot learning.
Anticipating human motion from an egocentric perspective is fundamental for proactive assistance in AR/VR, human-robot collaboration, and embodied AI. While recent works incorporate language as a semantic prior to reduce the ill-posed nature of egocentric forecasting, they largely neglect the 3D spatial and semantic context that governs how motion unfolds, and treat pose and language prediction as separate inference streams. We introduce Ego3DLM, built on two core principles: accurate motion forecasting requires explicit spatial and semantic understanding of the 3D environment, and pose and language must be predicted holistically in a single pass, since motion is inherently tied to the semantic interpretation of actions being performed. Given three-point tracking, 3D scene features, and egocentric video, Ego3DLM simultaneously decodes past pose, future pose, past narration, and future narration in a single autoregressive pass, grounding predicted poses and descriptions in one another to enforce cross-modal and temporal consistency. We adopt a three-stage training scheme: (1) spatial-semantic scene awareness pretraining; (2) holistic instruction tuning over all four outputs in a single pass; and (3) GRPO-based reinforcement finetuning with intra- and inter-modal rewards that directly optimize pose-language fidelity. Experiments on the Nymeria benchmark demonstrate that Ego3DLM achieves state-of-the-art performance across future motion prediction, past motion tracking, and motion description, showing that 3D scene grounding and holistic cross-modal prediction yield physically plausible and semantically coherent motion forecasts.
