Abstract

Circuit design is a complex and iterative process that requires expertise in electronic engineering. It involves selecting components while meeting performance constraints, such as power efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and signal integrity. However, manual design is time-consuming and prone to errors. Although other stages of the manufacturing pipeline have benefited from AI-driven optimizations, circuit design remains a bottleneck, limiting overall productivity. Generative AI and machine learning offer the potential to automate and improve this stage, boosting efficiency and accuracy. To address this, we introduce a dual transformer architecture that bridges the gap between AI and circuit design by leveraging attention mechanisms to model complex, non-sequential circuit relationships. Our approach structures netlist data into graph-based representations, enabling effective learning of circuit topology and component interactions. The system consists of two interlinked models: a node prediction model that proposes components and an edge prediction model that infers valid connections. This collaborative and decoupled design captures both component-level semantics and global structural coherence. In our experiments, this architecture outperforms recent models such as AnalogGenie and cktGNN in the validity of generated circuits. By addressing key limitations in existing methods, our work advances automation in electronics engineering and contributes a benchmark for AI-driven circuit synthesis.

AnalogAgent: Self-Improving Analog Circuit Design Automation with LLM Agents

Recent advances in large language models (LLMs) suggest strong potential for automating analog circuit design. Yet most LLM-based approaches rely on a single-model loop of generation, diagnosis, and correction, which favors succinct summaries over domain-specific insight and suffers from context attrition that erases critical technical details. To address these limitations, we propose AnalogAgent, a training-free agentic framework that integrates an LLM-based multi-agent system (MAS) with self-evolving memory (SEM) for analog circuit design automation. AnalogAgent coordinates a Code Generator, Design Optimizer, and Knowledge Curator to distill execution feedback into an adaptive playbook in SEM and retrieve targeted guidance for subsequent generation, enabling cross-task transfer without additional expert feedback, databases, or libraries. Across established benchmarks, AnalogAgent achieves 92% Pass@1 with Gemini and 97.4% Pass@1 with GPT-5. Moreover, with compact models (e.g., Qwen-8B), it yields a +48.8% average Pass@1 gain across tasks and reaches 72.1% Pass@1 overall, indicating that AnalogAgent substantially strengthens open-weight models for high-quality analog circuit design automation.

CircuitFormer: A Circuit Language Model for Analog Topology Design from Natural Language Prompt

Automating analog circuit design remains a longstanding challenge in Electronic Design Automation (EDA). While Transformer-based Large Language Models (LLMs) have revolutionized software code generation, their application to analog hardware design is hindered by two critical limitations: (i) the scarcity of analog design datasets containing natural language description of a design and its corresponding netlist, and (ii) the inefficiency of general-purpose tokenizers (e.g., Byte Pair Encoding (BPE)) in capturing the inherent graph structure of circuits. To bridge this gap, first, we curate the largest annotated dataset of analog circuit netlists to date, comprising 31,341 netlist-natural language description pairs across all major circuit classes. Furthermore, we propose Circuit Tokenizer (CKT), a novel circuit graph tokenizer designed to encode netlist connectivity by explicitly mining frequent subcircuits. In terms of scalability, CKT overcomes the bottleneck of prior circuit graph serialization methods where vocabulary size scales linearly with maximum number of components in the dataset, n_max, (O(n_max)); instead, CKT decouples vocabulary growth from circuit complexity, achieving a constant O(1) complexity. Empirically, CKT outperforms standard BPE on circuit topology representation, reducing sequence length by 57% and achieving a 2.3x superior compression ratio using a compact, fixed vocabulary of size 512. Leveraging this optimized tokenization, we train a circuit-specific language model, CircuitFormer, a 511M parameter encoder-decoder transformer. Our model achieves 100% syntactic correctness and an 83% functional success rate across all major analog circuit categories, outperforming state-of-the-art open-source LLMs by 10% and 14%, respectively, while requiring 240x fewer parameters. PANDA: An LLM-Enhanced Performance-Driven Analog Design Framework Bridging Design Intent and Layout Generation

Traditional design of analog circuits heavily relies on manual interventions across topology, sizing, and layout, with prior automation addressing stages in isolation. In this work, we propose PANDA, an LLM-enhanced framework that bridges high-level design intent to final layout by actively managing cross-stage dependencies through guided topology synthesis, substructure-aware sizing, and constraint-driven layout generation. This shifts automation from algorithm-centric execution to intent-centric co-design, reducing turnaround time from days or weeks to hours while improving design performance.
