Deepfake Medium

Deepfake media, encompassing AI-generated audio, images, and videos, presents a significant challenge to digital security and information integrity. Current research focuses on developing robust detection methods, often employing deep learning models like convolutional neural networks (CNNs) and transformers, sometimes combined with perceptual image assessment techniques, to identify subtle manipulations and artifacts indicative of deepfakes. These efforts are driven by the need to mitigate the spread of misinformation and protect against malicious uses of this technology, with ongoing work emphasizing improved model generalization, robustness against adversarial attacks, and the development of large-scale datasets for training and evaluation. The ultimate goal is to create reliable and readily deployable deepfake detection systems for both researchers and the general public.
