Healthcare Workflow
Healthcare workflow optimization aims to improve efficiency and effectiveness of clinical processes, primarily by reducing administrative burdens and enhancing clinician-patient communication. Current research heavily utilizes large language models (LLMs), often fine-tuned for specific medical tasks, alongside other AI techniques like process mining and reinforcement learning, to automate tasks such as medical note generation, prior authorization, and report summarization. These advancements hold significant potential to alleviate clinician burnout, reduce healthcare costs, and improve the quality and timeliness of patient care, though challenges remain in ensuring accuracy, reliability, and ethical considerations.
