Surface Reflectance
Surface reflectance, the way surfaces reflect light, is a crucial aspect of computer vision and remote sensing, with research focused on accurately modeling and reconstructing it from images. Current efforts utilize neural networks, including neural radiance fields (NeRFs) and diffusion models, to generate and manipulate reflectance maps, often incorporating physical constraints like bidirectional reflectance distribution functions (BRDFs) for improved realism and accuracy. These advancements enable applications such as realistic image editing, 3D model reconstruction, and improved analysis of Earth observation data, leading to more accurate and informative results across diverse fields.
