Tactile Signal

Tactile signal processing research aims to enable machines to understand and utilize touch information, mirroring human dexterity and perception. Current efforts focus on improving the spatial resolution of tactile data through techniques like contrastive learning and hyper-resolution methods, as well as developing cross-modal models that integrate tactile and visual information using architectures such as diffusion models and transformers. This research is crucial for advancing robotics, particularly in areas like object manipulation and human-robot interaction, by providing robots with a richer understanding of their environment and enabling more sophisticated control. Furthermore, neuromorphic approaches are being explored to create energy-efficient tactile systems inspired by biological nervous systems.
