Vectorized Map
Vectorized maps, representing geographic information as lines and polygons, are crucial for autonomous driving, enabling precise localization and planning. Current research focuses on developing online methods for generating these maps from sensor data, employing techniques like transformer-based architectures and incorporating temporal information for improved consistency and robustness. These advancements aim to create more accurate and generalizable map representations, reducing reliance on costly and inflexible pre-built maps, and ultimately improving the safety and reliability of autonomous vehicles. The resulting maps are directly usable by downstream planning and control modules.
