BeatDance: Generating Beat-Consistent 3D Dance with Hierarchical Spatial-Temporal Modeling

Generating realistic 3D dance from music is a challenging task that requires accurate synchronization with musical rhythms while capturing the spatial complexity of human motion. Although existing methods can generate physically plausible dance motions, they often struggle to achieve precise alignment with music, such as the beat. To address this limitation, we propose a novel diffusion-based framework, BeatDance, with two components: 1) We present a Hierarchical Decoupled Attention (HDA) module, which first disentangles the learning of human pose and temporal dynamics. A hierarchical structure is then employed to capture both short-term and long-term dependencies, thereby enhancing spatial-temporal modeling. 2) We adopt cycle-consistent learning by introducing an auxiliary dance-to-music module. During training, discrepancies between the reconstructed and original music induce a stronger loss signal, effectively encouraging the consistency property between the music and dance motion. Extensive experimental results demonstrate that our proposed approach outperforms recent competitive methods on two benchmark datasets.

CycleSpeech: Reciprocal Alignment for Instruction-Controlled Speech Synthesis and Paralinguistic Understanding

Instruction-controlled speech synthesis and paralinguistic understanding are often trained independently, leaving reciprocal feedback between the two tasks underexplored. We introduce CycleSpeech, a framework that connects generation and understanding through a shared, structured voice profile that serves as a common target for supervision and reciprocal feedback. The forward cycle assesses whether synthesized speech expresses the intended attributes by comparing recovered and target profiles. The backward cycle evaluates whether profiles inferred from real speech can guide reconstruction of the source speaking style. To support both directions, we construct a bilingual dataset of 20,046 examples pairing instructions, target speech, speaker references, and structured profiles. Building on joint supervised fine-tuning, CycleGRPO alternates policy updates using reciprocal rewards grounded in profile consistency and speaking-style reconstruction. Fixed target profiles anchor feedback from the evolving counterpart. This procedure requires neither human preference annotations nor an additional preference-trained reward model. Evaluations on Chinese and English benchmarks show improved instruction adherence and profile recovery while maintaining competitive synthesis quality. Compared with Step-Audio-2-mini, CycleSpeech improves instruction-match accuracy by 4.50 and 10.06 percentage points in Chinese and English, respectively. Controlled ablations further support the contribution of cycle feedback to generation control. These results support structured voice profiles as an interface for reciprocal training between speech generation and paralinguistic understanding. Cycle-Consistent and Uncertainty-Aware Neural Surrogates for Tokamak Edge Plasmas

The boundary and divertor plasma govern how a tokamak exhausts power and particles, setting heat fluxes, target conditions, and the onset of detachment. Predicting these quantities is essential for operating current and future devices, but edge simulations that resolve them are too slow for parameter scans, optimization, or real-time control. Machine-learning surrogates offer a fast alternative, yet most are forward-only: they cannot recover input parameters from observations or assess the reliability of their predictions. We introduce a cycle-consistent neural surrogate for edge plasmas, combining a conditional U-Net forward model with an optimization-based inverse method built on the frozen forward network. The forward model maps five control parameters to two-dimensional plasma-state fields on the SOLPS-ITER mesh; the inverse method enforces consistency between forward and inverse predictions, a self-supervised quality check needing no ground-truth labels at inference. An ensemble of multilayer perceptrons also predicts electron temperature and density profiles at the outboard midplane and divertor targets, with uncertainty estimates that flag where more simulations are needed. The forward model achieves normalized root-mean-square errors below 2.6% and Pearson correlations above 0.95 for all fields. Cycle-consistency regularization raises the average cyclical R2R^2 from 0.59 to 0.99 without degrading forward accuracy and enables recovery of the core fueling rate; all five control parameters are recovered with Pearson r≥0.97r\ge0.97. A kk-d tree warm start yields a database completion rate above 95%, versus roughly 30% outright failures when cold-started. With about 4×1064\times10^6 parameters, the model produces full 2D predictions in milliseconds, five to six orders of magnitude faster than SOLPS-ITER, enabling real-time control, parameter scans, uncertainty analysis, and digital twins.

Cycle-Consistent Neural Explanation of Formal Verification Certificates

Formal verification produces machine-checkable certificates that attest to the satisfaction or violation of temporal properties, yet these certificates remain opaque to non-specialist stakeholders. We propose a cycle-consistent neural architecture that generates faithful natural language explanations of verification certificates. A forward network NN1 maps certificates to explanations, and an inverse network NN2 reconstructs certificates from explanations; a symbolic verifier closes the loop, providing a differentiable faithfulness proxy. A pointer-generator mechanism ensures lexical grounding by copying state names directly from the certificate. We evaluate on 420 test certificates spanning six verification methods (bounded proof, k-induction, inductive invariant, lasso, reachability, witness pair) in both YES and NO verdict variants, drawn from a financial compliance domain with 207 named states. Our trained architecture, combined with a hybrid inference-time routing strategy, achieves 90.0% cycle-verified soundness, surpassing a multi- LLM few-shot baseline (76.1% for the best of 16 LLM combinations across four frontier models) by 13.9 percentage points. The neural model wins on 10 of 12 verdict/kind categories, with three categories reaching 100% soundness. The architecture offers 860x faster inference (185 ms vs. 160 s per certificate for the full multi-LLM baseline), offline operation, deterministic outputs, and zero per-inference cost. These results demonstrate that trained specialization outperforms general-purpose LLM prompting for structured certificate explanation, while eliminating the deployment constraints of cloud-based inference.

SIMBA: ABidirectional Retrieval Forward Simulation Framework for Modeling FY-4A GIIRS Hyperspectral Infrared Radiances Toward NWP Applications

Hyperspectral infrared observations are an important data source for numerical weather prediction (NWP) because they provide rich information on the vertical structure of atmospheric temperature and humidity. However, most existing deep learning methods mainly focus on one-way retrieval from radiances to atmospheric profiles, while the reverse radiance simulation process and the consistency between atmospheric state space and radiance observation space are insufficiently considered. In this study, we propose SIMBA, a unified bidirectional retrieval-forward simulation framework for FY-4A GIIRS hyperspectral infrared radiance modeling toward NWP applications. The framework jointly performs atmospheric profile retrieval and radiance reconstruction, introduces a cycle-consistency constraint to strengthen the coupling between the two processes, and employs a bidirectional Mamba state-space module to capture long-range dependencies along pressure levels. Using collocated FY-4A GIIRS observations and ERA5 reanalysis data, the proposed method is evaluated for temperature retrieval, specific humidity retrieval, long-wave radiance reconstruction, and medium-wave radiance reconstruction. Experimental results show that SIMBA outperforms several representative deep learning baselines across both retrieval and reconstruction tasks, while ablation experiments confirm the contribution of the bidirectional design and cycle-consistency mechanism. These results demonstrate that the proposed framework is effective for joint atmospheric profile retrieval and hyperspectral infrared radiance modeling, and suggest potential for future Jacobian-related analysis and NWP-oriented extensions.

Two-Way Is Better Than One: Bidirectional Alignment with Cycle Consistency for Exemplar-Free Class-Incremental Learning

Continual learning (CL) seeks models that acquire new skills without erasing prior knowledge. In exemplar-free class-incremental learning (EFCIL), this challenge is amplified because past data cannot be stored, making representation drift for old classes particularly harmful. Prototype-based EFCIL is attractive for its efficiency, yet prototypes drift as the embedding space evolves; therefore, projection-based drift compensation has become a popular remedy. We show, however, that existing one-directional projections introduce systematic bias: they either retroactively distort the current feature geometry or align past classes only locally, leaving cycle inconsistencies that accumulate across tasks. We introduce BiCyc, a bidirectional projector alignment approach with a cycle-consistency objective. BiCyc jointly optimizes two maps, old-to-new and new-to-old, with stop-gradient gating so that transport and representation co-evolve. Analytically, we show that the cycle loss contracts the singular spectrum toward unity in whitened space, and that improved transport of class means and covariances yields smaller perturbations of classification log-odds, preserving old-class decisions and mitigating catastrophic forgetting. Empirically, across standard EFCIL benchmarks, BiCyc substantially reduces forgetting and improves accuracy in from-scratch settings, while remaining competitive in the pretrained fine-grained regime.

Music Transcription with (Almost) No Supervision

Competitive music transcription models require large amounts of paired audio-score data, which is scarce due to collection costs, alignment difficulty, and copyright restrictions. Meanwhile, vast quantities of unpaired audio recordings and symbolic scores are freely available but have gone unused. We adopt a cycle-consistent translation framework in which a small amount of paired data acts as a minimal anchor, unlocking the full potential of the unpaired pool. We find that: unpaired data yields surprisingly large gains, especially under limited supervision; unpaired audio contributes more than unpaired scores; incorporating unlabeled audio from a new instrument during training improves transcription for that instrument without any paired supervision. Together, these results suggest that scaling unpaired data offers a practical path toward high-quality transcription for instruments where labeled data remains scarce.

Cycle-Consistent Search: Question Reconstructability as a Proxy Reward for Search Agent Training

Reinforcement Learning (RL) has shown strong potential for optimizing search agents in complex information retrieval tasks. However, existing approaches predominantly rely on gold supervision, such as ground-truth answers, which is difficult to scale. To address this limitation, we propose Cycle-Consistent Search (CCS), a gold-supervision-free framework for training search agents, inspired by cycle-consistency techniques from unsupervised machine translation and image-to-image translation. Our key hypothesis is that an optimal search trajectory, unlike insufficient or irrelevant ones, serves as a lossless encoding of the question's intent. Consequently, a high-quality trajectory should preserve the information required to accurately reconstruct the original question, thereby inducing a reward signal for policy optimization. However, naive cycle-consistency objectives are vulnerable to information leakage, as reconstruction may rely on superficial lexical cues rather than the underlying search process. To reduce this effect, we apply information bottlenecks, including exclusion of the final response and named entity recognition (NER) masking of search queries. These constraints force reconstruction to rely on retrieved observations together with the structural scaffold, ensuring that the resulting reward signal reflects informational adequacy rather than linguistic redundancy. Experiments on question-answering benchmarks show that CCS achieves performance comparable to supervised baselines while outperforming prior methods that do not rely on gold supervision. These results suggest that CCS provides a scalable training paradigm for training search agents in settings where gold supervision is unavailable.

EchoGen: Cycle-Consistent Learning for Unified Layout-Image Generation and Understanding

In this work, we present EchoGen, a unified framework for layout-to-image generation and image grounding, capable of generating images with accurate layouts and high fidelity to text descriptions (e.g., spatial relationships), while grounding the image robustly at the same time. We believe that image grounding possesses strong text and layout understanding abilities, which can compensate for the corresponding limitations in layout-to-image generation. At the same time, images generated from layouts exhibit high diversity in content, thereby enhancing the robustness of image grounding. Jointly training both tasks within a unified model can promote performance improvements for each. However, we identify that this joint training paradigm encounters several optimization challenges and results in restricted performance. To address these issues, we propose progressive training strategies. First, the Parallel Multi-Task Pre-training (PMTP) stage equips the model with basic abilities for both tasks, leveraging shared tokens to accelerate training. Next, the Dual Joint Optimization (DJO) stage exploits task duality to sequentially integrate the two tasks, enabling unified optimization. Finally, the Cycle RL stage eliminates reliance on visual supervision by using consistency constraints as rewards, significantly enhancing the model's unified capabilities via the GRPO strategy. Extensive experiments demonstrate state-of-the-art results on both layout-to-image generation and image grounding benchmarks, and reveal clear synergistic gains from optimizing the two tasks together.

CyCLeGen: Cycle-Consistent Layout Prediction and Image Generation in Vision Foundation Models

We present CyCLeGen, a unified vision-language foundation model capable of both image understanding and image generation within a single autoregressive framework. Unlike existing vision models that depend on separate modules for perception and synthesis, CyCLeGen adopts a fully integrated architecture that enforces cycle-consistent learning through image->layout->image and layout->image->layout generation loops. This unified formulation introduces two key advantages: introspection, enabling the model to reason about its own generations, and data efficiency, allowing self-improvement via synthetic supervision under a reinforcement learning objective guided by cycle consistency. Extensive experiments show that CyCLeGen achieves significant gains across diverse image understanding and generation benchmarks, highlighting the potential of unified vision-language foundation models.

Cycle-Consistent Tuning for Layered Image Decomposition

Disentangling visual layers in real-world images is a persistent challenge in vision and graphics, as such layers often involve non-linear and globally coupled interactions, including shading, reflection, and perspective distortion. In this work, we present an in-context image decomposition framework that leverages large diffusion foundation models for layered separation. We focus on the challenging case of logo-object decomposition, where the goal is to disentangle a logo from the surface on which it appears while faithfully preserving both layers. Our method fine-tunes a pretrained diffusion model via lightweight LoRA adaptation and introduces a cycle-consistent tuning strategy that jointly trains decomposition and composition models, enforcing reconstruction consistency between decomposed and recomposed images. This bidirectional supervision substantially enhances robustness in cases where the layers exhibit complex interactions. Furthermore, we introduce a progressive self-improving process, which iteratively augments the training set with high-quality model-generated examples to refine performance. Extensive experiments demonstrate that our approach achieves accurate and coherent decompositions and also generalizes effectively across other decomposition types, suggesting its potential as a unified framework for layered image decomposition.
