Dynamic Epistemic Logic
Overview
Dynamic epistemic logic models what agents know or believe and how those states change after announcements, messages, actions, and data exchanges. Researchers use Kripke and action models, extending them with AGM-style belief revision and contraction, asynchronous communication histories, paraconsistent reasoning, and knowledge of data values. Work studies soundness, completeness, decidability, plan existence, and fixed points under iterated announcements, with applications to distributed communication and belief coordination. A central tension is that modeling richer histories and revision can complicate axiomatization or make planning undecidable, while formally satisfying revision rules may not capture intended rational or social behavior.
