The Model Is Not the Product: A Dual-Pillar Architecture for Local-First Psychological Coaching

Existing language model applications struggle to meet the demand for emotionally oriented support, primarily due to their inability to maintain deep, persistent context across sessions. This report introduces Psych LM, an iOS application that validates the thesis that, for such applications, the surrounding architecture is paramount. Psych LM runs a local, on-device language model within a purpose-built, local-first runtime designed for behavioral and life-coaching applications. The system achieves the practical effect of a near-infinite context window through an automated, user-inspectable memory corpus that converts conversations into structured memory cards, including facts, goals, and events, and dynamically injects them into the prompt via semantic and vector search. As such, the system can be defined as an active-learning, retrieval-augmented generative, on-device architecture. This architecture delivers four primary contributions: a local-first design where privacy is a core property; a detailed description of the memory corpus for persistent context of key user information; a deterministic orchestration layer that provides a stable behavioral spine independent of the model's internal state; and a benchmark framework focused on evaluating the integrated system's reliability under realistic operating conditions. The R and D process confirms that complex, context-aware interaction can be reliably achieved under the strict constraints of a mobile environment by prioritizing architectural control and resource management over simple model size.

SO-Mamba: State-Ownership Mamba for Unrolled MRI Reconstruction

Accelerated MRI reconstruction requires recovering missing details while preserving anatomically coherent structures across large spatial regions. State-space models such as Mamba provide efficient long-range modeling, making them attractive learned regularizers for unrolled reconstruction. However, in a data-consistency-coupled unrolled solver, different stages operate on different reconstruction iterates, where the resident carrier should preserve coherent reconstruction content across stages while stage-dependent non-resident evidence is tied to the current update. Treating these roles uniformly can place persistent resident-carrier evidence and update-dependent non-resident evidence into the same recurrent content route. We therefore propose SO-Mamba, a state-ownership Mamba regularizer that assigns reconstruction evidence within each Mamba stage to recurrent residency, state-interface access, and non-state output correction. SO-Mamba implements this ownership rule with a State-Ownership Router (SOR), which constructs a resident carrier for recurrent content and routes non-resident evidence to affine modulation of the B/C state interfaces and an output correction outlet. The resident carrier supplies the Mamba content route, while the non-resident evidence stream adapts the state interfaces and contributes through the output outlet without entering the recurrent content route. We further introduce a two-level outer-band leakage diagnostic that separates hidden-state storage from readout expression by measuring outer-band energy in the selective-scan state trajectory and the post-scan Mamba readout. Experiments on five public MRI reconstruction benchmarks spanning diverse anatomies, sampling patterns, and coil configurations show that SO-Mamba consistently improves over CNN-, Transformer-, and Mamba-based baselines with competitive computational efficiency.

Language Mutations Sustain the Persistences of Conspiracy Theories on Social Media

This study investigates how language mutations affect the persistent diffusion of conspiracy theories on social media. Drawing on a three-year dataset of conspiracy-related posts from X, and applying computational linguistic analysis alongside survival modelling, we find that conspiracy claims with greater semantic mutations have substantially longer lifespans. Mutations in psycholinguistic properties, including pronouns, social reference words, cognitive process terms, risk- and health- related vocabularies, are associated with extended lifespans. Mutations in actor, action and target (AAT) categories are associated with longer lifespans as well. Qualitative analysis identifies two predominant mutation patterns: simplification and assimilation, at both linguistic and AAT structural levels. Taken together, the results advance our understanding of how language mutations contribute to conspiracy persistence online and shed lights on longitudinal content moderation strategies. We argue that content moderation should consider the mutability of conspiracy claims and focus on the core claims that can address their potential variations.

NeuSymMS: A Hybrid Neuro-Symbolic Memory System for Persistent, Self-Curating LLM Agents

We present NeuSymMS, an adaptive memory system that enables large language model (LLM) agents to learn, remember, and reason about users across sessions via a hybrid neuro-symbolic architecture. NeuSymMS couples neural fact extraction from unstructured dialogue using LLMs and a CLIPS-based expert system that classifies, deduplicates, and reconciles facts under explicit lifecycle rules. The system represents knowledge as subject-relation-value triples stored in relational database management system. It supports user/agents/agent-to-agent scoping, and implements a dual-horizon (short-term and long-term) memory model. IT leverages access-based promotion and time-based pruning of the memory on both horizpons. NeuSymMS maintains continuity of memory while avoiding context-window bloat and cross-entity contamination. We argue that this architecture offers a practical path to trustworthy, auditable memory for production agentic systems and discuss its novelty relative to log retrieval, summarization, and key-value approaches.

PFlow-T: A Persistence-Driven Forward Process for Topology-Controlled Generation

Current topology aware diffusion models face an architectural mismatch by using Gaussian noise for corruption while recovering structural features through conditional side channels To fix this we introduce PFlow T a generative model that bases its forward process entirely on persistent homology In PFlow T time measures the destruction of H1 topological features like holes rather than Gaussian noise injection This forward process eliminates features based on their persistence The reverse network then directly inverts this structured corruption to predict the clean state in one step Tests on MNIST digits zero one and eight show PFlow T significantly outperforms a baseline model in generating requested Betti numbers and handling out of distribution tasks PFlow T is the first generative architecture using persistent homology for the forward process although we note it is currently limited to low resolution pixel space proxies

Persistent and Conversational Multi-Method Explainability for Trustworthy Financial AI

Financial institutions increasingly require AI explanations that are persistent, cross-validated across methods, and conversationally accessible to human decision-makers. We present an architecture for human-centered explainable AI in financial sentiment analysis that combines three contributions. First, we treat XAI artifacts -- LIME feature attributions, occlusion-based word importance scores, and saliency heatmaps -- as persistent, searchable objects in distributed S3-compatible storage with structured metadata and natural-language summaries, enabling semantic retrieval over explanation history and automatic index reconstruction after system failures. Second, we enable multi-method explanation triangulation, where a retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) assistant compares and synthesizes results from multiple XAI methods applied to the same prediction, allowing users to assess explanation robustness through natural-language dialogue. Third, we evaluate the faithfulness of generated explanations using automated checks over grounding completeness, hallucinated claims, and method-attribution behavior. We demonstrate the architecture on an EXTRA-BRAIN financial sentiment analysis pipeline using FinBERT predictions and present evaluation results showing that constrained prompting reduces hallucination rate by 36% and increases method-attribution citations by 73% compared to naive prompting. We discuss implications for trustworthy, human-centered AI services in regulated financial environments.

Not All Memories Age the Same: Autodiscovery of Adaptive Decay in Knowledge Graphs

Knowledge graphs used for retrieval treat all facts as equally current. Existing temporal approaches apply uniform decay, using a single forgetting curve regardless of knowledge type. We show this is fundamentally misspecified: different knowledge types exhibit different temporal dynamics, and the core retrieval problem is not latency or throughput but identifying what is important at query time. We propose a hierarchical framework that replaces uniform decay with a continuous decay surface parameterized by two orthogonal signals: velocity (how frequently a concept is observed) and volatility (how much the value changes between observations, measured via embedding distance). The decay surface is decomposed into three learnable levels: domain-level parameters capture universal patterns (some predicates are inherently permanent, others inherently transient), context-level parameters capture setting-dependent variation, and entity-level adaptation personalizes decay to specific subjects. All parameters emerge from data through survival analysis on observed value lifetimes, requiring no predefined taxonomies or domain expertise. We formulate edge lifetime as a survival problem where the event is value supersession (a meaningfully different value replacing the current one), distinct from mere re-observation. Experiments on synthetic temporal knowledge graphs demonstrate recovery of planted hierarchical parameters (HDBSCAN ARI = 1.0). Validation on 107 Wikipedia articles and 1,163 patient records from the Synthea clinical EHR simulator shows that velocity-volatility clusters emerge naturally, align with observable persistence patterns, and near-universally exhibit the Lindy effect (Weibull shape k < 1). Uniform decay performs 18x worse than no temporal weighting. Heterogeneous decay recovers from this, with each hierarchy level contributing measurable improvement.

VibES: Induced Vibration for Persistent Event-Based Sensing

Event cameras are a bio-inspired class of sensors that asynchronously measure per-pixel intensity changes. Under fixed illumination conditions in static or low-motion scenes, rigidly mounted event cameras are unable to generate any events and become unsuitable for most computer vision tasks. To address this limitation, recent work has investigated motion-induced event stimulation, which often requires complex hardware or additional optical components. In contrast, we introduce a lightweight approach to sustain persistent event generation by employing a simple rotating unbalanced mass to induce periodic vibrational motion. This is combined with a motion-compensation pipeline that removes the injected motion and yields clean, motion-corrected events for downstream perception tasks. We develop a hardware prototype to demonstrate our approach and evaluate it on real-world datasets. Our method reliably recovers motion parameters and improves both image reconstruction and edge detection compared to event-based sensing without motion induction.
