Social-JEPA: Emergent Geometric Isomorphism

Abstract

World models compress rich sensory streams into compact latent codes that anticipate future observations. We let separate agents acquire such models from distinct viewpoints of the same environment without any parameter sharing or coordination. After training, their internal representations exhibit a striking emergent property: the two latent spaces are related by an approximate linear isometry, enabling transparent translation between them. This geometric consensus survives large viewpoint shifts and scant overlap in raw pixels. Leveraging the learned alignment, a classifier trained on one agent can be ported to the other with no additional gradient steps, while distillation-like migration accelerates later learning and markedly reduces total compute. The findings reveal that predictive learning objectives impose strong regularities on representation geometry, suggesting a lightweight path to interoperability among decentralized vision systems. Vision Wormhole: Latent-Space Communication in Heterogeneous Multi-Agent Systems

Heterogeneous multi-agent systems combine models with different capabilities through a common communication interface. Exchanging internal states directly requires translating between model-specific representations and controlling intermediate computation. We introduce the Vision Wormhole, which repurposes the visual input interface of Vision-Language Models (VLMs) for continuous communication between frozen heterogeneous agents. A Universal Visual Codec encodes each sender's latent rollout into a fixed-size message, maps it through a shared reference space, and decodes received messages into the receiver's image-token span. Per-model codecs and affine reference maps form a hub-and-spoke architecture with O(N)O(N) components for NN models. Each model learns its codec independently through self-distillation on anchor texts, and shared-anchor alignment enables reuse across communication partners. Across four VLM families, six team configurations, and nine reasoning benchmarks, Vision Wormhole improves accuracy by 6.0 percentage points on average over text-mediated MAS and achieves a 1.69×\times geometric-mean speedup in batch-normalized end-to-end runtime.

Reperesentation Geometry Matters for Planning with JEPA World Models

Joint-embedding predictive world models support planning through latent predictions, but unconstrained joint training can collapse distinct observations to identical embeddings. Two prominent strategies for avoiding collapse are to inherit pretrained features, as in DINO-WM, or to learn representations end-to-end with anti-collapse regularization, as in LeWorldModel (LeWM). Yet avoiding collapse does not ensure that latent distances distinguish outcomes in ways that matter for the task. In object manipulation, for example, success depends on the object's position and orientation relative to the goal. Such task-relevant state information can remain accurately decodable while barely influencing latent distance. The resulting planning cost may fail to reflect how close a predicted outcome is to the task goal. In this paper, we propose SCALE (State-CAlibrated Latent Embeddings), a method that correlates sampled pairwise latent distances with distances in task-relevant state space. Added to LeWM's existing objective, SCALE preserves its architecture, requires privileged state only during training, and adds no planning-time computation. We show that SCALE improves planning success over LeWM across manipulation and navigation tasks with multiple solvers and provide a comprehensive analysis of how SCALE reshapes representation geometry to support planning.

Human-JEPA: A Human-Centric Vision Model that Perceives and Anticipates

Machines that understand humans should perceive the present and anticipate the future. Existing human-centric vision model are pretrained on human images, set the state of the art in static dense perception, so motion and anticipation are out of reach. Here we present Human-JEPA, a human-centric vision model trained on video by anchored forecasting: dense targets are pinned to a frozen copy of the initialization, preventing a silent collapse of dense perception, and block masks are replaced by a pure past-to-future split, avoiding a five-point action tax and a seventeen-point re-identification collapse. Under frozen probes, Human-JEPA leads the pixel-anchored specialists on pose and person re-identification at 2.7 times fewer parameters, conceding high-resolution dense parsing, and its released predictor head is the first that does not degrade anticipation. A single safely adapted model thus serves both halves of understanding humans.
