Cultural Heritage
Cultural heritage research focuses on preserving and disseminating cultural artifacts and knowledge through innovative digital methods. Current efforts concentrate on developing efficient 3D modeling techniques (e.g., using photogrammetry, shape from polarization, and crowdsourced imagery), improving long-term digital preservation strategies (addressing technological obsolescence and metadata management), and leveraging AI, including large language models (LLMs) and deep learning, for tasks such as object recognition, caption generation, and personalized information delivery. This interdisciplinary field significantly impacts both the scientific community, by advancing computer vision, AI, and data management, and practical applications, enhancing accessibility and preservation of cultural heritage for future generations.
