Current Manual Disassembly Process
Manual disassembly, particularly of complex products like electronics and electric vehicle batteries, remains prevalent despite its inefficiency and safety risks. Current research focuses on automating this process, exploring both fully robotic solutions and human-robot collaborative approaches to leverage the strengths of both. Key areas of investigation include developing specialized robotic tools and end-effectors, and employing advanced control algorithms such as neuro-symbolic computing for task planning and execution in unstructured environments. These advancements aim to improve recycling efficiency, reduce labor costs, and enhance worker safety in the handling of hazardous materials.
