6G Networks
Overview
6G research explores how future mobile networks can support demanding services such as immersive media, industrial control, connected vehicles, and coordinated robots. Work spans radio technologies—including massive MIMO, reconfigurable intelligent surfaces, non-terrestrial links, and integrated sensing and communication—and methods for allocating spectrum, beams, energy, and computing resources. AI approaches range from federated learning and deep reinforcement learning to foundation models and autonomous agents that manage networks through closed-loop control. Many methods show promise in simulations and prototypes, but dependable deployment still depends on balancing latency, energy, security, privacy, and reliability while establishing realistic benchmarks and standards.
