Depth-to-RGB: Repurposing a Frozen Depth Estimator for Geometry-Guided Compositing

Reference-based object compositing inserts or replaces an object using a background image, a reference image, and a 2D compositing mask. These inputs guide appearance and placement but leave the completed scene's geometry implicit, which can distort object structure or alter the surroundings. Our Depth-to-RGB (D2R) framework predicts composite depth for a scene not yet observed in the RGB inputs. It learns reference-conditioned corrections to a frozen depth estimator using encoder features of paired completed scenes as targets. The unchanged decoder maps the corrected representation to the intended scene's depth, which a separately trained renderer holds fixed during RGB synthesis. Under matched architecture and training, encoder-feature supervision reduces OOD Stage-1 AbsRel by 31.4% relative to decoded-depth supervision. We also introduce AnyInsertion++ with paired in-distribution and category-disjoint splits to evaluate generalization beyond compositing training categories. The complete D2R system leads 12 open-source and 3 closed-source baselines in estimator-derived geometry and photometric quality on both paired splits. On category-disjoint data, D2R reduces AbsRel by 43.7% and improves PSNR by 2.4 dB over the matched RGB baseline. Across three unpaired benchmarks, D2R leads both identity metrics and reduces mean CLIP reference cosine distance by 55% relative to the strongest baseline. OverLay++: Dense-Overlap Layout-to-Image Generation Dataset

Layout-to-Image generation has made substantial progress in spatial and object-level control. However, existing methods still struggle with complex scenes containing many overlapping and interacting objects. We argue that training data is a particular bottleneck: existing datasets lack examples with dense, complex object interactions. To address this gap, we introduce OverLay++, a large-scale Layout-to-Image dataset with structurally complex scenes. OverLay++ contains approximately 500K images with an average of 6.6 objects per image, exceeding existing datasets by 1.67 times in annotation density. Beyond annotation density, OverLay++ provides rich semantic detail with object captions over six times longer than in current datasets. Our dataset generation pipeline is simple and produces dense, overlapping object annotations with rich per-object captions. Across multiple benchmarks, state-of-the-art Layout-to-Image methods trained on the OverLay++ dataset show consistent improvement and faster convergence, demonstrating the importance of dense, overlap-aware, and caption-rich supervision for controllable image generation.

RefRoute: Decoupling Conditioning Cost from References via Compact Residual Conditioning and Spatial Routing

Multi-reference image generation requires preserving the appearance of multiple subjects while composing them into a coherent scene. However, existing diffusion transformers commonly encode references as dense visual token grids and jointly process them with global attention, making conditioning increasingly expensive as the number and resolution of references grow. We present RefRoute, a framework that addresses both reference representation cost and attention overhead through two complementary mechanisms. Compact residual conditioning combines low-resolution latent tokens with lightweight residual features extracted from full-resolution pixels, reducing reference token counts while retaining fine-grained appearance cues. Condition routing and attention routing align reference tokens with their assigned target regions and restrict cross-reference interactions, while allowing selective reference access beyond region boundaries for scene integration. We further introduce RefRoute-Data for training many-reference generation models and ManyRef100, a benchmark spanning human, object, and mixed compositions with 10-17 references. After many-reference fine-tuning, RefRoute achieves an overall Weighted-Ref-VIEScore of 36.06 on ManyRef100, compared with 8.88 for FLUX.2-Klein-9B. Separate inference-cost evaluations show substantially slower latency growth as the reference count increases: at 16 references, our 50-step and 4-step configurations achieve 18.3×18.3\times and 14.2×14.2\times speedups over their corresponding FLUX baselines, respectively. These results establish compact reference representations and spatially routed attention as an effective approach to scalable many-reference image generation.

Form and Void: Entangled Composition through an Autonomous AI Agent

Positive and negative space is a fundamental principle in visual composition, supporting visually coherent forms and layered semantic relationships. Generating such compositions is challenging because it requires coordinated control over two semantic concepts that share a common boundary. Although recent text-to-image models and multimodal large language models (MLLMs) have achieved strong performance in image generation and visual understanding, positive-negative space generation remains difficult, particularly under direct single-pass prompting. In this work, we present the \textbf{F}orm \textbf{a}nd \textbf{V}oid \textbf{A}gent (\textbf{FaV-A}), a multimodal agent designed for staged positive-negative space generation. FaV-A follows a progressive workflow: it first generates a base object, then analyzes its shape and spatial structure to identify candidate negative-space semantics, and finally produces compositional instructions for the final image generation stage. Experimental results and ablation analyses suggest that FaV-A provides a more effective framework than direct zero-shot MLLM baselines for producing visually coherent and semantically aligned positive-negative space compositions.

VIF-Bench: Evaluating Visual Instruction Following in Multi-Reference Image Generation

Recent multimodal image generation models can take multiple images and textual instructions as input, enabling reference-based generation guided not only by text but also by visual instructions such as layouts, arrows, and pose cues. However, existing benchmarks do not evaluate the joint setting in which multiple references must be composed under multiple and heterogeneous visual-instruction images. To address this gap, we introduce VIF-Bench, a benchmark of 1,241 tasks designed to assess the edge of model capabilities in this joint setting by covering: (i) multi-reference generation (up to 7) under multiple heterogeneous visual instructions (up to 6), (ii) cases where reference images can potentially compete with visual instructions (e.g., a strongly posed subject vs. a target pose), and (iii) controlled comparison of visual instructions with text descriptions at different levels of specificity. Using these capabilities, we uncover three findings: (1) models face an adherence-artifact trade-off: once models reach stronger visual instruction adherence, stronger adherence tends to coincide with more instruction artifacts in generated images, (2) visual instruction adherence tends to be lower on tasks whose reference images carry a salient state of the controlled attribute (e.g., a neon-lit subject under a light-direction instruction), most consistently for light and wind, and (3) for models that can understand visual instructions, it is often better to provide visual constraints directly rather than describe them in text; when using text, a moderate level of detail works better than an exhaustive description. VIF-Bench is released as an open benchmark to establish a basis for fair comparison in controllable multi-reference image generation.

OOD Generalization as a Bifurcation Problem

Systematic out-of-distribution (OOD) generation remains a critical bottleneck for continuous-time generative models. While standard joint classifier-free guidance (CFG) routinely fails to synthesize unobserved concept combinations, exact decomposed scoring generalizes robustly at the cost of severe computational overhead. In this work, we reveal that compositional binding is not a uniform process but a highly localized phase transition. We identify the semantic bifurcation window - the precise temporal interval where joint and decomposed vector fields meaningfully diverge. Exploiting this dynamic, we propose surgical guidance, a hybrid sampling strategy that restricts exact multi-pass scoring strictly to this critical window. On an OOD bi-digit MNIST testbed, surgical guidance achieves state-of-the-art compositional fidelity at a fraction of the inference cost, yielding a +5.3% absolute improvement in pairwise accuracy over the joint baseline by intervening during just the first 15% of the diffusion trajectory. Furthermore, our empirical analysis uncovers a fundamental topological divide: diffusion models (SDEs) force conceptual resolution immediately at peak noise, whereas Conditional Flow Matching (ODEs) delays structural binding until intermediate features emerge, establishing a new temporal framework for accelerating large-scale generative decoding.

Less Is More: Balancing Positive and Negative Space in Visual Concept Blending

Graphic designers often blend visual concepts to communicate multiple ideas within a single image, leveraging positive and negative space to create balance, emphasis, and aesthetic appeal. While computational methods have begun to support automatic concept blending, they largely overlook the role of spatial composition in the design. To address this gap, we present an automatic pipeline that explicitly applies positive and negative space throughout the blending process. Our approach first identifies plausible regions for concept integration by combining semantic reasoning from vision-language models with geometric constraints derived from real-world examples. Conditioned on these regions, the system generates blended compositions using a hybrid pixel-vector pipeline: diffusion-based inpainting produces a fast, coarse initialization, which is then refined through vector-based optimization at the point level to ensure structural coherence and balanced semantic expression. A multimodal agent orchestrates this process as a planner and evaluator, enabling iterative improvement and interpretable control. Through an evaluation using both baseline comparisons and a user study, we demonstrate greater expressiveness, creativity, and concept recognizability by effectively leveraging positive and negative space. We further demonstrate the generalizability of our approach across diverse applications, including controllable image and infographic generation.

AnaDiffusion: Anatomically CompositionalLatent Diffusion for Controllable 3D Brain MRI Generation

3D brain MRI generation has made significant advances in medical imaging, simulation, and controllable anatomical analysis. However, existing generative models typically synthesize 3D volumes monolithically, often overlooking regional anatomical structures and limiting local controllability. To address these limitations, we introduce AnaDiffusion, an anatomically compositional latent diffusion framework that factorizes the generation process into distinct, anatomically meaningful regions, followed by part-to-whole assembly and global refinement. Our approach first trains part diffusion models to capture local structural priors. We then inject an assembled anatomical composite of the parts into the whole-brain latent representation and continue denoising. This mechanism enables the model to resolve global context while preserving the injected anatomy. As a result, AnaDiffusion produces both explicit part assets and a globally coherent volume, thereby enabling controllable part editing without requiring subject-specific dense segmentation maps at inference time while maintaining consistent part-to-whole brain structure. On the subject-disjoint ADNI test split, AnaDiffusion achieves the lowest FID across the whole brain, left and right hemispheres, cerebellar-brainstem complex, and seam regions. It also achieves the best cerebellar and second-best ventricular and brainstem absolute Cohen's d values among the evaluated methods. In localized editing experiments, paired MS-SSIM demonstrates high target transfer and off-target preservation, supporting controllable part replacement with minimal unintended anatomical alterations.

WithEveryone: Unified Planning and Identity Grounding for Group Image Generation

Identity-preserving image generation becomes increasingly unreliable when a scene must contain many specified people. Beyond retaining each identity, the model must bind every reference to a distinct person and location, while training-time identity losses must establish correspondence among several noisy predicted faces. We introduce WithEveryone, a unified framework for generating group images up to ten reference identities. WithEveryone injects each selected identity as an addressed token, predicts a structured identity--layout plan, and renders the plan as a visual condition. Its key objective, Layout-Grounded ID Loss, uses annotated face regions to supervise the intended identities directly, avoiding unstable embedding-based face matching; ID Representation Forcing additionally trains a prediction for each identity before image synthesis. On an identity-disjoint benchmark, WithEveryone achieves the highest target-context identity similarity, improving face similarity from 0.462 for GPT-Image-2 to 0.499, while reducing copy-paste artifacts from 0.169 to 0.055. It further covers 97.3% of the requested identities with a duplicate rate of only 2.8%. These results show that explicit identity--layout grounding enables identity-preserving generation to scale to larger groups without relying on direct reference-face copying.

UniWorld-Design: From Pixel Generation to Layer-Native Design

We introduce UniWorld-Design, a framework that redefines image generation from flat pixel synthesis to structured visual composition, with semantic RGBA layers as the atomic units of generation, understanding, and editing. Our key insight is that pixels define how an image is rendered, whereas layers define how an image is created, understood, and edited. Just as human designers create and manipulate visual content through layers rather than raw pixels, UniWorld-Design equips multimodal generative models with a layer-native design space. UniWorld-Design comprises two models. The Text-to-RGBA (T2RGBA) model generates standalone RGBA assets directly from text. The Image-to-Layer (I2L) model conditions on a finished image, a global instruction and per-layer prompts, and jointly produces ordered, complete semantic RGBA layers. Its instruction interface supports top-level decomposition, recursive decomposition and targeted extraction, making layering an instruction-addressable operation for agentic editing. Because I2L learns complete semantic objects rather than visible-pixel partitions, its layers stay usable when moved or removed. On the Crello benchmark, I2L reduces per-layer RGB L1 error by 37% and achieves a 34% relative improvement in Alpha Soft IoU over Qwen-Image-Layered. Separately, T2RGBA achieves the highest CLIP Score, outperforming LayerDiffuse and OmniAlpha.

StructGen: Disambiguating Multi-Reference Image Generation via Structured Context Modeling

Multi-reference image generation aims to synthesize images by integrating attributes from multiple reference images under textual instructions. As the number of references increases, the task necessitates complex semantic comprehension, such as correctly associating attributes with the intended subjects and planing out coherent spatial arrangement between subjects and their environments. Existing approaches, which rely solely on natural language instruction, often fail to capture these complex intentions precisely, leading to semantic misalignment and inconsistent generation. We identify two key factors behind these limitations: natural language instructions are often verbose and ambiguous, and high-quality multi-reference data is scarce. To address these issues, we propose StructGen, which employs a structured, dictionary-like format to encode multiple reference images, thereby enabling explicit and unambiguous specification of generation intentions. To support this design, we construct a structured dataset based on high-quality real images and develop a corresponding training framework, along with a dedicated benchmark for challenging multi-reference scenarios. Extensive experiments on both public benchmarks and our proposed benchmark demonstrate that StructGen consistently outperforms existing methods on both semantic alignment and detailed reference-generation consistency, especially under complex instructions with multiple references. TAMF-VTON: Texture-Aware Mask-Free Virtual Try-On via High-Fidelity Image Synthesis

Recent diffusion-based virtual try-on (VTON) methods remain limited by their reliance on segmentation masks, insufficient preservation of fine-grained textures, and limited support for arbitrary multi-garment compositions. Consequently, existing approaches still face significant challenges in real-world e-commerce deployment. We present TAMF-VTON, a texture-aware, mask-free framework that enables high-fidelity image synthesis under practical unconstrained conditions. Our method requires no human parsing or inpainting masks at inference time and supports diverse garment styles, categories, and quantities, enabling the simultaneous transfer of multiple items while preserving body structure and intricate texture details. This is achieved through a unified generative pipeline with three key components: (1) a lightweight Mixture-of-Experts (MoE) adaptation scheme that enables efficient fine-tuning without compromising the base model's general editing capabilities; (2) a frequency-domain supervision mechanism that explicitly optimizes high-frequency spectral consistency to preserve high-fidelity textures; and (3) a robust data curation pipeline employing an adaptive inpainting strategy to simulate the inverse VTON process for high-quality training pair generation. Extensive experiments demonstrate that our approach outperforms state-of-the-art methods in both quantitative metrics and perceptual quality. Optimized for efficiency, the model achieves inference in under 15 seconds per image on an NVIDIA RTX 4090 with INT4 quantization. By combining mask-free operation, flexible multi-garment composition, faithful texture preservation, and efficient inference on consumer hardware, TAMF-VTON demonstrates a commercially viable solution for scalable deployment in real-world digital fashion scenarios. LILAC: Layer-Wise Independent LoRAs and Cascaded Conditioning for Multi-Concept Customization of Diffusion Models

Personalizing text-to-image diffusion models to render several specific subjects in a coherent image remains challenging: the model must preserve each subject's identity while keeping the scene spatially and visually coherent. Methods that fuse independently trained concept adapters in a shared weight space (via federated averaging, gradient fusion, or orthogonality constraints) suffer from identity confusion and style bleeding. In this work, we show that composing concepts as separate image layers, instead of merging their adapters in a shared weight space, avoids parameter-level interference. We introduce LILAC, a framework that composes independently trained low-rank adapters at inference time: each subject is conditioned on the frozen composite of previously placed subjects, with exactly one adapter active at a time, therefore identities never interfere at the parameter level. LILAC composes the adapters without joint training, scales linearly with the number of concepts, and is backbone-agnostic. Under the Orthogonal Adaptation protocol, LILAC applied on Qwen-Image-Edit+Qwen-Image-Layered reaches an ArcFace detection rate of 0.861. Code is available at https://github.com/marianlupascu/LILAC.

Learning to Generate Multiple Objects from Dense and Occluded Layouts

Text-to-image diffusion models fail to generate correct object counts in dense scenes, where overlapping instances collapse into indistinguishable structures despite appearing visually plausible. We identify this as instance ownership collapse: tokens from overlapping objects interact freely through attention, while heavily occluded instances receive weak supervision due to their small visible areas. We address this through layout-aware attention biases that softly bias token interactions toward region-consistent grouping and suppress cross-instance leakage, paired with an amodal-balanced loss that amplifies gradients for occluded objects based on their occlusion level. To enable systematic evaluation, we introduce OverlapDepth-45K, a benchmark of densely overlapping scenes with amodal supervision. Our approach substantially improves count accuracy and prevents instance merging while preserving image quality. Project page: https://bachngoh.github.io/AIBL

PhotoQuilt: Training-Free Arbitrary-Resolution Photomosaics via Bootstrapped Tiled Denoising

Photomosaics are large images whose local regions are seen as independent tiles while their overall arrangement forms a coherent scene. Generating them at high resolution, with every tile convincing in its own right, is computationally expensive, since the canvas must hold many detailed tiles at once. We present PhotoQuilt, a training-free framework that generates photomosaics at arbitrary resolution. Diffusion models struggle to satisfy both scales at once, as direct high-resolution generation is costly and tends toward one smooth image rather than a mosaic, while patch-based tiling keeps local detail but loses global structure. PhotoQuilt resolves this with a bootstrapped tiled denoising procedure. We first produce a global composition at low resolution to fix the layout, then upscale it in latent space and re-inject noise to restore generative capacity. Denoising proceeds within fixed tiles, so each forms its own image while the shared global structure holds them in one layout. Because tile generation is handled separately, PhotoQuilt scales to large canvases without quadratic attention cost. Experiments show that PhotoQuilt outperforms current baselines on both global structure and local realism.

COMPASS: Grounding Composition-Intent Guidance in Unified Multimodal Models

Composition is a high-level visual intent that governs where subjects are placed and how a scene is organized, yet current unified multimodal models remain unreliable at fine-grained composition recognition and struggle to turn such intent into controllable generation. We present COMPASS, the first unified multimodal framework that grounds composition-intent control in a single system spanning both composition perception and composition-guided generation, with a shared expert token τcτ_c as the central intent anchor. On the perception side, COMPASS injects composition expertise into an MoE backbone in a minimally invasive manner and distills the inferred intent into τcτ_c. On the generation side, COMPASS reuses τcτ_c as a global conditioning signal that steers the denoising trajectory, effectively converting passive composition analysis into explicit layout control. To support systematic instruction-following composition learning and evaluation at scale, we construct Comp-11, a large-scale dataset with an 11-class taxonomy and reasoning-augmented annotations. Extensive experiments show that COMPASS substantially improves category-level composition understanding and delivers more composition-consistent, prompt-faithful generation than strong baselines.

UNITY: Attention Flow Networks for Adaptive Conditioning in Diffusion

We introduce UNITY, a Universal-to-Specialized adapter for efficient and scalable composite conditioning in diffusion based image generation. Unlike prior methods that train separate adapters for each conditioning modality, UNITY jointly learns shared semantics across multiple conditioning types and subsequently specializes without modifying the underlying architecture. The proposed two stage training paradigm consists of a Universal Stage that captures cross modal representations across all conditioning modalities using half of the total training steps, followed by a Specialization Stage that refines modality specific features using the remaining training budget. At the core of UNITY are the Morphable Attention Flow (MAF) Network and Morph Wrapper modules, which enable channel aware and spatially adaptive feature alignment through learnable flow fields and attention based fusion. This constant complexity formulation supports flexible operation under both single and composite conditioning settings while significantly reducing inference latency and memory consumption. Extensive experiments across multiple datasets demonstrate that UNITY achieves state of the art image fidelity while maintaining superior memory efficiency. Code: https://github.com/arya-domain/UNITY

CogCanvas: A Benchmark for Evaluating Multi-Subject Reference-Based Image Generation

Multi-subject reference-based image generation requires jointly preserving multiple human identities, binding per-person objects and fashion items, and respecting a specified background scene, a regime where current diffusion models remain brittle. Existing benchmarks evaluate only one axis at a time and none jointly captures multi-identity composition with human-object interaction, background grounding, and spatial plausibility. We introduce CogCanvas, a benchmark of 1,952 curated reference images spanning 100 celebrity identities, 115 distinctive objects and fashion items, and 29 real-world background scenes including landmarks, from which we construct 1,361 compositional prompts covering 2-5 person group sizes. The curation pipeline combines DINOv2-based deduplication, two-stage aesthetic filtering, and automated derivation of structured interaction and position graphs that serve as ground-truth supervision. CogCanvas supports three tasks, reference-based multi-human-object generation (primary), text-to-image compositional generation, and reference retrieval, under a unified six-axis evaluation protocol. We introduce two metrics tailored to the multi-reference setting: BG-Sim, which scores background fidelity on SAM 3-masked regions via DINOv3 feature similarity, and Attr-VQA, which uses a multimodal LLM to verify per-subject attribute binding and inter-person interactions against the structured graphs. Benchmarking five SOTA methods reveals that every model degrades substantially as group size grows from 2 to 5, with near-complete failure on object/fashion binding beyond three subjects.

The 1st PortraitCraft Challenge: A CVPR 2026 Workshop Competition on Portrait Composition Understanding and Generation

This paper presents an overview of the inaugural PortraitCraft Challenge, held as one of the official competitions at CVPR 2026. The challenge focuses on portrait composition understanding and generation, aiming to advance AI research in portrait aesthetics analysis and controllable image synthesis. Unlike existing datasets and tasks that primarily focus on global aesthetic scoring, PortraitCraft introduces a unified evaluation framework comprising two complementary tracks. Track 1 requires models to perform structured portrait composition understanding, and Track 2 requires models to generate portrait images from structured composition descriptions under explicit compositional constraints. To support the challenge, we constructed and publicly released a large-scale portrait composition dataset consisting of approximately 50,000 curated real portrait images, providing multi-level supervision. This report describes the challenge setup, evaluation protocols, dataset composition, and final results, along with an analysis of the technical characteristics of the submitted solutions. The PortraitCraft Challenge provides a standardized and reproducible platform for research on portrait composition understanding and generation, and is expected to foster further progress in the fields of portrait aesthetics and controllable image generation.

Divide-and-Denoise: A Game-Theoretic Method for Fairly Composing Diffusion Models

The abundance of pre-trained diffusion models provides an opportunity for composition. Combining several models, however, runs the risk of one model dominating or models disagreeing with each other. Here, we propose Divide-and-Denoise, a method for coordinating multiple pre-trained diffusion models during sampling. Much like managing a specialized workforce, our method creates a fair but efficient division of labor across models. Central to our method is the notion of an allocation which defines the responsibility of each model to every region of the noisy sample. At every timestep, we then denoise by (i) updating the allocation by solving a fair division game, where we divide the sample into regions that maximize total utility under fairness constraints, and (ii) aligning the models with this allocation, where we guide each model to denoise within its assigned region. This leads to a new composite denoising process that evolves in tandem with a division process. We evaluate Divide-and-Denoise on conditional image generation. Across several quality metrics, including the GenEval benchmark, our method outperforms baselines and resolves common failures including missing objects and mismatched attributes. Experiments show that Divide-and-Denoise utilizes each model's expertise without neglecting any other model.

ShotCrop3^3: Cropping Human-Centric Images into Cinematic Triple-Shot Compositions

Prior work on aesthetic composition typically produces a single aesthetically pleasing crop, overlooking the narrative value of composing multiple shots from one scene. In practice, multi-shot composition is critical for downstream creative workflows: commercial posters often require multiple crops with different emphases (e.g., context, subject, and emotion/product details) to present key story beats. Therefore, we propose \textbf{Triple-Shot Compositions (TSC)}, a composition task that generates a three-shot set -- establishing, medium, and close-up -- from a single human-centric image, each paired with a brief shot description to support visual narration. To learn TSC with limited expert annotations, we introduce \textbf{ShotCrop} which undergoes a three-stage training process: it first applies Chain-of-Thought supervised fine-tuning to establish basic reasoning and aesthetic shot-cropping skills, then performs semi-supervised fine-tuning with high-confidence pseudo labels to further enhance aesthetic capability, and is finally optimized with Group Relative Policy Optimization for \textbf{ShotCrop} (GRPO-S) using a composite reward tailored for it. Specifically, our pseudo-labeling strategy combines MLLM-based scoring, aesthetic assessment, and CLIP similarity to retain high-confidence training signals. In addition, we present TSC-Bench, a benchmark of 1.2k expert-annotated test cases. Notably, ShotCrop achieves an average improvement of \textbf{2.82} times over GPT-5 in shot localization accuracy.

MetaPoint: Unlocking Precise Spatial Control in Agentic Visual Generation

Generative visual models fundamentally struggle with precise spatial control. This arises from a core disconnect: models can process textual descriptions of space but cannot directly map numerical coordinates onto the 2D image canvas. We introduce MetaPoint, a method that bridges this gap by representing a continuous 2D coordinate as a single, special token. Crucially, MetaPoint requires no new architectural components; it directly leverages the model's inherent positional encoding schemes to interpret these coordinates, treating our token as a virtual point on the canvas. This lightweight approach enables pixel-level control of an object's position with one token or its bounding box with two, all without requiring architectural changes or bespoke attention masking. The MetaPoint tokens are designed to be compositional, serving as spatial primitives. This allows a planner agent to decompose a high-level user request into a structured sequence of primitives for the generator. By providing a simple, precise, and scalable building block for spatial control, MetaPoint unlocks more powerful compositional generative agents and enables intuitive, interactive editing systems.

Anchor-Conditioned Compositional Control for Landscape Image Generation

Image generative models, though widely used as creative tools, offer limited support for the kind of compositional control that photographers and visual artists routinely exercise. This paper presents early results on an anchor conditioned finetuning framework for landscape image generation, in which a four dimensional compositional anchor vector is extracted from training images and injected into a diffusion model via a decoupled cross attention mechanism with Fourier encoding and three way classifier free guidance dropout. Quantitative evaluation against a baseline and three ablation variants shows that the proposed architecture achieves the highest horizon detection rate of 0.850 and the highest rule of thirds alignment of 0.817. A category specific ablation further demonstrates that training on compositionally homogeneous scene subsets reduces horizon deviation by up to 40 percent compared to mixed training. This establishes that compositional control precision is category dependent.

Chameleon: Style-Content Disentangled Framework for Cross-Domain Object Compositing

Image compositing aims to seamlessly insert a foreground object into a background image, and recent advances in diffusion models have significantly enhanced the quality, especially when the foreground and background images come from the same domain (e.g., natural images). However, cross-domain compositing, where the foreground and background come from different domains, is underexplored and remains challenging because the model must preserve the foreground object's identity while stylizing it to match the background domain. Existing cross-domain compositing approaches largely rely on training-free blending and refinement strategies. This is partly due to the lack of large-scale paired datasets, limiting the development of training-based solutions. As a result, they are limited to tone-level alignment and often produce style-inconsistent or overstylized results. To overcome such limitations, we construct ChameleonDataset, the first large-scale training dataset for cross-domain compositing, with a comprehensive evaluation benchmark, built through a scalable data construction pipeline. Building on this, we propose Chameleon, a novel two-stage training-based cross-domain compositing framework. In the first stage, we propose Signed Style-Content Graph Learning (SSCGL) to train ChameleonEncoder, which effectively disentangles style and content representations. In the second stage, we introduce Style Gap-Aware Anisotropic Modulation (SGAM) into a diffusion transformer for effective cross-domain compositing, adaptively regulating how style tokens from the first-stage ChameleonEncoder are injected according to the foreground-background style gap, spatial region, and diffusion timestep. Our method outperforms state-of-the-art in-domain and cross-domain compositing models, sequential pipelines and commercial models, achieving improvements in both compositional plausibility and stylistic fidelity.

Coarse-to-Fine Compositional Diffusion for Long-Horizon Planning

Diffusion models provide strong priors for generating structured data, but many tasks require outputs beyond the scale on which these models are typically trained. Compositional generation addresses this by composing overlapping local plans from a pretrained short-horizon prior into a long-horizon output. However, standard composition primarily enforces agreement between neighboring local plans, yielding local consistency without directly specifying the global structure of the full composition. As a result, locally compatible plans may still form an implausible route, task sequence, or temporal evolution. Existing methods improve global coherence by repeatedly propagating local consistency signals or by adding inference-time optimization, but these procedures become expensive as the number or dimensionality of local plans increases. We propose Coarse-to-Fine Compositional Diffusion (CoFi), an inference-time sampler that separates global structure formation from local detail refinement. CoFi first aligns local denoised estimates around a shared coarse structure, producing a global scaffold that captures the long-range task-level arrangement. It then diffuses this scaffold to an intermediate noise level and denoises it with the same pretrained local prior, restoring local fine structure while preserving the scaffold-induced global coherence. Across long-horizon robotic planning, panoramic image generation, and long video generation, CoFi not only improves both global coherence and local sample quality over prior compositional baselines, but also requires 2-8x fewer denoiser evaluations.

Envisioning Beyond the Few: Disentangled Semantics and Primitives for Few-Shot Atypical Layout-to-Image Generation

The layout-to-image (L2I) task enables fine-grained control over image generation via object categories and spatial layouts. However, existing L2I methods yield fragmented and distorted generations under few-shot atypical settings. We term this failure as representation fragmentation, arising from a granularity mismatch that entangles semantic identity with visual details. To address this issue, we propose a representation-driven framework that disentangles semantics from primitives for robust few-shot adaptation. Specifically, Semantic Anchoring aggregates categorical semantics into anchors for stable identity, while Primitive Imbuing models recomposable primitives for robust local detail modeling. Conceptual Steering further regulates optimization with a saliency-aware objective to preserve foreground semantic consistency. Extensive experiments demonstrate consistent improvements in the 5-shot regime over state-of-the-art L2I methods in both visual fidelity and alignment across diverse atypical domains. BFS: Back-to-Front Layered Image Synthesis via Knowledge Transfer

As generative models expand the possibilities of visual content creation, layered image synthesis has emerged as a promising direction for controllable and creative editing. However, existing methods struggle to fully realize this potential. Decomposition-based methods often struggle with clean separation, while generation-based methods suffer from difficulty in training data acquisition, reducing quality and scene diversity. In this paper, we propose BFS, a novel generation-based framework for layered image synthesis. Specifically, given a background image and user guidance, BFS synthesizes a foreground layer that incorporates not only a foreground object but also its associated visual effects, such as shadows and reflections, while seamlessly harmonizing with the background to produce a coherent composite. To enable diverse and high-quality foreground layer synthesis while overcoming data scarcity, we leverage the comparatively easy-to-learn knowledge of unlayered image synthesis for the foreground synthesis. To this end, we adopt a dual-branch diffusion framework in which two interconnected branches generate a composite image and a foreground layer, respectively, enabling bidirectional knowledge transfer. Based on this framework, we propose a two-stage training scheme that utilizes a high-quality unlayered composite image dataset to effectively enhance foreground quality. Extensive experiments, including a user study, show that BFS produces high-quality layered images, consistently outperforming prior methods.

Composing People Together: Iterative Pose-Image Generation for Multi-Person Interaction Scenes

Despite recent progress, text-to-image models still struggle to generate semantically diverse and compositionally accurate multi-person interaction scenes, often collapsing to repetitive layouts, stereotypical poses, and poorly grounded interactions. In this work, we bridge this gap by introducing a dual pose-image representation that brings person-centric structural priors into pretrained diffusion transformers. Our model jointly predicts a 2D pose visualization image and its corresponding RGB image, enabling structure and appearance to co-evolve during learning. At its core, a cross-modal alignment scheme binds text, pose, and image representations, ensuring consistent grounding across modalities. Furthermore, we design an iterative scene construction scheme, progressively generating complex multi-human interactions while effectively decomposing the overall generation complexity. Extensive experiments demonstrate that our method substantially improves prompt alignment and scene diversity in multi-person image generation.

OcclusionFormer: Arranging Z-Order for Layout-Grounded Image Generation

Recent layout-to-image models have achieved remarkable progress in spatial controllability. However, they still struggle with inter-object occlusion. When bounding boxes overlap, most existing methods lack explicit occlusion information, which makes the generation in intersection regions inherently ambiguous and hinders the determination of complex occlusion relationships. As a result, they often produce entangled textures or physically inconsistent layering in the overlapped areas. To address this issue, we first construct SA-Z, a large-scale dataset enriched with explicit occlusion ordering and pixel-level annotations. Building upon our proposed dataset, we introduce OcclusionFormer, a novel occlusion-aware Diffusion Transformer framework that explicitly models Z-order priority by decoupling instances and compositing them via volume rendering. Furthermore, to ensure fine-grained spatial precision, we introduce a queried alignment loss that explicitly supervises individual instances and enhances semantic consistency. The proposed method effectively reduces ambiguity in overlapping regions, enforces correct occlusion dependencies, and preserves structural integrity, leading to substantial accuracy gains across diverse scenes.

TILT: Model-Intrinsic Reward Alignment For Compositional Diffusion

Consider conditional generation p(x∣C={c1,c2,…ck})p(x \mid C=\{c_1, c_2, \dots c_k\}) where CC is a prompt composed of multiple concepts cic_i. Diffusion models often struggle with compositional prompts, producing samples in which some concepts dominate while others are missing or weakly represented. Prior work attributes these failures to mode collision, where single-concept modes of p(x∣ci)p(x\mid c_i) overlap with modes of the joint p(x∣C)p(x \mid C). To seek out collision-free modes of p(x∣C)p(x \mid C), or "pure modes", corrector-based approaches have attempted to suppress collisions at intermediate diffusion times. However, local corrections are often heuristic and do not necessarily steer the generation to a "pure mode" in the final data space. Derived from a principled formulation, we present TILT (Test-time model-Intrinsic reward aLignment via Tilting), a training-free framework that poses eventual pure mode sampling as a reward for intermediate-time alignment. This reward offers valuable advantages: (1) it is intrinsic to the model, hence external reward models need not be trained by modality-specific datasets, (2) it yields a closed-form target under a variational approximation, which makes it realizable through standard diffusion sampling, and (3) it is interpretable, hence amenable to preference-based modifications.
