Overview

AI in financial services supports tasks such as credit assessment, fraud detection, document analysis, customer support, investment advice, and payment processing. Methods range from traditional machine learning and time-series models to financial foundation models, retrieval-augmented generation, and multi-agent systems that use tools and structured workflows. Researchers evaluate these systems on financial benchmarks and real operational data, while also studying fairness, security, regulatory compliance, and auditability. A central challenge is that strong task scores do not always translate into reliable end-to-end decisions: models can misuse evidence, violate user constraints, or behave inconsistently under changing conditions.
