Decentralized Finance
Overview
Decentralized finance studies financial services built on blockchains, where smart contracts let users trade, borrow, lend, and manage assets without traditional intermediaries. Work covers automated market maker liquidity and trade execution, on-chain credit and systemic risk, governance, fraud detection, and smart-contract security. Researchers use transaction and event analysis, graph and time-series models, reinforcement learning, simulation, and formal or execution-based checks of contracts and AI agents. A central challenge is making systems efficient and safe under changing protocols, adversarial behavior, and real transaction costs, since strong benchmark or simulation results may not transfer to live use.
