Altruistic Behavior
Altruistic behavior, the act of benefiting others at personal cost, is a complex phenomenon studied through various lenses, including evolutionary game theory and reinforcement learning. Current research focuses on understanding the conditions under which altruism emerges and persists, particularly in heterogeneous populations and within the context of social norms and reputation systems. This research utilizes models like the dictator game and explores how factors such as group dynamics, observation gaps, and the interaction between altruistic and selfish agents influence overall outcomes. Findings have implications for understanding cooperation in human societies and for designing more socially beneficial AI systems.
