PanoAffordanceNet: Towards Holistic Affordance Grounding in 360° Indoor Environments

Global perception is essential for embodied agents in 360° spaces, yet current affordance grounding remains largely object-centric and restricted to perspective views. To bridge this gap, we introduce a novel task: Holistic Affordance Grounding in 360° Indoor Environments. This task faces unique challenges, including severe geometric distortions from Equirectangular Projection (ERP), semantic dispersion, and cross-scale alignment difficulties. We propose PanoAffordanceNet, an end-to-end framework featuring a Distortion-Aware Spectral Modulator (DASM) for latitude-dependent calibration and an Omni-Spherical Densification Head (OSDH) to restore topological continuity from sparse activations. By integrating multi-level constraints comprising pixel-wise, distributional, and region-text contrastive objectives, our framework effectively suppresses semantic drift under low supervision. Furthermore, we construct 360-AGD, the first high-quality panoramic affordance grounding dataset. Extensive experiments demonstrate that PanoAffordanceNet significantly outperforms existing methods, establishing a solid baseline for scene-level perception in embodied intelligence. The source code and benchmark dataset will be made publicly available at https://github.com/GL-ZHU925/PanoAffordanceNet.

Spherical-GOF: Geometry-Aware Panoramic Gaussian Opacity Fields for 3D Scene Reconstruction

Omnidirectional images are increasingly used in robotics and vision due to their wide field of view. However, extending 3D Gaussian Splatting (3DGS) to panoramic camera models remains challenging, as existing formulations are designed for perspective projections and naive adaptations often introduce distortion and geometric inconsistencies. We present Spherical-GOF, an omnidirectional Gaussian rendering framework built upon Gaussian Opacity Fields (GOF). Unlike projection-based rasterization, Spherical-GOF performs GOF ray sampling directly on the unit sphere in spherical ray space, enabling consistent ray-Gaussian interactions for panoramic rendering. To make the spherical ray casting efficient and robust, we derive a conservative spherical bounding rule for fast ray-Gaussian culling and introduce a spherical filtering scheme that adapts Gaussian footprints to distortion-varying panoramic pixel sampling. Extensive experiments on standard panoramic benchmarks (OmniBlender and OmniPhotos) demonstrate competitive photometric quality and substantially improved geometric consistency. Compared with the strongest baseline, Spherical-GOF reduces depth reprojection error by 57% and improves cycle inlier ratio by 21%. Qualitative results show cleaner depth and more coherent normal maps, with strong robustness to global panorama rotations. We further validate generalization on OmniRob, a real-world robotic omnidirectional dataset introduced in this work, featuring UAV and quadruped platforms. The source code and the OmniRob dataset will be released at https://github.com/1170632760/Spherical-GOF.

JOPP-3D: Joint Open Vocabulary Semantic Segmentation on Point Clouds and Panoramas

Semantic segmentation across visual modalities such as 3D point clouds and panoramic images remains a challenging task, primarily due to the scarcity of annotated data and the limited adaptability of fixed-label models. In this paper, we present JOPP-3D, an open-vocabulary segmentation framework that jointly leverages panoramic and point cloud data to enable language-driven scene understanding. We convert RGB-D panoramic images into their corresponding wide field-of-view tangential perspectives and 3D point clouds, then use these modalities to extract and align foundational vision-language features. This allows natural language querying to generate semantic masks on both input modalities. Experimental evaluation on the Stanford-2D-3D-s and ToF-360 datasets demonstrates the capability of JOPP-3D to produce coherent and semantically meaningful segmentations across panoramic and 3D domains. Our proposed method achieves a significant improvement compared to the SOTA in open and closed vocabulary 2D and 3D semantic segmentation.

RePer-360: Releasing Perspective Priors for 360^\circ Depth Estimation via Self-Modulation

Recent depth foundation models trained on perspective imagery achieve strong performance, yet generalize poorly to 360^\circ images due to the substantial geometric discrepancy between perspective and panoramic domains. Moreover, fully fine-tuning these models typically requires large amounts of panoramic data. To address this issue, we propose RePer-360, a distortion-aware self-modulation framework for monocular panoramic depth estimation that adapts depth foundation models while preserving powerful pretrained perspective priors. Specifically, we design a lightweight geometry-aligned guidance module to derive a modulation signal from two complementary projections (i.e., ERP and CP) and use it to guide the model toward the panoramic domain without overwriting its pretrained perspective knowledge. We further introduce a Self-Conditioned AdaLN-Zero mechanism that produces pixel-wise scaling factors to reduce the feature distribution gap between the perspective and panoramic domains. In addition, a cubemap-domain consistency loss further improves training stability and cross-projection alignment. By shifting the focus from complementary-projection fusion to panoramic domain adaptation under preserved pretrained perspective priors, RePer-360 surpasses standard fine-tuning methods while using only 1% of the training data. Under the same in-domain training setting, it further achieves an approximately 20% improvement in RMSE. The code is available at https://github.com/munimo/RePer360.

SO3UFormer: Learning Intrinsic Spherical Features for Rotation-Robust Panoramic Dense Prediction

Panoramic dense-prediction models, spanning semantic segmentation and depth estimation, are typically trained under a strict gravity-aligned assumption. Real-world captures, however, routinely violate it: handheld devices jitter and aerial platforms change attitude, so the camera is rarely upright. Under such 3D reorientation, standard spherical Transformers overfit global latitude cues and collapse. We introduce SO3UFormer, an architecture that learns intrinsic spherical features largely decoupled from the underlying coordinate frame, through three geometric components: (1) removing absolute latitude encoding, which breaks the dependence on the gravity axis; (2) quadrature-consistent spherical attention, which corrects for non-uniform sampling density; and (3) a gauge-aware relative positional bias built from local tangent-plane angles rather than global axes. A logit-space \emph{SO(3)}-consistency regularizer, used only during training, further suppresses residual discretization effects. To benchmark robustness, we introduce Pose35, a variant of Stanford2D3D perturbed by random rotations within ±35\pm 35^\circ, and evaluate under a full, arbitrary \emph{SO(3)} stress test. There, the baseline SphereUFormer collapses from 67.53 \emph{mIoU} on Pose35 to 25.26 under the full \emph{SO(3)} test, whereas SO3UFormer reaches 72.03 on Pose35 and retains 70.67 under the same test. Similarly, on a second real-world dataset (Matterport3D) for segmentation and on panoramic depth estimation, SO3UFormer remains essentially rotation-invariant while the gravity-anchored baseline again loses most of its accuracy. Code and models are available at https://github.com/zhuqinfeng1999/SO3UFormer.

Hybrid Feedback-Guided Optimal Learning for Wireless Interactive Panoramic Scene Delivery

Immersive applications such as virtual and augmented reality impose stringent requirements on frame rate, latency, and synchronization between physical and virtual environments. To meet these requirements, an edge server must render panoramic content, predict user head motion, and transmit a portion of the scene that is large enough to cover the user viewport while remaining within wireless bandwidth constraints. Each portion produces two feedback signals: prediction feedback, indicating whether the selected portion covers the actual viewport, and transmission feedback, indicating whether the corresponding packets are successfully delivered. Prior work models this problem as a multi-armed bandit with two-level bandit feedback, but fails to exploit the fact that prediction feedback can be retrospectively computed for all candidate portions once the user head pose is observed. As a result, prediction feedback constitutes full-information feedback rather than bandit feedback. Motivated by this observation, we introduce a two-level hybrid feedback model that combines full-information and bandit feedback, and formulate the portion selection problem as an online learning task under this setting. We derive an instance-dependent regret lower bound for the hybrid feedback model and propose AdaPort, a hybrid learning algorithm that leverages both feedback types to improve learning efficiency. We further establish an instance-dependent regret upper bound that matches the lower bound asymptotically, and demonstrate through measurements on an end-to-end testbed that AdaPort outperforms state-of-the-art learning-based baselines as well as the heuristic minimum scene delivery scheme.

Panorama: Fast-Track Nearest Neighbors

Approximate Nearest-Neighbor Search (ANNS) pipelines for high-dimensional neural embeddings spend the bulk of their query time in candidate verification, making it the primary bottleneck in the search process. In this paper, we present PANORAMA, a state-of-the-art refinement technique that accelerates verification by exploiting the inherent spectral decay of these embeddings. Using PCA to compact signal energy, PANORAMA evaluates candidate distances incrementally, computing at each step a strict lower bound on the full-vector distance and dynamically pruning candidates the moment this bound exceeds the running k-th nearest neighbor distance. While PCA's concentration of variance facilitates pruning, it breaks the uniform-variance assumption required by Product Quantization (PQ); we resolve this with a variance-shaping step that redistributes energy across subvectors, rendering accretive refinement compatible with quantized indexes. Optimized for modern memory hierarchies via vectorized bulk-pruning and cache-conscious data layouts, PANORAMA has been upstreamed into the FAISS library across major index families (IVFPQ/Flat, HNSW, and Refine). PANORAMA achieves higher QPS at any target recall with a cost that provably scales inversely with dataset spectral decay, delivering end-to-end speedups of up to 28.9x and outperforming probabilistic methods across all recall bands.
