Overview

3D shape editing studies how to make targeted changes to a digital object while keeping its intended structure and other parts intact. Methods use mesh deformation, implicit or point-based representations, Gaussian splats, and generative models guided by text, images, sketches, masks, or semantic parts. Some rely on optimization or inversion for precise control, while feed-forward models aim to make edits faster and consistent across viewpoints. A central challenge is balancing strong, localized edits with preservation of unedited geometry, appearance, and identity; reliable evaluation of complex iterative edits remains difficult.

UMAS3D: Unified Mask-Free 3D Editing with Region-Adaptive Source Preservation

3D editing aims to modify an existing 3D asset according to user intent while preserving geometry and appearance outside the intended edit region. Existing methods often rely on task-specific training, source-3D inversion, or external 3D masks, and lack a unified framework for diverse editing conditions and tasks. We propose UMAS3D, a unified 3D editing framework that is training-free, inversion-free, and free from external 3D masks. UMAS3D converts text, bounding boxes, reference images, and their combinations into common target-view guidance, after which addition, deletion, modification, appearance, and pose editing share the same downstream 3D generation process. Our key insight is to couple online edit-region estimation with region-aware source preservation. Mask-Free Adaptive Region Modeling (MARM) initializes an Edit/Keep prior from source-target visual differences and progressively refines it as the target structure evolves, while Source-Guided Preservation Steering (SGPS) constrains the current Keep-region states to retain source geometry and appearance without suppressing target-driven changes. Experiments show that UMAS3D supports addition, deletion, modification, appearance, and pose editing while effectively preserving unedited source content. These advances make UMAS3D a unified framework for flexible and source-preserving 3D editing across diverse editing conditions.

NL2Hull: A Natural Language-Driven Constrained Ship Design Decision Framework

Ship-form design combines smooth geometric representation, local shape editing, and constraints on the resulting hull. We present the Natural-Language-to-Hull Framework (NL2Hull Framework), which formulates ship-form editing as a typed discrete decision problem and connects language decisions to numerical geometry. Its Constrained Free-Form Deformation Engine (CFFD Engine) represents hull waterlines with non-uniform rational B-splines (NURBS), applies free-form deformation (FFD) to their control points, reconstructs the hull, and checks geometric constraints. We construct the Ship Design Decision Dataset (SDD Dataset) with 134,558 cleaned records and evaluate compared models on its subset Ship Design Decision Benchmark (SDDBench), containing 5,000 records and 43,496 typed questions. We propose Chip, a constrained ship-design decision model for processing natural-language requests. Chip reaches 95.90% question accuracy and 99.32% FFD exact match, with a negative log-likelihood of 0.0951, an expected calibration error of 0.0032, and a Brier score of 0.0551. The NL2Hull Framework provides a reproducible interface for evaluating language-based ship-form decisions while identifying the geometry and continuous-control components that require further development. StyleFields: Multi-Scale AdaIN-Modulated Implicit SDFs for Coarse-to-Fine 3D Shape Reconstruction and Editing

We introduce StyleFields, a DeepSDF-based architecture for high-fidelity 3D reconstruction that enables controllable geometric style mixing: the coarse structure of one object can be combined with the fine-scale details of another. The core idea is depth-aware modulation: instead of a single global code, we inject latents via multi-level Adaptive Instance Normalization at several decoder depths, and supervise matching auxiliary heads with a coarse-to-fine schedule while gradually growing network depth. This aligns early layers with global shape and later layers with high-frequency detail, achieving content-style decoupling without part labels or adversarial training. StyleFields delivers faithful reconstructions, convincing cross-instance hybrids, and consistent gains in ablations over injection depth and supervision granularity. We further demonstrate a practical application in automotive aerodynamics: a learned surrogate drag predictor serves as a differentiable objective to optimize reconstructed cars, allowing targeted edits of global form or surface details by freezing the complementary latent stream. StyleFields offers a simple, effective recipe for controllable implicit reconstruction and downstream performance-driven design.

AnchorGen: Anchored Optimization for Customizable Generative 3D Design

Engineering design often starts from a 2D sketch that fixes style and proportions, yet the subsequent 3D shape optimization relies on learned generative priors to keep the geometry valid. However, these priors are agnostic to the sketch: while they admit a valid design by correcting a drifted proposal back to its training distribution, they often correct it towards the high-density region, ignoring the specified design. We introduce AnchorGen, a rectified-flow framework trained unconditionally on the concatenated shape and sketch latents of paired data. The learned manifold represents the joint distribution of shape-sketch pairs, so constraining the sketch component restricts the iterate to the sub-manifold of shapes consistent with a target style. Since training employs no conditioning signal, the constraint is imposed at inference: gradient descent optimizes the shape latent to minimize a differentiable drag surrogate, while constraining the sketch latent to remain close to the target sketch via a token-wise cosine penalty. A single model thereby supports design-preserving optimization, dimensionally explicit design edits, and sketch-only synthesis.

ManifoldSplat: Language-Guided Semantic Shape Editing of 3D Gaussian Head Avatars

High-fidelity 3D head avatars have reached near-photorealistic quality. While recent methods enable text-driven manipulation, they struggle to provide fine-grained localized control, often entangling features or lacking geometric consistency. Modifying geometry through natural language currently requires slow per-prompt optimization or compromises identity and rigging. We present ManifoldSplat, the first end-toend framework for language-guided semantic shape editing of animatable 3D Gaussian Splatting avatars reconstructed from monocular videos. By performing edits within the structured FLAME manifold rather than directly optimizing an unstructured Gaussian cloud, we strictly preserve identity and animation. We introduce DeltaRegion, a per-region disentangled Conditional Variational Autoencoder (CVAE) delivering feedforward shape deltas, alongside a refining stage to recover view-consistent details. ManifoldSplat reconstructs and edits an avatar in ~90 seconds on a consumer GPU, rendering at ~800 FPS. Extensive evaluations demonstrate our approach sets a new state-of-the-art in localized prompt alignment, geometric coherence, and identity preservation. EditHero: A Benchmark for Long-Horizon Part-Level 3D Editing and Vibe Modeling

3D editing methods are usually tested on a single edit, yet an asset is built through a long sequence of revisions, each of which must implement the requested change while leaving everything else unchanged. We introduce EditHero, to our knowledge the first benchmark for long-horizon, part-level 3D editing, with natural-language instructions and target images for both geometry and texture. A deterministic assembly engine produces the exact target after every edit, and every sequence is reviewed by hand. We use EditHero to compare 2 opposite approaches to 3D editing. Non-agentic methods operate top down, regenerating the object from a learned 3D representation and inferring what to keep. In contrast, LLM/VLM agents operate bottom up, editing through code that inspects the mesh and rewrites only the parts required by instructions. The non-agentic methods often miss the requested change and disturb regions that should stay fixed. Most LLMs follow instructions more closely, and all of them preserve the unedited parts better, but each of their edits takes minutes. We will release the engine and the edit sequences to support research on reliable iterative 3D editing.

Learning 3D Editing without Paired Supervision via Generative Prior Distillation

Instruction-guided 3D editing is essential for interactive content creation, yet it faces a significant bottleneck: the severe scarcity of high-quality paired training data. Existing approaches attempt to bypass this by either relying on slow test-time optimization or training on pseudo-pairs constructed via complex pipelines, which often introduce structural drift and geometric artifacts. In this paper, we propose a novel framework that learns feed-forward 3D editing without paired 3D supervision via Generative Prior Distillation. Instead of relying on ground-truth 3D pairs, our core idea is to distill visual, semantic, and geometric knowledge from powerful foundation models directly into a 3D editing model. Specifically, through a differentiable rendering pipeline, we supervise the 3D representation using two complementary signals: a 2D visual prior from an image editing model at the main editing view, and a semantic prior from a Vision-Language Model at novel views to ensure strict instruction following and source identity preservation. Crucially, to address the geometric collapse and multi-view inconsistencies inherent in 2D projection supervision, we introduce a 3D-aware Distribution Matching regularization. Acting as a geometric prior, this term operates in the 3D latent space, constraining the edited output to remain within the manifold of realistic 3D assets defined by a pretrained image to 3D teacher model. Extensive experiments demonstrate that our method achieves superior instruction fidelity and cross-view consistency, significantly outperforming state-of-the-art baselines. P-CORE: Self-Supervised Surface Consistency for Point-Based Neural Editing

Advances in neural rendering have enabled high-fidelity multi-view reconstruction of 3D scenes. However, free-form non-rigid shape editing remains a significant challenge. Point-based neural representations are highly desirable for multi-view reconstruction because they lack fixed connectivity, which does not constrain the learned surface topology to that of the initialization. Yet this same property causes point-based representations to struggle with holes and surface discontinuities under large deformations. To address this, we propose a novel self-supervised method to enable point-based representations to adapt to large deformations without requiring ground truth multi-view images of deformed geometry. The key idea is to generate random deformations and to ensure consistency in the predicted surface before and after deformation. In particular, the surface prediction from the deformed point cloud should be the same as the deformation applied to the surface prediction from the original point cloud. We incorporate our approach into attention-based point representations, which differ from splatting-based point representations in their use of a learned interpolation kernel between points as opposed to a Gaussian kernel around each point. This learned interpolation kernel can learn to adapt to large deformations, without requiring addition or removal of points. We show that our framework significantly enhances its robustness to large deformations. Experiments on synthetic geometry editing benchmarks (Neural Editor, Objaverse) demonstrate that our approach outperforms existing point-based methods in zero-shot editing and significantly reduces artifacts. Furthermore, qualitative results on the DTU and Mip-NeRF 360 datasets demonstrate our method's effectiveness on real-world scenes.

PointGT: Simultaneous Geometry and Texture Editing for Point-Based Representations

We present PointGT, a point-based 3D representation that enables simultaneous editing of object geometry and appearance. Existing reconstruction and view synthesis techniques produce volumetric 3D representations that are high-quality and photorealistic, but are difficult to edit. In particular, recent efforts to enable texture editing for 3D Gaussian Splatting representations are not compatible with geometry edits and deformations. Our method combines a point-based representation that is well-suited for geometry deformations with a learned UV mapping technique that enables high-resolution texture editing. We show that PointGT enables fine-grained editing of both geometry and texture in point-based neural representations with high rendering quality.

OrnaStyler: Ornament-Aware Latent Editing for Content-Preserving 3D Stylization

Text-guided style editing of 3D assets is essential for adapting existing objects to diverse visual aesthetics in digital content creation. Despite rapid progress in 3D shape modeling, faithfully stylizing an existing asset remains challenging when the desired stylization involves fine-grained structural ornamentation, which requires the model to preserve the source geometry and object identity, while coherently integrating new style-specific details. We propose OrnaStyler, a zero-shot framework for text-guided ornament-aware 3D stylization. Built upon rectified flow-based generative modeling, OrnaStyler introduces an inversion-guided editing strategy that recovers content-aware latent representations at both geometry and appearance levels in a staged manner to facilitate faithful editing. Our core idea is to explicitly model the spatial configuration of stylistic elements, thereby mitigating the fundamental tension between content preservation and style expression in the voxel space. Specifically, at the geometry level, we manipulate voxel representations through flow inversion to synthesize ornament-enhanced structures while preserving the spatial identity of the source asset. Then, at the appearance level, we introduce an adjacency-aware feature inpainting mechanism to harmonize newly generated ornaments with the original content, yielding coherent geometry-appearance integration. Our approach operates solely in the inference phase and enables selective editing over geometric augmentation or appearance stylization. Extensive experiments on both generated and real-world 3D assets against prior methods demonstrate that OrnaStyler achieves state-of-the-art editing performance in terms of content preservation, style fidelity, and overall visual realism. InstructMesh: Selective Refinement of Generative 3D Models for Fabrication

Recent advances in generative AI allow users to create 3D models from text or images. However, these models prioritize visual plausibility over geometric accuracy, often generating results with flaws that compromise their intended use post-fabrication. We present InstructMesh, an interactive post-generation refinement tool that enables selective repair of generative 3D models through region selection and targeted operations, such as opening or sealing voids, or adjusting local thickness. Users can invoke edit operations via natural language prompts or slider controls. By operating directly on the intermediate latent representation, InstructMesh allows users to apply robust geometric corrections without requiring expert modeling skills. To inform our design, we first analyze common fabrication-related failure modes in outputs from state-of-the-art generative tools. We then conduct two user studies, demonstrating that novices can identify and perform fabrication-relevant repairs on generative outputs using InstructMesh, and revealing user preference for hybrid interfaces that combine slider controls with natural language input.

AgenticCADedit: A Stateful, Tool-Mediated Agentic Approach to Multimodal 3D CAD Editing

Computer-aided design is central to industrial manufacturing, and much of a designer's daily work consists of editing existing models from multimodal requests involving speech, sketches, and model interaction. Existing neural CAD approaches focus predominantly on unconditional or text-conditioned generation. The neuralCAD-Edit approach formalizes expert multimodal editing requests, but its iterative baseline refines a complete CAD program across attempts, executing each attempt from the original model in a stateless CAD environment. Every attempt must therefore reconstruct the entire edit from scratch, so partially correct progress is discarded rather than accumulated, and the model can neither inspect the geometry it has just produced nor selectively revert a single faulty operation. We present AgenticCADedit, which turns editing into a sequence of small, verifiable actions on a persistent CAD state instead of a single regenerated program. Rather than emitting one complete program, it applies incremental code steps that each commit to the session, inspects the resulting faces and edges, renders highlighted selections to verify that the intended region was addressed, and reverts individual operations when it was not. Subsequent actions therefore build on the geometry produced by earlier ones. Our approach improves on all metrics for all three evaluated LLMs (open-weight: qwen3.6-27b, gemma4-31b; proprietary: gpt-5.6-luna), with the largest gains for the weakest baseline model, qwen3.6-27b, whose validity rises from 51.0% to 94.8% and acceptance from 1.6% to 12.0%. A token-cost analysis with gpt-5.6-luna further shows 66.766.7% fewer output tokens than neuralCAD-Edit, while 94.894.8% of input tokens are served from the prompt cache.

ViSculpt: Visual-Centric Agentic Geometry Editing

3D geometry editing is a critical yet labor-intensive part of the graphics pipeline, requiring artists to translate creative intent into precise operations in complex professional software. Large language models (LLMs) have shown promise for script-based 3D creation, but script generation is less suited to perception-driven editing of arbitrary existing meshes, where execution must remain visually grounded and untouched regions should be preserved. We present a visual-centric, training-free multi-agent system that edits existing 3D meshes directly in Blender by emulating the iterative workflow of human artists. Rather than generating scripts or regenerating geometry, our system operates through the Blender GUI: multimodal LLM agents observe the viewport, reason about the current mesh state, and execute localized edits through simulated user interactions. Experiments on a curated benchmark provide initial evidence that this agentic approach can follow natural language instructions, perform representative localized mesh edits, and preserve the overall identity of the input asset. Our results highlight a complementary regime for language-driven 3D editing: direct in-place modification of existing meshes within the native 3D editing workflow. We view this work as an exploratory step toward visual-centric agentic geometry editing in professional graphics software.

SemanticSlider3D: Training-Free Continuous Semantic Editing for 3D Objects

Fine-grained control over continuous semantic attributes of 3D objects is essential for 3D content creation, but is not well supported by conventional 3D modeling workflows or prompt-based interaction with existing generative AI tools. While slider-based methods have proven effective for fine-grained semantic control in 2D image generation, no equivalent approach exists for 3D. Extending these 2D methods to 3D is non-trivial due to challenges unique to 3D, including geometric integrity and cross-view coherence. We present SemanticSlider3D, a technique for continuous semantic attribute editing of 3D objects that requires no per-attribute training. Given a user-specified attribute, our pipeline constructs a semantic editing direction in the latent space of a state-of-the-art 3D generation model, presenting a diverse and coherent spectrum of 3D variations. A technical validation on a dataset of 50 3D object-attribute pairs shows our method was preferred by all five human assessors across variation range, consistency, 3D object quality, and attribute disentanglement, over a baseline combining a 2D slider with an image-to-3D model. An exploratory study with six participants demonstrates that SemanticSlider3D supported decision-making in 3D prototyping and was perceived as a valuable addition to existing workflows.

RADmesh: Remesh-Aware Mesh Deformation

We propose a remeshing-enhanced method for generatively deforming shapes with visual losses. It is intuitive that sufficiently drastic deformations of a mesh without changing its triangulation can easily compromise element quality, even if such large geometry changes may be semantically desired. Shape deformation methods could thus benefit from changing the triangulation; however, this is not done by most generative, text-based, visually-supervised mesh deformation methods. Remeshing is a discrete operation, proven to be especially challenging to couple with the notoriously noisy supervision signal provided by visual losses. We propose a vertex-based deformation optimization quantity capable of large deformations and robustness to such noise; we periodically remesh using an isotropic remesher that interpolates and carries forward the deformation optimization state. This enables continuous, geometry-informed progress in coarse-to-fine addition of resolution. The resulting shapes' triangulations fit their optimized geometry and have neat isotropic elements. Further, our method is localizable, able to grow new features on a base shape with expressive detail, leaving the rest unchanged. We showcase the effectiveness of our method on a variety of shapes and prompts, both local and global deformations, and demonstrate its superior visual quality and triangle efficiency. ES3D: Embedding Semantics into 3D Space for Component-Aware Editing

Existing 3D editing methods have made notable progress in controllability, yet they remain limited in several important ways. Most approaches rely on text-driven editing, which struggles to express fine-grained visual changes intended by the user. Moreover, many methods require manually supplied 3D masks or introduce unintended changes to regions that should remain untouched. These limitations largely arise from the absence of fine-grained semantic understanding, making it difficult for existing models to retrieve or modify specific 3D components. We introduce ES3D, a framework that embeds semantics directly into 3D space, enabling component-aware retrieval and editing of a 3D asset conditioned on multiple local reference images and optional text queries. We first construct a 3D semantic embedding by projecting multi-view semantic features into the voxelized space of the asset. We then perform 3D component retrieval by computing feature similarity between the 3D semantic embedding and the semantic embeddings of image or text queries. For editing, we employ a pretrained 3D generative model with an inpainting mechanism to modify the retrieved components guided by user-provided images while preserving the rest of the asset. Overall, ES3D is a 3D editing framework that retrieves editable regions based on semantic cues and uses multiple images as conditions. Extensive experiments demonstrate that ES3D produces geometrically consistent and semantically coherent edits, enabling robust image-based and text-assisted control for 3D editing.

RAGMesh with FaME-G2E: Long-Form Text-Driven 3D Face Generation and Editing

Text-driven 3D face generation and editing remains challenging due to the difficulty of translating long-form descriptions into fine-grained facial geometry. Existing methods primarily align global textual semantics with facial structures but often struggle to capture subtle local deformations, such as eyebrow tension, cheek contraction, and asymmetric mouth motions, resulting in limited geometric fidelity and editing precision. To facilitate fine-grained text-driven facial modeling, we first construct FaME-G2E, a large-scale multimodal dataset containing detailed text--mesh annotations and paired text--blendshape samples for unified 3D facial generation and editing. Based on this dataset, we propose RAGMesh, a retrieval-augmented framework that leverages text-correlated geometric priors to improve high-fidelity facial synthesis and editing. Specifically, the Multi-Scale Retrieval Fusion (MSRF) module retrieves semantically consistent global and regional facial priors and fuses them in the blendshape space, suppressing conflicting local deformations while preserving coherent deformation patterns. Furthermore, we introduce Adaptive RAG-guided Supervision (AdaRAGS), a region-aware constraint that explicitly aligns textual semantics with corresponding facial regions, enhancing regional controllability and editing accuracy. Extensive experiments on FaME-G2E demonstrate that RAGMesh achieves superior performance over state-of-the-art methods in local geometric accuracy, text-guided controllability, regional editing precision, and inference efficiency. Video demo is available at https://youtu.be/Yr0_XkpWcNk, and the source code and dataset will be released upon paper acceptance.

EditFlow3D: Automated Local Editing of 3D Assets with Trajectory Preservation

Controllable local editing of 3D assets requires precise target localization and appropriate visual guidance. However, existing methods lack a simple yet accurate way to obtain 3D masks and struggle to achieve the desired edit while faithfully preserving the structure and appearance of non-target regions. To address these challenges, we present EditFlow3D, a training-free framework for local 3D editing. Given a source asset and an edit instruction, a VLM-driven workflow interprets the editing intent and automatically constructs a visual guidance image and a refined 3D editing mask, enabling localized editing in the native representation space of a pretrained 3D generative model. Specifically, mask-guided differential flow focuses the edit on the target region, while step-wise trajectory preservation maintains consistency between non-target regions and the source asset without directly replacing intermediate features. Since the existing Edit3D-Bench covers only a limited range of local editing categories, we further introduce EditFlow-Bench as a complementary benchmark encompassing a broader variety of structural and appearance edits, and evaluate EditFlow3D on both benchmarks. Quantitative results, qualitative comparisons, and a user study demonstrate that EditFlow3D achieves more accurate target-region editing and better preserves non-target regions than existing 3D editing methods.

Hunyuan3D-Buffalo 1.0: A Unified Multimodal Model for Scalable 3D Generation, Understanding, and Editing

Recent advances in image generation have demonstrated the potential of unified multimodal models that integrate understanding, generation, and editing. However, unified 3D modeling remains constrained by scarce multimodal data, particularly the lack of large-scale and geometrically consistent editing data. To address this limitation, we propose Hunyuan3D-Buffalo 1.0, a unified framework supporting 3D understanding, text-to-3D generation, instruction-guided 3D editing, and text-grounded part generation within a single architecture. To enable scalable training, we construct an 87M-scale 3D multimodal corpus, comprising 25M understanding samples, 50M text-to-3D pairs, and 12M editing pairs generated using Nano3D-v2. Architecturally, the framework combines Hunyuan3D-VLM for semantic, structural, and spatial understanding with Hunyuan3D DiT for high-fidelity 3D synthesis. The VLM provides multimodal semantic conditions for generation, while editing and part generation additionally condition the diffusion process on the source object representation to preserve its overall structure and unedited regions. Extensive experiments show that Hunyuan3D-Buffalo 1.0 achieves state-of-the-art or leading performance on text-to-3D generation and 3D editing benchmarks, while exhibiting strong understanding and part-generation capabilities. Our analysis further shows that both generation and understanding improve editing, demonstrating the effectiveness of unified 3D multimodal training. CNS-Edit++: Category-Agnostic 3D Editing with Coupled Neural Shape Representation

This paper presents a latent-space 3D shape editing framework built upon a coupled neural shape (CNS) representation and a neural feature volume optimization. This work extends CNS-Edit, built on Coupled Neural Shape optimization, to CNS-Edit++, by generalizing the category-specific coupled representation to category-agnostic 3D shape editing with foundation models. The Coupled Neural Shape (CNS) representation couples a global latent code that captures high-level shape semantics with a 3D neural feature volume that provides spatial context for local shape manipulation. Then we formulate a coupled neural shape optimization procedure that co-optimizes these two components subject to a given editing operation. Our framework can be instantiated on both the category-specific 3D inversion model and category-agnostic 3D foundation models. We provide various shape editing operators, including copy, resize, delete, mix, point-wise drag, and region-wise drag, each of which is formulated as an objective to guide the CNS optimization. To preserve regions outside the editing area, we further introduce two complementary region-wise control mechanisms, i.e., KV-cache replacement and latent feature regularization. Extensive quantitative and qualitative evaluations across different 3D generative models demonstrate the strong capabilities of our approach over state-of-the-art solutions.

TanGO: Training-Free 3D Editing via Tangent-Space Guidance and Optimization

While recent flow-matching 3D generative models (e.g., VecSet) adopt structured representations, their tokens share global context, causing conventional training-free editing to suffer from semantic artifacts such as collapsed preserved regions or incomplete transformations. To address this, we propose TanGO, a training-free framework that enables adaptive per-token steering in the tangent space of generative dynamics. To realize this selective control, we formulate a one-step optimal control rule and determine the strength of each token's control signal using a von Mises-Fisher inspired directional discrepancy derived from the source and target velocity fields. Experiments show that TanGO substantially reduces structural artifacts and achieves state-of-the-art performance, outperforming existing 3D editing baselines. The code is publicly available at https://github.com/siw00-lim/TanGO.

Compos3D: Interactive Part-Based Composition for Creative Control in Generative 3D Models

While generative AI has unlocked new opportunities for 3D content creation, current workflows often rely on multiple regenerations, which provides limited control and unpredictable outcomes. We present Compos3D, a system that introduces a compositional workflow for generative 3D modeling through remixing. Instead of repeatedly regenerating models, users generate multiple candidates from text or image prompts, select parts of interest via 2D image regions or 3D mesh segments, and assemble them into a coherent design. The system synthesizes these compositions into a refined 3D model, preserving high-level intent while resolving low-level geometry. To evaluate this approach, we conducted a controlled user study comparing remixing and regeneration workflows across both 2D and 3D modalities. Results show that the remixing workflow provides participants with greater creative control, stronger alignment with their intent, and higher satisfaction. We conclude with design recommendations for future AI-assisted 3D modeling workflows.

EditVerse3D: High-Quality 3D Object Editing with Region-Aware Learning

Local editing of 3D objects remains a long-standing challenge. When interacting with 3D content, humans naturally tend to specify a coarse region of interest for modification rather than defining precise editing boundaries. However, previous methods rely on fully edited 2D images, precise 3D masks, or redundant pipelines, which present a gap. To bridge this gap, we propose EditVerse3D, a novel 3D editing framework that enables high-quality object editing under such coarse guidance. Our approach takes as input a 3D object to be edited, a coarse 3D bounding box indicating the target region, and a reference 2D image describing the desired modification. It produces a coherent, high-fidelity edited 3D object. To facilitate this editing, we introduce a novel region-aware adaptive loss that emphasizes hard-to-learn regions and balances the objective between target and preserved areas. Complementing our loss function, we enhance model robustness and generalization through targeted data augmentations, such as training with scaled 3D masks and filtering out unrealistic editing pairs. We construct a large-scale 3D editing dataset derived from parts information. Extensive experiments demonstrate that EditVerse3D achieves superior visual quality and quantitative performance compared to existing 3D editing approaches. NeuMesh++: Towards Versatile and Efficient Volumetric Editing with Disentangled Neural Mesh-based Implicit Field

Recently neural implicit rendering techniques have evolved rapidly and demonstrated significant advantages in novel view synthesis and 3D scene reconstruction. However, existing neural rendering methods for editing purposes offer limited functionalities, e.g., rigid transformation and category-specific editing. In this paper, we present a novel mesh-based representation by encoding the neural radiance field with disentangled geometry, texture, and semantic codes on mesh vertices, which empowers a set of efficient and comprehensive editing functionalities, including mesh-guided geometry editing, designated texture editing with texture swapping, filling and painting operations, and semantic-guided editing. To this end, we develop several techniques including a novel local space parameterization to enhance rendering quality and training stability, a learnable modification color on vertex to improve the fidelity of texture editing, a spatial-aware optimization strategy to realize precise texture editing, and a semantic-aided region selection to ease the laborious annotation of implicit field editing. Extensive experiments and editing examples on both real and synthetic datasets demonstrate the superiority of our method on representation quality and editing ability. 3DMorph: Single-Image-Guided Local 3D Shape Editing and Morphing

Despite recent progress in 3D generation, intuitive editing of existing shapes remains limited. Unlike images, which benefit from well-established inpainting tools, general 3D objects such as meshes still lack simple and effective methods for local shape editing. Existing approaches are often global, domain-specific, require complex user interaction, or focus on appearance (color and texture) rather than geometry. We introduce 3DMorph, a training-free framework for single-image-guided local 3D shape editing and morphing. Given an edited image showing a desired shape modification, our method automatically localizes the relevant 3D region and transfers 2D modifications to 3D while preserving unmodified areas. 3DMorph also enables intermediate shape generation between the original and edited objects, facilitating design exploration. To benchmark editing quality, we introduce Delta3D, an image-guided local 3D editing benchmark with paired ground-truth edits. Experimental results show that 3DMorph translates intuitive 2D edits into 3D, outperforming state-of-the-art generative and editing methods.

Feedforward 3D Editing Learns from Semantic-Part Transformation

3D editing is a fundamental capability for scalable 3D content creation. While image editing has rapidly evolved toward large-scale feedforward generative paradigms, 3D AI generation remains dominated by training-free editing pipelines. A central challenge of feedforward 3D editing lies in the lack of high-quality paired supervision. Editable 3D assets require simultaneous preservation of geometry, multi-view consistency, structural coherence, and localized edit controllability. Existing 3D editing datasets often rely on independently generated assets, image-mediated reconstruction or narrow edit taxonomies, leading to inaccurate localization, weak preservation, blurred edit boundaries, and limited semantic consistency. In this work, we introduce a new perspective: scalable feedforward 3D editing should be learned from semantic-part transformations. Based on this insight, we propose Pxform, a high-quality 3D editing dataset with over 100K consistent before/after editing pairs across seven edit types. Instead of treating objects as unstructured shapes, our pipeline grounds edits directly in semantic 3D parts. Built upon Pxform, we further propose PartFlow, a feedforward 3D editing network that injects source-aware latent control into pretrained 3D generative priors. PartFlow introduces mask-aware velocity preservation and render-space consistency supervision to jointly improve edit fidelity and source preservation, while requiring no 3D edit mask during inference. Extensive experiments demonstrate that high-quality semantic-part supervision substantially improves scalable 3D editing, enabling PartFlow to achieve state-of-the-art performance on both geometric and appearance editing benchmarks.

Fishbone: From One 3D Asset to a Million Controllable Edits

Large-scale controllable 3D assets are critical for computer graphics, embodied AI, robotics, and interactive content creation, yet creating diverse 3D assets remains challenging due to the high cost of manual modeling and rigging. Shape deformation offers a natural way to generate variations from existing meshes, but existing data-driven methods often rely on sparse user inputs, while parametric editing frameworks require manually designed control structures and category-specific configurations. Inspired by natural creatures, where a central spine governs global shape and cross-sectional ribs control local variation, we introduce Fishbone, a unified rib-spine representation for general shapes that supports controllable parametric mesh deformation, reduced-space dynamics, and animation. Given an input mesh, Fishbone computes a geodesic scalar field with an adaptive heat method, extracts iso-contours as cross-sectional ribs, constructs a smooth geometry-aware spine through rib centers, and associates surface vertices with nearby rib and spine structures using Gaussian-weighted skinning. The resulting representation enables real-time and predictable deformation: ribs control local profiles such as thickness, orientation, and cross-sectional variation, while the spine controls global bending, twisting, and stretching. The same structure also supports reduced-space simulation and keyframe animation. We further construct Fishbone-136K by augmenting Hunyuan3D with rib-spine structures, and demonstrate applications in controllable 3D generation, deformation-based data augmentation for robot learning, interactive mesh editing, and agentic generation. Experiments demonstrate the effectiveness, efficiency, and versatility of the proposed framework.

CompoSE: Compositional Synthesis and Editing of 3D Shapes via Part-Aware Control

Creating and editing high-quality 3D content remains a central challenge in computer graphics. We address this challenge by introducing CompoSE, a novel method for Compositional Synthesis and Editing of 3D shapes via part-aware control. Our method takes as input a set of coarse geometric primitives (e.g., bounding boxes) that represent distinct object parts arranged in a particular spatial configuration, and synthesizes as output part-separated 3D objects that support localized granular (i.e., compositional) editing of individual parts. The key insight that enables our method is our use of a diffusion transformer architecture that alternates between processing each part locally and aggregating contextual information across parts globally, and features a novel conditioning technique that ensures strong adherence to the user's input. Importantly, our method learns to infer part semantics and symmetries directly from the user's coarse layout guidance, and does not require part-level text prompts. We demonstrate that our method enables powerful part-level editing capabilities, including context-aware substitution, addition, deletion, and style-preserving resizing operations. We show through extensive experiments that our method significantly outperforms existing approaches on guided synthesis, as measured by objective metrics and LLM-based evaluations.

EVA01: Unified Native 3D Understanding and Generation via Mixture-of-Transformers

This paper addresses the challenge of integrating 3D meshes as a native modality within Multimodal Large Language Models (MLLMs). Diffusion-based large reconstruction models decouple semantic understanding from geometric reasoning, operating as stateless reconstructors conditioned on dense 2D pixel priors. Recent MLLM-based methods treat the 3D modality as an external output rather than a native component of the multimodal sequence, making incremental adaptations without a systematic analysis of how geometric manifolds align with MLLM feature spaces. We introduce EVA01, a unified framework that extends the modality boundary of MLLMs to natively incorporate 3D mesh understanding, generation, and context-aware editing. Built upon a Mixture-of-Transformers (MoT) architecture, EVA01 decouples the model into a pre-trained Understanding Expert (EundE_{\mathrm{und}}) and a structurally mirrored Generation Expert (EgenE_{\mathrm{gen}}), coupled through shared global self-attention with hard modality routing. This design aligns the semantic latent space of the MLLM backbone with the geometric manifold, enabling direct transfer of multimodal priors without intermediate 2D representations. Results show that EVA01 achieves state-of-the-art native text-to-3D generation fidelity and unlocks robust long-context multi-turn geometric editing with identity preservation, a capability fundamentally inaccessible to stateless reconstruction pipelines. Our findings further offer architectural insights for integrating 2D foundation models with 3D tasks, informing the design of 3D-native multimodal systems. VGGT-Edit: Feed-forward Native 3D Scene Editing with Residual Field Prediction

High-quality 3D scene reconstruction has recently advanced toward generalizable feed-forward architectures, enabling the generation of complex environments in a single forward pass. However, despite their strong performance in static scene perception, these models remain limited in responding to dynamic human instructions, which restricts their use in interactive applications. Existing editing methods typically rely on a 2D-lifting strategy, where individual views are edited independently and then lifted back into 3D space. This indirect pipeline often leads to blurry textures and inconsistent geometry, as 2D editors lack the spatial awareness required to preserve structure across viewpoints. To address these limitations, we propose VGGT-Edit, a feed-forward framework for text-conditioned native 3D scene editing. VGGT-Edit introduces depth-synchronized text injection to align semantic guidance with the backbone's spatial poses, ensuring stable instruction grounding. This semantic signal is then processed by a residual transformation head, which directly predicts 3D geometric displacements to deform the scene while preserving background stability. To ensure high-fidelity results, we supervise the framework with a multi-term objective function that enforces geometric accuracy and cross-view consistency. We also construct the DeltaScene Dataset, a large-scale dataset generated through an automated pipeline with 3D agreement filtering to ensure ground-truth quality. Experiments show that VGGT-Edit substantially outperforms 2D-lifting baselines, producing sharper object details, stronger multi-view consistency, and near-instant inference speed.
