Conventional Camera
Conventional cameras, aiming to capture and represent visual information, are undergoing significant research driven by limitations in speed, dynamic range, power consumption, and data processing. Current efforts focus on improving image quality through advanced lens modeling and algorithms that address defocus blur, as well as developing alternative architectures like event cameras that capture only changes in light intensity, leading to reduced data and power requirements. These advancements are impacting various fields, from robotics and manufacturing (e.g., enabling precise operations in challenging lighting conditions) to mobile computing (e.g., enabling always-on, low-power vision applications).
