UMAS3D: Unified Mask-Free 3D Editing with Region-Adaptive Source Preservation

3D editing aims to modify an existing 3D asset according to user intent while preserving geometry and appearance outside the intended edit region. Existing methods often rely on task-specific training, source-3D inversion, or external 3D masks, and lack a unified framework for diverse editing conditions and tasks. We propose UMAS3D, a unified 3D editing framework that is training-free, inversion-free, and free from external 3D masks. UMAS3D converts text, bounding boxes, reference images, and their combinations into common target-view guidance, after which addition, deletion, modification, appearance, and pose editing share the same downstream 3D generation process. Our key insight is to couple online edit-region estimation with region-aware source preservation. Mask-Free Adaptive Region Modeling (MARM) initializes an Edit/Keep prior from source-target visual differences and progressively refines it as the target structure evolves, while Source-Guided Preservation Steering (SGPS) constrains the current Keep-region states to retain source geometry and appearance without suppressing target-driven changes. Experiments show that UMAS3D supports addition, deletion, modification, appearance, and pose editing while effectively preserving unedited source content. These advances make UMAS3D a unified framework for flexible and source-preserving 3D editing across diverse editing conditions.

EditHero: A Benchmark for Long-Horizon Part-Level 3D Editing and Vibe Modeling

3D editing methods are usually tested on a single edit, yet an asset is built through a long sequence of revisions, each of which must implement the requested change while leaving everything else unchanged. We introduce EditHero, to our knowledge the first benchmark for long-horizon, part-level 3D editing, with natural-language instructions and target images for both geometry and texture. A deterministic assembly engine produces the exact target after every edit, and every sequence is reviewed by hand. We use EditHero to compare 2 opposite approaches to 3D editing. Non-agentic methods operate top down, regenerating the object from a learned 3D representation and inferring what to keep. In contrast, LLM/VLM agents operate bottom up, editing through code that inspects the mesh and rewrites only the parts required by instructions. The non-agentic methods often miss the requested change and disturb regions that should stay fixed. Most LLMs follow instructions more closely, and all of them preserve the unedited parts better, but each of their edits takes minutes. We will release the engine and the edit sequences to support research on reliable iterative 3D editing.

Scaling Versatile 3D Assets Editing with a Million-Scale Dataset

Although recent 3D generative models produce increasingly realistic assets, controllable 3D asset editing remains challenging. Existing methods are limited by scarce training data, insufficient source-aware modeling, and a lack of practical evaluation protocols. To address these limitations, we present Alchemy3D, a unified framework for training and evaluating versatile 3D asset editors that covers data construction, model architecture, and benchmark evaluation. Specifically, we curate Alchemy3D-1M, a large-scale 3D editing dataset containing 1.25M assets and 1.38M editing pairs across seven editing types. On this data, we train a family of generative flow models for general-purpose 3D asset editing. The model family supports image- and text-conditioned editing, few-step inference, and transfer to multi-view 3D part segmentation. We further introduce GEdit3D-Bench, a large-scale, open-world benchmark with a multi-dimensional evaluation protocol. Across existing and newly introduced benchmarks, our method outperforms prior methods on most metrics of editing fidelity, source preservation, and visual quality.

OrnaStyler: Ornament-Aware Latent Editing for Content-Preserving 3D Stylization

Text-guided style editing of 3D assets is essential for adapting existing objects to diverse visual aesthetics in digital content creation. Despite rapid progress in 3D shape modeling, faithfully stylizing an existing asset remains challenging when the desired stylization involves fine-grained structural ornamentation, which requires the model to preserve the source geometry and object identity, while coherently integrating new style-specific details. We propose OrnaStyler, a zero-shot framework for text-guided ornament-aware 3D stylization. Built upon rectified flow-based generative modeling, OrnaStyler introduces an inversion-guided editing strategy that recovers content-aware latent representations at both geometry and appearance levels in a staged manner to facilitate faithful editing. Our core idea is to explicitly model the spatial configuration of stylistic elements, thereby mitigating the fundamental tension between content preservation and style expression in the voxel space. Specifically, at the geometry level, we manipulate voxel representations through flow inversion to synthesize ornament-enhanced structures while preserving the spatial identity of the source asset. Then, at the appearance level, we introduce an adjacency-aware feature inpainting mechanism to harmonize newly generated ornaments with the original content, yielding coherent geometry-appearance integration. Our approach operates solely in the inference phase and enables selective editing over geometric augmentation or appearance stylization. Extensive experiments on both generated and real-world 3D assets against prior methods demonstrate that OrnaStyler achieves state-of-the-art editing performance in terms of content preservation, style fidelity, and overall visual realism. SemanticSlider3D: Training-Free Continuous Semantic Editing for 3D Objects

Fine-grained control over continuous semantic attributes of 3D objects is essential for 3D content creation, but is not well supported by conventional 3D modeling workflows or prompt-based interaction with existing generative AI tools. While slider-based methods have proven effective for fine-grained semantic control in 2D image generation, no equivalent approach exists for 3D. Extending these 2D methods to 3D is non-trivial due to challenges unique to 3D, including geometric integrity and cross-view coherence. We present SemanticSlider3D, a technique for continuous semantic attribute editing of 3D objects that requires no per-attribute training. Given a user-specified attribute, our pipeline constructs a semantic editing direction in the latent space of a state-of-the-art 3D generation model, presenting a diverse and coherent spectrum of 3D variations. A technical validation on a dataset of 50 3D object-attribute pairs shows our method was preferred by all five human assessors across variation range, consistency, 3D object quality, and attribute disentanglement, over a baseline combining a 2D slider with an image-to-3D model. An exploratory study with six participants demonstrates that SemanticSlider3D supported decision-making in 3D prototyping and was perceived as a valuable addition to existing workflows.

ES3D: Embedding Semantics into 3D Space for Component-Aware Editing

Existing 3D editing methods have made notable progress in controllability, yet they remain limited in several important ways. Most approaches rely on text-driven editing, which struggles to express fine-grained visual changes intended by the user. Moreover, many methods require manually supplied 3D masks or introduce unintended changes to regions that should remain untouched. These limitations largely arise from the absence of fine-grained semantic understanding, making it difficult for existing models to retrieve or modify specific 3D components. We introduce ES3D, a framework that embeds semantics directly into 3D space, enabling component-aware retrieval and editing of a 3D asset conditioned on multiple local reference images and optional text queries. We first construct a 3D semantic embedding by projecting multi-view semantic features into the voxelized space of the asset. We then perform 3D component retrieval by computing feature similarity between the 3D semantic embedding and the semantic embeddings of image or text queries. For editing, we employ a pretrained 3D generative model with an inpainting mechanism to modify the retrieved components guided by user-provided images while preserving the rest of the asset. Overall, ES3D is a 3D editing framework that retrieves editable regions based on semantic cues and uses multiple images as conditions. Extensive experiments demonstrate that ES3D produces geometrically consistent and semantically coherent edits, enabling robust image-based and text-assisted control for 3D editing.

EditFlow3D: Automated Local Editing of 3D Assets with Trajectory Preservation

Controllable local editing of 3D assets requires precise target localization and appropriate visual guidance. However, existing methods lack a simple yet accurate way to obtain 3D masks and struggle to achieve the desired edit while faithfully preserving the structure and appearance of non-target regions. To address these challenges, we present EditFlow3D, a training-free framework for local 3D editing. Given a source asset and an edit instruction, a VLM-driven workflow interprets the editing intent and automatically constructs a visual guidance image and a refined 3D editing mask, enabling localized editing in the native representation space of a pretrained 3D generative model. Specifically, mask-guided differential flow focuses the edit on the target region, while step-wise trajectory preservation maintains consistency between non-target regions and the source asset without directly replacing intermediate features. Since the existing Edit3D-Bench covers only a limited range of local editing categories, we further introduce EditFlow-Bench as a complementary benchmark encompassing a broader variety of structural and appearance edits, and evaluate EditFlow3D on both benchmarks. Quantitative results, qualitative comparisons, and a user study demonstrate that EditFlow3D achieves more accurate target-region editing and better preserves non-target regions than existing 3D editing methods.

Hunyuan3D-Buffalo 1.0: A Unified Multimodal Model for Scalable 3D Generation, Understanding, and Editing

Recent advances in image generation have demonstrated the potential of unified multimodal models that integrate understanding, generation, and editing. However, unified 3D modeling remains constrained by scarce multimodal data, particularly the lack of large-scale and geometrically consistent editing data. To address this limitation, we propose Hunyuan3D-Buffalo 1.0, a unified framework supporting 3D understanding, text-to-3D generation, instruction-guided 3D editing, and text-grounded part generation within a single architecture. To enable scalable training, we construct an 87M-scale 3D multimodal corpus, comprising 25M understanding samples, 50M text-to-3D pairs, and 12M editing pairs generated using Nano3D-v2. Architecturally, the framework combines Hunyuan3D-VLM for semantic, structural, and spatial understanding with Hunyuan3D DiT for high-fidelity 3D synthesis. The VLM provides multimodal semantic conditions for generation, while editing and part generation additionally condition the diffusion process on the source object representation to preserve its overall structure and unedited regions. Extensive experiments show that Hunyuan3D-Buffalo 1.0 achieves state-of-the-art or leading performance on text-to-3D generation and 3D editing benchmarks, while exhibiting strong understanding and part-generation capabilities. Our analysis further shows that both generation and understanding improve editing, demonstrating the effectiveness of unified 3D multimodal training. EditVerse3D: High-Quality 3D Object Editing with Region-Aware Learning

Local editing of 3D objects remains a long-standing challenge. When interacting with 3D content, humans naturally tend to specify a coarse region of interest for modification rather than defining precise editing boundaries. However, previous methods rely on fully edited 2D images, precise 3D masks, or redundant pipelines, which present a gap. To bridge this gap, we propose EditVerse3D, a novel 3D editing framework that enables high-quality object editing under such coarse guidance. Our approach takes as input a 3D object to be edited, a coarse 3D bounding box indicating the target region, and a reference 2D image describing the desired modification. It produces a coherent, high-fidelity edited 3D object. To facilitate this editing, we introduce a novel region-aware adaptive loss that emphasizes hard-to-learn regions and balances the objective between target and preserved areas. Complementing our loss function, we enhance model robustness and generalization through targeted data augmentations, such as training with scaled 3D masks and filtering out unrealistic editing pairs. We construct a large-scale 3D editing dataset derived from parts information. Extensive experiments demonstrate that EditVerse3D achieves superior visual quality and quantitative performance compared to existing 3D editing approaches. Feedforward 3D Editing Learns from Semantic-Part Transformation

3D editing is a fundamental capability for scalable 3D content creation. While image editing has rapidly evolved toward large-scale feedforward generative paradigms, 3D AI generation remains dominated by training-free editing pipelines. A central challenge of feedforward 3D editing lies in the lack of high-quality paired supervision. Editable 3D assets require simultaneous preservation of geometry, multi-view consistency, structural coherence, and localized edit controllability. Existing 3D editing datasets often rely on independently generated assets, image-mediated reconstruction or narrow edit taxonomies, leading to inaccurate localization, weak preservation, blurred edit boundaries, and limited semantic consistency. In this work, we introduce a new perspective: scalable feedforward 3D editing should be learned from semantic-part transformations. Based on this insight, we propose Pxform, a high-quality 3D editing dataset with over 100K consistent before/after editing pairs across seven edit types. Instead of treating objects as unstructured shapes, our pipeline grounds edits directly in semantic 3D parts. Built upon Pxform, we further propose PartFlow, a feedforward 3D editing network that injects source-aware latent control into pretrained 3D generative priors. PartFlow introduces mask-aware velocity preservation and render-space consistency supervision to jointly improve edit fidelity and source preservation, while requiring no 3D edit mask during inference. Extensive experiments demonstrate that high-quality semantic-part supervision substantially improves scalable 3D editing, enabling PartFlow to achieve state-of-the-art performance on both geometric and appearance editing benchmarks.

Velocity-Space 3D Asset Editing

Editing a 3D asset locally, modifying a target region while preserving the rest, is a fundamental requirement of native 3D editing. Existing methods enforce locality through mechanisms external to the generator, such as manual 3D masks, post-hoc voxel merging, or 2D multi-view lifting. None of them intervene where the corruption actually originates: inside the ODE sampler. For a rectified-flow generator to achieve faithful local editing, its velocity field should be strong over the target editing region while vanishing on preserved content. Yet a single velocity field can hardly satisfy both requirements simultaneously, leading to three problems: (i) identity leakage that keeps the edit signal non-zero on preserved regions; (ii) no dedicated edit-amplification channel, so strengthening the edit inevitably perturbs identity; and (iii) an identity drag at the geometry and material stages, where a global condition pulls every token toward the target. We propose VS3D (Velocity-Space 3D Asset editing}), an inversion-free, training-free, and mask-free framework that addresses each problem with a targeted intervention inside the sampler. VS3D integrates three complementary modules, each corresponding to a specific stage of the editing pipeline. Reconstruction-Anchored Source Injection (RASI) absorbs identity leakage by turning the unconditional embedding into a per-step, asset-specific anchor calibrated through source reconstruction. Partial-Mean Guidance (PMG) amplifies the edit signal by contrasting high- and low-quality subsample estimates of the velocity difference, active only where a consistent edit exists. Twin-Agreement Residual injection (TAR) lets the sampler decide token by token what to preserve at the geometry and material stages.

neuralCAD-Edit: An Expert Benchmark for Multimodal-Instructed 3D CAD Model Editing

We introduce neuralCAD-Edit, the first benchmark for editing 3D CAD models collected from expert CAD engineers. Instead of text conditioning as in prior works, we collect realistic CAD editing requests by capturing videos of professional designers, interacting directly with CAD models in CAD software, while talking, pointing and drawing. We recruited ten consenting designers to contribute to this contained study. We benchmark leading foundation models against human CAD experts carrying out edits, and find a large performance gap in both automatic metrics and human evaluations. Even the best foundation model (GPT 5.2) scores 53% lower (absolute) than CAD experts in human acceptance trials, demonstrating the challenge of neuralCAD-Edit. We hope neuralCAD-Edit will provide a solid foundation against which 3D CAD editing approaches and foundation models can be developed. Code/data: https://autodeskailab.github.io/neuralCAD-Edit

Beyond Voxel 3D Editing: Learning from 3D Masks and Self-Constructed Data

3D editing refers to the ability to apply local or global modifications to 3D assets. Effective 3D editing requires maintaining semantic consistency by performing localized changes according to prompts, while also preserving local invariance so that unchanged regions remain consistent with the original. However, existing approaches have significant limitations: multi-view editing methods incur losses when projecting back to 3D, while voxel-based editing is constrained in both the regions that can be modified and the scale of modifications. Moreover, the lack of sufficiently large editing datasets for training and evaluation remains a challenge. To address these challenges, we propose a Beyond Voxel 3D Editing (BVE) framework with a self-constructed large-scale dataset specifically tailored for 3D editing. Building upon this dataset, our model enhances a foundational image-to-3D generative architecture with lightweight, trainable modules, enabling efficient injection of textual semantics without the need for expensive full-model retraining. Furthermore, we introduce an annotation-free 3D masking strategy to preserve local invariance, maintaining the integrity of unchanged regions during editing. Extensive experiments demonstrate that BVE achieves superior performance in generating high-quality, text-aligned 3D assets, while faithfully retaining the visual characteristics of the original input.

SK-Adapter: Skeleton-Based Structural Control for Native 3D Generation

Native 3D generative models have achieved remarkable fidelity and speed, yet they suffer from a critical limitation: inability to prescribe precise structural articulations, where precise structural control within the native 3D space remains underexplored. This paper proposes SK-Adapter, a simple yet efficient and effective framework that unlocks precise skeletal manipulation for native 3D generation. Moving beyond text or image prompts, which can be ambiguous for precise structure, we treat the 3D skeleton as a first-class control signal. SK-Adapter is a lightweight structural adapter network that encodes joint coordinates and topology into learnable tokens, which are injected into the frozen 3D generation backbone via cross-attention. This design allows the model to not only effectively ``attend'' to specific 3D structural constraints but also preserve its original generative priors. To bridge the data gap, we contribute the Objaverse-TMS dataset, a large-scale dataset of 24k text-mesh-skeleton pairs. Extensive experiments confirm that our method achieves robust structural control while preserving the geometry and texture quality of the foundation model, significantly outperforming existing baselines. Furthermore, we extend this capability to local 3D editing, enabling region-specific editing of existing assets with skeletal guidance, which is unattainable by previous methods. Easy3E: Feed-Forward 3D Asset Editing via Rectified Voxel Flow

Existing 3D editing methods rely on computationally intensive scene-by-scene iterative optimization and suffer from multi-view inconsistency. We propose an effective and feed-forward 3D editing framework based on the TRELLIS generative backbone, capable of modifying 3D models from a single editing view. Our framework addresses two key issues: adapting training-free 2D editing to structured 3D representations, and overcoming the bottleneck of appearance fidelity in compressed 3D features. To ensure geometric consistency, we introduce Voxel FlowEdit, an edit-driven flow in the sparse voxel latent space that achieves globally consistent 3D deformation in a single pass. To restore high-fidelity details, we develop a normal-guided single to multi-view generation module as an external appearance prior, successfully recovering high-frequency textures. Experiments demonstrate that our method enables fast, globally consistent, and high-fidelity 3D model editing.

Vinedresser3D: Agentic Text-guided 3D Editing

Text-guided 3D editing aims to modify existing 3D assets using natural-language instructions. Current methods struggle to jointly understand complex prompts, automatically localize edits in 3D, and preserve unedited content. We introduce Vinedresser3D, an agentic framework for high-quality text-guided 3D editing that operates directly in the latent space of a native 3D generative model. Given a 3D asset and an editing prompt, Vinedresser3D uses a multimodal large language model to infer rich descriptions of the original asset, identify the edit region and edit type (addition, modification, deletion), and generate decomposed structural and appearance-level text guidance. The agent then selects an informative view and applies an image editing model to obtain visual guidance. Finally, an inversion-based rectified-flow inpainting pipeline with an interleaved sampling module performs editing in the 3D latent space, enforcing prompt alignment while maintaining 3D coherence and unedited regions. Experiments on diverse 3D edits demonstrate that Vinedresser3D outperforms prior baselines in both automatic metrics and human preference studies, while enabling precise, coherent, and mask-free 3D editing.

PartRAG: Retrieval-Augmented Part-Level 3D Generation and Editing

Single-image 3D generation with part-level structure remains challenging: learned priors struggle to cover the long tail of part geometries and maintain multi-view consistency, and existing systems provide limited support for precise, localized edits. We present PartRAG, a retrieval-augmented framework that integrates an external part database with a diffusion transformer to couple generation with an editable representation. To overcome the first challenge, we introduce a Hierarchical Contrastive Retrieval module that aligns dense image patches with 3D part latents at both part and object granularity, retrieving from a curated bank of 1,236 part-annotated assets to inject diverse, physically plausible exemplars into denoising. To overcome the second challenge, we add a masked, part-level editor that operates in a shared canonical space, enabling swaps, attribute refinements, and compositional updates without regenerating the whole object while preserving non-target parts and multi-view consistency. PartRAG achieves competitive results on Objaverse, ShapeNet, and ABO-reducing Chamfer Distance from 0.1726 to 0.1528 and raising F-Score from 0.7472 to 0.844 on Objaverse-with inference of 38s and interactive edits in 5-8s. Qualitatively, PartRAG produces sharper part boundaries, better thin-structure fidelity, and robust behavior on articulated objects. Code: https://github.com/AIGeeksGroup/PartRAG. SplatPainter: Interactive Authoring of 3D Gaussians from 2D Edits via Test-Time Training

The rise of 3D Gaussian Splatting has revolutionized photorealistic 3D asset creation, yet a critical gap remains for their interactive refinement and editing. Existing approaches based on diffusion or optimization are ill-suited for this task, as they are often prohibitively slow, destructive to the original asset's identity, or lack the precision for fine-grained control. To address this, we introduce SplatPainter, a state-aware feedforward model that enables continuous editing of 3D Gaussian assets from user-provided 2D view(s). Our method directly predicts updates to the attributes of a compact, feature-rich Gaussian representation and leverages Test-Time Training to create a state-aware, iterative workflow. The versatility of our approach allows a single architecture to perform diverse tasks, including high-fidelity local detail refinement, local paint-over, and consistent global recoloring, all at interactive speeds, paving the way for fluid and intuitive 3D content authoring.
