SeqAlign3DVG: A Sequence-Aligned Benchmark and Voxel Reasoning Framework for 3D Visual Grounding

Image-based 3D visual grounding is critical for embodied agents, yet existing benchmarks suffer from loose text-observation alignment and neglect temporal ordering. We introduce SeqAlign3DVG, a novel benchmark dedicated to temporally ordered and strictly observation-aligned image-based 3D visual grounding. Unlike prior works using order-agnostic views or global point clouds, SeqAlign3DVG ensures all expressions are human-verified and strictly grounded in the provided RGB observations (single frames or ordered observation sequences). It comprises 9,622 single-view and 14,493 sequence samples featuring rich descriptions, complex relations, and multi-instance ambiguities. To tackle this benchmark, we propose a unified voxel-based pipeline featuring Relevance-Ordered Voxel Memory (ROVM) and Progressive Language-Voxel Fusion (PLVF). ROVM dynamically ranks and aggregates multi-view evidence via a conservative memory to mitigate noisy observations, while PLVF performs coarse-to-fine spatial-linguistic reasoning for precise disambiguation. Our approach achieves state-of-the-art performance under the depth-free protocol, significantly improving localization for targets defined by complex relations and appearance cues.

CapFrame: Text-Instructed Viewpoint Grounding in 3D Gaussian Scenes via Geometric Pseudo Labels

3D Gaussian Splatting (3DGS) enables photorealistic real-time novel view synthesis, yet placing a virtual camera to capture a desired frame remains largely manual. Existing language-guided approaches in 3D scenes mainly focus on object-centric grounding, determining what to observe but rarely controlling how it should appear in a single frame, such as subject orientation or frame layout. To address this limitation, we introduce a new task, Text-Instructed Viewpoint Grounding (TIVG), which aims to identify a 6-DoF camera pose in a 3D Gaussian scene whose rendered frame aligns with a text instruction. To solve this task, we propose CapFrame, a partially differentiable framework that converts language into geometric pseudo labels for camera pose optimization. CapFrame follows a Retrieve-Translate-Refine pipeline: it retrieves relevant views and ranks them through a Question-Evaluation process with MLLMs, translates the instruction into orientation and layout pseudo labels, and refines the camera pose via differentiable optimization with layout and orientation losses in 3DGS. Experiments on 38 real-world scenes with 135 instructions indicate that CapFrame produces viewpoints better aligned with texts than heuristic viewpoint search and adapted trajectory generation baselines, validated by VLM metrics, MLLM judges, and user studies. Code is available at: https://github.com/jirongli/CapFrame

AffordAny: Open-World 3D Affordance Grounding from Monocular RGB Images via Vision-Language-Guided Geometric Reasoning

Open-world 3D affordance grounding requires localizing functional object parts in 3D given free-form language queries. Existing methods typically assume pre-built object-centric 3D geometry and closed affordance ontologies, limiting deployment from raw RGB observations. We present AffordAny, an end-to-end framework that uses one monocular RGB image to construct large-scale text-conditioned 3D part supervision, ground affordances with a frozen vision-language model (VLM) guided decoder, and improve open-world generalization through pseudo-label self-training. Our automated pipeline produces a benchmark of 5,334 objects and 10,633 part-level samples spanning 473 categories, an order-of-magnitude increase in categorical diversity over prior work. The decoder progressively fuses frozen Cosmos-2B features with 3D geometry through spatial projection, instruction-conditioned semantic compression, and bidirectional geometry-semantics interaction. Minimal-perturbation pseudo-label self-training further adds new objects without human annotation. Under a systematic generalization protocol evaluating unseen objects, unseen categories, and unseen instruction paraphrases, our approach achieves 0.428 IoU on unseen objects and 0.315 IoU on unseen categories after self-training, with unseen-category mIoU improving by 6.3% relative (p<0.01) and an instruction sensitivity gap of only 0.105, demonstrating effectiveness and robustness of our method.

GroupForward: Building Referable 3D Scenes via Instance-Grouped Feed-Forward Gaussian Splatting

Simultaneously reconstructing and understanding 3D environments is essential for embodied agents. Toward this goal, feed-forward semantic 3D Gaussian Splatting (3DGS) efficiently constructs semantic scene representations from sparse multi-view observations. However, existing methods lack explicit instance discrimination and mainly support category- or phrase-based semantic queries. To this end, we propose GroupForward, an instance-grouped feed-forward Gaussian splatting model that reconstructs geometry, appearance, instance structure, and semantics from sparse, unposed, and uncalibrated multi-view images. Unlike existing methods that attach high-dimensional semantic features to each Gaussian, GroupForward learns compact instance embeddings that group Gaussians into cross-view consistent 3D instances, reformulating feed-forward semantic 3DGS from per-Gaussian semantic feature rendering to instance-level semantic aggregation and propagation. Building on these instance groups, we further propose a Referential Scene Reasoning Framework (RSRF) for complex 3D referring segmentation. RSRF constructs an instance-grouped 3D scene graph and retrieves candidate instances for a given referring expression. A vision-language model then reasons over structured instance evidence and multi-view observations to identify the referred instance among the candidates. RSRF thereby extends language interaction from simple semantic querying to complex referential scene reasoning. Experiments on semantic reconstruction and referential reasoning demonstrate the effectiveness of our instance-grouped reconstruction and reasoning framework.

GaussianDWM++: Language-Grounded 3D Gaussian Driving World Model for Unified Scene Understanding, Editing, and Multi-Modal Generation

Driving World Models (DWMs) have recently advanced rapidly with generative models, yet most existing methods mainly focus on conditional scene generation and lack explicit 3D scene understanding, language-grounded reasoning, and controllable 4D editing capabilities. Moreover, commonly used point cloud, occupancy, or BEV representations make it difficult to achieve fine-grained alignment between textual information and the underlying 3D scene structure. To address these limitations, we propose a foundation-feature Gaussian driving world model that unifies scene understanding, language-grounded reasoning, controllable 4D editing, and multi-modal generation within a single framework. Specifically, we introduce a foundation-feature Gaussian tokenizer that directly distills Qwen/SigLIP visual-language features into 3D Gaussian primitives, building a compact open-vocabulary Gaussian semantic field. We further design a geometry-aware Gaussian adapter that combines importance-aware hierarchical selection with text-conditioned Perceiver-style cross-attention to aggregate dense Gaussian primitives into compact world tokens. To improve representation compatibility, we introduce a KL-based Gaussian--image distribution alignment objective that aligns Gaussian world tokens with foundation image tokens. Based on the aligned Gaussian representation, our framework further supports instruction-controllable scene editing, including weather-conditioned generation and dynamic vehicle manipulation. Extensive experiments on broader driving benchmarks demonstrate that our method achieves state-of-the-art performance across scene understanding, visual grounding, planning-oriented reasoning, and controllable 4D generation tasks. We will release the code and datasets publicly on Github.

ReRef-3D: A Benchmark for Spatial Referring Expression-Guided 3D Scene Rearrangement

We introduce ReRef-3D, a benchmark for language-guided placement in 3D scenes. It contains 33,826 instructions across 998 CLEVR-derived scenes, spanning 16 placement families and direct, one-hop, and two-hop references. Each instruction must be resolved into a valid new placement position. Given that an instruction defines a region of acceptable placements rather than one coordinate, our evaluation inserts a prediction into the scene, recomputes relations, and tests relation satisfaction and physical validity. Each instruction also includes a verified naturalized rewrite. After fine-tuning, LLaVA-3D, 3D-LLM, and PlaceIt3D produce valid placements for 68.3%, 31.6%, and 22.4% of instructions, respectively. Across models, relation satisfaction surpasses physical validity, relations such as nearest and between are the most difficult, and phrasing has minimal effect on performance.

ArtLang: Structured Language-to-Kinematics Grounding for Articulated 3D Actuation

Articulated-object reconstructions recover explicit geometry and kinematics, but their parts often remain semantically anonymous and must be controlled through part indices and numerical joint parameters. We present ArtLang, a framework for open-vocabulary language control of persistent reconstructed articulated assets. ArtLang represents an asset as a semantic-kinematic articulation graph and augments its surface with language features and graph-constrained motion. Open-vocabulary proposals are bound to reconstructed parts while allowing uncertain parts to remain unnamed. A typed parser converts a command into a directive graph containing referring expressions, actions, magnitudes, reference frames, and relations. We then solve a global graph-to-graph grounding problem that jointly reasons about semantic, spatial, relational, and kinematic compatibility, with support for null assignments and abstention under ambiguity. Accepted directives are converted into continuous joint targets within the observed motion range and executed through forward kinematics. Experiments on synthetic reconstructions, mesh-based assets, and real captures demonstrate reliable language grounding and continuous articulated control across repeated parts, spatial references, relational commands, and ambiguous instructions.

ThinkAfford: Affordance-Centric Reasoning for Fine-Grained 3D Grounding in Cluttered Scenes

Task-driven 3D affordance grounding aims to localize the functional region in a cluttered 3D scene that enables an action specified by a natural-language instruction. Existing methods either predict 3D masks directly or construct them by selecting and fusing intermediate 2D/3D regions. However, they remain vulnerable to two intertwined failure modes: the predicted or selected regions may miss the target interaction area or have unsuitable granularity, while language grounding may confuse visually similar alternatives under relational instructions. To this end, we introduce ThinkAfford, which decouples high-recall affordance proposal generation from instruction-grounded reasoning. Specifically, the Affordance Proposal Generation module first uses learnable affordance prompts and multi-level visual features to predict interaction-conditioned heatmaps, extracting a variable number of fine-grained proposals without parsed object or part names as segmentation prompts. Visual-Prompted Affordance Reasoning then reasons over labeled proposal overlays using the full instruction, returning identifiers in a structured "think-then-answer" response. Moreover, Group Relative Policy Optimization uses proposal-level rewards from lifted 3D overlap to align VPAR selection with final 3D grounding. On the SceneFun3D validation split, ThinkAfford achieves 10.69% AP50 and 25.46% AP25 under the official evaluator, outperforming comparable 3D open-vocabulary and vision-language-model-based 2D-to-3D baselines. Module-level diagnostics further show that APG attains 77.5% recall at 25% intersection-over-union, while GRPO-trained VPAR achieves 72.1% selection accuracy on APG-covered queries, compared with 63.4% under supervised fine-tuning.

Embodied Multimodal Grounding for Open-Vocabulary Mobile Manipulation via Semantic 3D Gaussian Splatting

Embodied mobile manipulation requires language, visual observations, three-dimensional scene structure, and action feasibility to be aligned before execution. We study open-vocabulary target grounding with few-shot manipulation in local household workspaces and present an embodied multimodal grounding framework that integrates active multi-view Semantic 3D Gaussian Splatting (Semantic-3DGS), reachability-aware base positioning, and a diffusion-based vision-language-action policy. A task-driven local Semantic-3DGS serves as a shared interface across active sensing, language-conditioned 3D localization, obstacle-aware scene reasoning, base preparation, and semantic conditioning of the action model. To preserve pretrained action priors, the 3D semantic cues are injected only into the late action-expert blocks. In expanded 50-trial real-robot evaluations against representative vision-language-action (VLA) approaches, the full system achieves 60% long-horizon success compared with 40% for PointVLA and 28% for DexVLA, and reaches 74% success in heavily cluttered manipulation compared with 52% for the single-view variant and 46% for PointVLA. It also maintains 75% success under a 75 cm height shift and eliminates photo-induced false grasps. These results indicate that explicit, refreshable 3D semantic grounding can improve robustness under clutter, occlusion, viewpoint variation, and embodiment constraints.

EgoHieraLoc: A Cortically Inspired Hierarchical Segmentation-Guided Framework for Egocentric Visual Query Localization

Visual query localization (VQL) aims to retrieve and re-localize a queried object in egocentric videos, yet remains challenging when object boundaries are ambiguous and global context cannot effectively guide fine-grained localization. Human vision handles such ambiguity through a hierarchical process: it rapidly screens foreground candidates, selectively attends to the target despite distractors, refines perception via feedback between global context and local detail, and, when a single view is unreliable, integrates evidence across viewpoints according to its credibility. Inspired by these competencies, we propose \textbf{EgoHieraLoc}, a unified framework for VQL-2D and VQL-3D. A Discriminative Parsing Module first extracts foreground-aware query representations using segmentation priors; a Query-Aware Module then performs robust target localization through discriminative correlation filtering with deformable modeling; and a Regional Adaptation Module feeds multi-scale context back into local regions to recover precise object boundaries. To extend this perceptual hierarchy to 3D localization, we introduce Geometric-Semantic Joint Confidence (GSJC), which multiplicatively couples segmentation confidence with local depth consistency, multi-view back-projection consistency, and triangulation-baseline quality, so that a viewpoint contributes to the 3D estimate only when it is credible both semantically and geometrically. Extensive experiments demonstrate state-of-the-art performance on both VQL-2D and -3D benchmarks.

CoordRefer: Coordinate-Aware 3D Visual Grounding from Multiview Images

Multiview image-based 3D visual grounding predicts a coordinate frame to define a coordinate system and then regresses a 3D bounding box for localization. However, existing methods jointly optimize coordinate frame selection and box regression, leading to coordinate-relative box ambiguity and degraded grounding performance. This ambiguity arises because the same box admits different numerical representations across coordinate frames, creating multiple optimization targets and yielding invalid compromise predictions. To tackle this challenge, we propose CoordRefer, a coordinate-aware framework that decouples coordinate frame selection from coordinate-conditioned grounding. CoordRefer first selects a reference frame to define the coordinate system and then conditions 3D box prediction on the coordinate system. We perform coordinate-aware supervised fine-tuning to establish coordinate frame selection and coordinate-conditioned box regression, followed by Group Relative Policy Optimization with 3D IoU-based rewards to align both stages with downstream grounding quality. On ScanRefer with Qwen3-VL-2B, CoordRefer achieves gains of 11% in [email protected] and 7% in [email protected] over the coordinate-agnostic baseline, while its geometrically refined variant surpasses methods using explicit 3D inputs.

Mind-VLA: Instruction-Aware Spatial Representation Alignment for Vision-Language-Action Models

Recent Vision-Language-Action (VLA) methods improve generalization by aligning their representations with 3D scene geometry. However, these methods are fundamentally instruction-agnostic: the representations align the entire scene uniformly, neglecting the 3D geometry of the specific target object designated by the language instruction. This causes failures on fine-grained manipulation and target occlusion tasks, where success depends on accurate 3D understanding of the target object rather than the entire scene. To address this, we present Mind-VLA, an instruction-aware spatial representation alignment method for VLA models. Specifically, Mind-VLA first obtains the target object specified by the language instruction, then prepares its target-object tri-view and extracts the corresponding VAE and VGGT features. Finally, the latent representation of the VLA model is aligned with these features to enable instruction-aware 3D understanding. Mind-VLA reaches 93.9% on LIBERO and 4.47 on CALVIN with a compact 345M-parameter backbone. On real-robot tasks with target occlusion, Mind-VLA reaches 54% average success, outperforming the best-performing instruction-agnostic method in real-robot comparison by 32 percentage points. Code will be publicly available.

Talk2Sensors: 3D Visual Grounding in Autonomous Driving via Sensor-Adaptive Physical Cue Matching

As a key capability for embodied intelligence, 3D visual grounding (3DVG) has been predominantly studied in indoor scenes with RGB-D or point-cloud inputs, while existing outdoor extensions largely rely on monocular images alone. Both settings fall short of real-world outdoor perception, where heterogeneous sensors capture complementary yet distinct physical properties, such as visual texture, 3D geometry, and object kinematics, that are indispensable for flexible and robust query-adaptive grounding but remain under-exploited. To bridge this gap, we introduce Talk2Sensors, the first multi-sensor 3D visual grounding dataset built upon camera, LiDAR, and 4D radar. It contains 8,682 language instructions and 20,558 referred objects, with diverse prompts explicitly aligned with sensor-specific physical cues. Furthermore, we propose TSFormer, a unified Transformer-based framework for language-guided 3D visual grounding in autonomous driving. TSFormer adopts a coarse-to-fine property-aware fusion strategy: the Language-Routed Property Sampler first performs coarse text-conditioned feature retrieval by modulating sensor sampling weights with query-level linguistic cues, while the subsequent Sparse-Preserving Modality Arbiter module conducts fine-grained modality arbitration and text-guided refinement to determine the precise referred spatial location. This design enables dynamic routing of appearance, geometry, and motion cues according to the semantic requirements of each prompt, preventing dense modalities from overwhelming sparse but critical sensor signals. Extensive experiments demonstrate that TSFormer achieves state-of-the-art performance across multiple benchmarks: it improves over the strongest baseline by 8.05 mAP on Talk2Sensors, and transfers to the monocular Mono3DRefer benchmark with 53.05% [email protected].

TDVR: Joint Text Disambiguation and Viewpoint Reasoning for Zero-Shot 3D Visual Grounding

Zero-shot 3D visual grounding aims to localize specific objects based on textual descriptions and 3D visual input. However, the effectiveness of existing methods is significantly hindered by the ambiguous query text and deficient viewpoints. To address these issues, we propose TDVR, a training-free reasoning framework that disambiguates the input text and infers accurate viewpoints for zero-shot 3D visual grounding. First, we construct semantic 3D scene graph from the detected instances in the 3D point cloud. Subsequently, we put the original query, appearance and spatial relationship descriptions into the LLM for fusion, thereby disambiguating the initial input. We leverage chain-of-thought reasoning to generate the structured representation of disambiguated query. Then taking the scene graph and structured query as input, we get the optimal view via viewpoint reasoning to solve the problem of missing viewpoints during grounding. Based on the obtained optimal viewpoint, we further discriminate the distracting objects, enabling the model with the ability to distinguish similar instances. After that, we match the category text and appearance images with the query by computing the similarity of feature vectors. Finally, the target object was identified by integrating the viewpoint score, confusion score, category score, and appearance score. Compared with previous methods, our TDVR has stronger capabilities in viewpoint reasoning, similar object discrimination, and ambiguous query understanding. Experimental results on the public ScanRefer dataset show that our method outperforms the existing state-of-the-art methods by 15.25% and 14.46% in [email protected] and [email protected] respectively, demonstrating the effectiveness of our TDVR in addressing ambiguous query text and deficient viewpoints.

Qwen-3D: A Generalist 3D Vision-Language Model for Spatial Understanding

Large Multimodal Models (LMMs) have achieved remarkable success on images and short videos, yet scaling them to long videos remains challenging due to frame-centric tokenization and limited context windows. 3D geometry provides a natural compression mechanism for visual streams: depth and camera pose enable observations from multiple views and time steps to be fused into a persistent, world-aligned representation. While recent 3D LMMs leverage geometry-aware representations to improve spatial reasoning, they continue to lag behind specialist 3D perception systems on grounding and segmentation tasks. We argue that a key limitation is geometry-aware decoding: existing methods communicate 3D predictions through language tokens, proposal selection, or lightweight grounding queries, creating a bottleneck between language reasoning and dense geometric prediction. Building on these insights, we introduce Qwen-3D, a geometry-aware LMM that compresses visual information within the Qwen backbone using multi-view geometric cues, enabling efficient long-horizon visual reasoning over static scenes. Qwen-3D augments visual tokens with 3D Rotary Positional Embeddings, allowing attention to operate directly in 3D scene space rather than across independent image frames and thereby facilitating scalable cross-view and temporal reasoning. To bridge language and geometry, Qwen-3D incorporates a query-based segmentation decoder that grounds language directly in the underlying 3D scene representation, unifying referential grounding, instance segmentation, and visual question answering across both images and videos. Across a diverse set of benchmarks, Qwen-3D surpasses existing 3D LMMs and outperforms several large proprietary 2D models. Notably, Qwen-3D achieves these improvements while maintaining strong performance on standard 2D vision-language benchmarks by jointly training on 2D and 3D data.

GuideGround: VLM-guided Semantic Understanding and Viewpoint-aware Reasoning for 3D Visual Grounding

3D visual grounding aims to localize the target object in a 3D scene from a natural language query, requiring both fine-grained semantic understanding and viewpoint-dependent spatial reasoning. Existing methods typically formulate semantic understanding as an auxiliary closed-set object classification task and rely on multi-view feature aggregation for viewpoint reasoning, limiting semantic generalization and weakening viewpoint-specific evidence. We observe that vision-language models naturally provide complementary capabilities through open-vocabulary semantic understanding and global scene perception. Based on this insight, we propose GuideGround, a VLM-guided framework that complements rather than replaces task-specific grounding models by leveraging VLMs for semantic enhancement and viewpoint-specific hypothesis verification. Specifically, we replace auxiliary closed-set object classification with VLM-generated object semantic descriptions to enhance semantic understanding. Meanwhile, instead of directly aggregating multi-view representations, we preserve viewpoint-specific grounding hypotheses through per-view grounding and explicitly verify them using VLMs across candidate viewpoints. Extensive experiments on the ReferIt3D benchmark demonstrate that GuideGround consistently outperforms previous state-of-the-art methods. Comprehensive ablation studies further confirm the effectiveness of both the proposed semantic understanding and viewpoint reasoning strategies.

ViewMind3D: Modular View-Aware Inference for Training-Free 3D-QA

Recent advances in large language models (LLMs) and vision-language models (VLMs) have enabled new possibilities for 3D question answering (3D-QA), a key capability for embodied AI and robotic perception. However, most existing methods rely on 3D-specific training or fine-tuning with costly annotations, limiting their scalability and real-world applicability. We present \textbf{ViewMind3D}, a fully training-free and modular framework for 3D spatial reasoning over multi-view observations of a scene without requiring complete 3D reconstruction. The framework decomposes the 3D-QA task into four interpretable components: (1) question-driven multi-view selection, (2) guided visual grounding with language-conditioned object cues, (3) spatial context encoding via a bird's-eye-view (BEV) viewpoint indicator, and (4) structured answer generation through role-based reasoning. This design enables structured, robust, and interpretable reasoning without requiring model tuning. Experimental results on ScanQA and SQA3D show that ViewMind3D achieves competitive performance compared to prior training-free and fine-tuned 3D-LLMs. In particular, our method improves performance on spatially grounded question types, such as ``What'' questions in SQA3D, while maintaining strong overall accuracy (50.8%) and achieving 73.4 CIDEr on ScanQA. These results demonstrate that effective 3D reasoning can be achieved through modular orchestration of general-purpose LLMs and VLMs for robotic perception in real-world environments.

3D-Aware VLMs with Implicit and Explicit Geometries

Despite rapid progress, most existing vision-language models (VLMs) built from 2D visual inputs often struggle when handling various 3D tasks that require fine-grained spatial understanding and reasoning. To bridge this gap, we present VLM-IE3D, a unified framework that enhances the 3D spatial awareness of VLMs by equipping them with both implicit and explicit 3D geometries learned from RGB videos. Our VLM-IE3D introduces Implicit Geometry Tokens (IGTs) that capture high-level geometric priors from input videos, as well as complementary Explicit Geometry Tokens (EGTs) that encode detailed geometric structures from reconstructed 3D attributes. On top of that, VLM-IE3D comes with a 3D-aware adapter that effectively fuses the two types of geometric representations with 2D visual cues. This RGB-only design injects strong 3D inductive biases for fine-grained spatial understanding and reasoning without requiring any additional 3D inputs. Extensive experiments show that VLM-IE3D achieves superior performance consistently across various 3D tasks including 3D video detection, 3D visual grounding, 3D dense captioning, and spatial reasoning. Code and models are available at https://github.com/Vegetebird/VLM-IE3D.

RynnBrain 1.1: Towards More Capable and Generalizable Embodied Foundation Model

We present RynnBrain 1.1, a family of embodied foundation models spanning 2B, 9B, and 122B-A10B scales. Trained with a unified spatio-temporal and physically grounded framework, RynnBrain 1.1 supports embodied perception, spatial reasoning, localization, and planning. Compared with RynnBrain 1.0, it further introduces contact-point prediction across the model family and native 3D grounding for the 2B and 9B models, yielding representations and outputs that are more directly aligned with robot manipulation. We also develop RynnBrain-VLA with a unified cross-embodiment action space and embodiment-specific masking, and deploy it on Unitree G1, Astribot-S1, and Tianji-Wuji. RynnBrain 1.1 achieves strong results on embodied cognition, localization, and 3D grounding, with the 122B-A10B model outperforming all evaluated proprietary and open-source models on VSI-Bench, MMSI, and RefSpatial-Bench. Real-robot experiments show that RynnBrain-initialized policies outperform Qwen-based and representative generalist VLAs, while joint multi-task and multi-embodiment training improves process scores and success rates over per-task training.

GeoAnchor: Collaborative Reasoning via Latent Decomposition for 3D Spatial Understanding

Although multimodal large language models (MLLMs) have achieved remarkable progress, understanding 3D spatial relationships from 2D images remains a critical challenge. Existing methods primarily rely on symbolic text tokens, which inherently lack the fidelity to represent continuous geometric information. While recent methods use latent representations to enhance reasoning, relying on a single latent type cannot adapt to the diversity of spatial tasks, leading to misalignment in complex geometric scenarios. To address these limitations, we propose GeoAnchor, an interleaved text-latent reasoning framework. GeoAnchor decomposes 3D spatial information into three complementary components: position latents for object grounding, direction latents for relational orientation, and geometry latents for scene structure. These components are recombined in a structured space to construct local evidence while capturing global context, enabling dynamic and interpretable reasoning. Furthermore, we introduce a collaborative training strategy that guides the model from local spatial perception to comprehensive 3D understanding. Extensive experiments on diverse and complex 3D reasoning tasks demonstrate that GeoAnchor outperforms the state of the art, validating its effectiveness and generalization capabilities.

CAIRN: Cross-Room 3D Scene Understanding with Topology-Aware Large Multimodal Models

Existing 3D scene-grounded Large Language Models (3D-LLMs) focus on answering questions grounded in simplified single-room 3D scenes, lacking the ability to reason over real-world household environments containing multiple interconnected rooms and diverse object categories. We introduce CAIRN, a topology-aware 3D-LLM for multi-room 3D scene understanding. CAIRN aligns transformer attention with scene hierarchy, giving the model explicit awareness of object-level relations and room-level connectivity. It enriches object tokens with room-local relational context via a graph neural network, introduces learned room tokens for room-level abstraction, and applies a hierarchical attention mask with geometric bias to route information according to scene topology. CAIRN is developed on CAIRN-MR, a benchmark we introduce on HM3D for multi-room 3D scene understanding, covering grounding, captioning, and four question-answering tasks that progressively evaluate from intra-room perception to cross-room reasoning. Experiments show that CAIRN outperforms prior 3D-LLMs by a large margin across all CAIRN-MR tasks while remaining competitive on five single-room benchmarks.

Ground3D-LMM: Fine-Grained 3D Point Grounding and Spatial Reasoning with LMM

Natural-language queries about 3D environments become actionable when responses are verifiable and metric. Verifiability requires explicit grounding to the referred 3D region, while metric answers report physical measurements in real-world units (e.g., size, thickness, clearance, and distance). Existing 3D large multimodal models (LMMs) approaches remain limited: conversational systems typically respond without explicit 3D grounding, while 3D grounding models are not designed for interactive, metric-aware dialogue. In this paper, we present Ground3D-LMM, a unified model that takes a point cloud and an optional RGB image as input and supports 3D spatial conversation with (i) point-grounded responses and (ii) metric numeric outputs at both object and part granularity, including multi-object queries. To evaluate this intersection of grounding and measurement, we define the 3D Grounded Measurement task, which requires predicting the referred 3D region and the corresponding metric quantities in real-world units. We introduce a large-scale dataset built on ScanNet and ScanNet++ datasets with dense object and part annotations and roughly 2.5M question-answer pairs spanning eight tasks, along with a manually verified test set. Extensive experiments on multiple datasets and tasks show that our proposed Ground3D-LMM model provides a strong baseline for grounded, metric-aware 3D conversational understanding. Our dataset and model are publicly available.

MV-GEL: Language-Driven Multi-View Geometric Entity Localization on Meshes

Identifying and grounding precise geometric entities, such as edges, planar regions, and curved surfaces within 3D objects, is foundational to computer-aided design (CAD), robotic manipulation, and scientific simulation. Although modern Vision Language Models (VLMs) have advanced referring segmentation (RIS) in the image domain, extending such language-driven localization to structured 3D geometry is substantially harder. The 3D object appearance is highly sensitive to viewpoints; a single perspective may render a target entity clearly observable, while another may suffer from severe occlusion or foreshortening. In this work, we attempt to solve these challenges with MV-GEL (Multi-View Geometric Entity Localization), a framework for localizing fine-grained geometric entities on polygon meshes from natural language queries. Our key insight is that reliable CAD entity (i.e., faces, edges or solids) localization depends on selecting views that make the queried entity maximally interpretable. We introduce GELviews, a prompt-conditioned ranking module that prioritizes viewpoints based on language prompted observability of geometric CAD entities. Selected views are processed by a VLM-based reasoning segmentation backbone, and predicted masks are lifted to the corresponding meshes via geometry-aware ray casting. Our framework is completely CAD agnostic and relies only on 3D meshes. Experiments show up to a 1.7X improvement in face-level IoU and over 4.5X gains in edge-level F1 compared to vanilla baselines, substantially outperforming CLIP-based and random view sampling, particularly for thin and view-sensitive structures. The dataset, code and trained checkpoints are available at https://github.com/kbali1297/MV-GEL.

Think While You Map: Asynchronous Vision-Language Agents for Incremental 3D Scene Graphs

Open-vocabulary 3D scene graph methods typically operate in two stages: first reconstruct, then enrich with vision-language models, leaving the graph unqueryable during exploration. We argue that this sequential coupling is unnecessary and propose an asynchronous architecture in which lightweight online mapping runs concurrently with heavyweight semantic refinement. A probabilistic voxel-based backbone maintains stable object identities incrementally, while background VLM agents progressively enrich the graph. This framework resolves duplicate object tracks through semantic loop closure, attaches fine-grained visual attributes and derives spatial relations between objects. A multi-target frame scheduler amortizes VLM cost by selecting a small set of informative frames that jointly cover multiple targets. The resulting scene graph is queryable during exploration and grows in semantic richness over time. Our method matches or outperforms existing open-vocabulary 3D scene graph methods on semantic segmentation (ScanNet, Replica) and surpasses the prior state-of-the-art across three visual grounding benchmarks (Sr3D+, Nr3D, ScanRefer) by 15.3 to 18.8 [email protected]. PruneGround: Plug-and-play Spatial Pruning for 3D Visual Grounding

3D Visual Grounding (3DVG) aims to localize target objects in 3D scenes given natural language descriptions. Existing approaches typically perform reasoning over the entire scene, leading to ambiguous predictions and high computational cost, especially in cluttered environments. We observe that many referential expressions rely on local spatial context and often correspond to restricted spatial regions rather than the full scene. Motivated by this insight, we propose PruneGround, an effective plug-and-play framework for 3DVG built upon three key components. First, we introduce Language-Guided Spatial Pruning (LGSP), which leverages a frozen Vision Language Model (VLM) to identify language-relevant regions, thereby reducing spatial computation and grounding candidates in the narrower search space. Second, we propose MultiView-Conditioned Description Reformulation (MCDR), which decomposes complex expressions into simplified target-anchor relations and augments missing spatial cues through multi-view reasoning. Finally, we propose LLM-Grounder, which repurposes a detection-pretrained spatial LLM into a language-conditioned grounding model by aligning point cloud and linguistic representations within the pruned region. Extensive experiments on the three most popular point cloud benchmarks demonstrate that our method achieves state-of-the-art results on all three ScanRefer settings and on 9 out of 10 Nr3D/Sr3D settings. Open-Vocabulary and Referring Segmentation for 3D Gaussians Using 2D Detectors

3D Gaussian Splatting (3DGS) has emerged at the forefront of 3D scene reconstruction. Extending 3DGS with language-driven, open-vocabulary understanding has gained significant attention for real-world applications such as embodied AI. Recent methods achieve this by learning an instance feature attribute and assigning semantics by distilling high-dimensional Contrastive Language-Image Pretraining (CLIP) features directly into the scene representation. However, the instance grouping mechanisms of these methods either require a predefined number of instances or suffer from noise in their bottom-up grouping strategies. Furthermore, the reliance on CLIP restricts semantic understanding to simple noun phrases, preventing complex spatial reasoning and referential expression grounding. We present GaussDet, a method that circumvents the need for dense CLIP features by leveraging discrete, open-vocabulary 2D object detectors with referring expression capabilities. We learn instance features for individual Gaussians to decompose the scene into 3D instance groups. By rendering these groups and aggregating semantic votes from multi-view 2D detections, we generate a robust View-Aggregated Semantic Label Distribution (VASD) for each 3D instance. This view-aggregation strategy acts as a strong regularizer, attenuating spurious labels caused by low-quality instance grouping. Our approach enables a straightforward, zero-shot extension from simple language queries to complex referential grounding. Extensive evaluations across two key tasks -- open-vocabulary segmentation (LeRF-OVS, ScanNet) and referring expression grounding (Ref-LeRF) -- demonstrate that GaussDet achieves consistent improvements over existing methods. Most notably, we achieve a substantial 16.7% mIoU improvement in referential grounding within a strict zero-shot setting.

GROW2^2: Grounding Which and Where for Robot Tool Use

Can the robot use a plate to cut a cake if no knife is available? Tool use greatly expands robot capabilities, but to use tools creatively beyond their intended functions, the robot faces the challenge of open-world affordance grounding\textit{open-world affordance grounding}: select an open-category object to act as a tool and localize its specific region of action. To this end, we introduce GROW2^2 (GROunding Which and Where), which leverages object parts as a natural abstraction to split the grounding process hierarchically into semantic and geometric levels, thus bypassing the need for data-heavy, end-to-end training. Semantically, GROW2^2 harnesses the commonsense reasoning of Vision-Language Models (VLMs) to parse a natural-language task instruction, select a suitable object as the tool, and identify task-relevant parts on the tool and the target object. Geometrically, vision foundation models then ground the selected parts into precise 3D regions from a single RGB-D image. Experiments on established benchmarks show that GROW2^2 outperforms state-of-the-art baselines on affordance prediction benchmarks. Further, it achieves zero-shot generalization over open-category objects and outperforms baselines in both simulated and real-world robot tool use experiments.

SAD-GS: Learning Reliable 3D Semantic Gaussian Fields via Dynamic Geo-Semantic Anchoring

Open-vocabulary 3D semantic Gaussian field learning relies on multi-view 2D supervision, whose semantic targets and spatial assignments are often unreliable. Across varying viewpoints, view-dependent features cause semantic identity drift, while propagated tracker masks introduce boundary leakage and identity switches. Directly optimizing against these unreliable 2D targets forces the 3D representation to absorb multi-view contradictions, leading to severe error accumulation. To resolve this limitation, we propose SAD-GS, a framework for learning reliable 3D semantic Gaussian fields via dynamic geo-semantic anchoring. Specifically, Semantic Anchor Distillation (SAD) distills per-view visual embeddings into consensus text anchors to establish a viewpoint-invariant semantic identity. Concurrently, the Geo-Semantic Feedback Loop (GSFL) leverages the evolving 3D field to actively filter tracker anomalies and refine spatial mask assignments via a conservative three-gate update rule. Extensive evaluations on LERF-OVS, 3D-OVS, and Mip-NeRF360 show that SAD-GS consistently achieves the best overall performance in both open-vocabulary localization and semantic segmentation. These comprehensive improvements validate the effectiveness and robustness of dynamic geo-semantic anchoring for reliable 3D semantic Gaussian field learning.

Direct Action-Head Injection of A Grounded 3D Point Unlocks Spatial and Task Generalization

Vision-Language-Action (VLA) models leverage large-scale vision-language pretraining for flexible robot manipulation, yet at test time they remain brittle to changed object positions and to familiar scenes paired with different instructions. A growing family of methods addresses this brittleness by supplying the policy with grounding signals, such as 2D pixel coordinates for object localization and placement. However, we find that how the grounding signal is represented and injected matters more than the signal itself. In this work, we propose a lightweight module that represents the grounding signal in 3D and injects the resulting embedding directly into the action head. The module is a two-layer MLP and requires no changes to the VLA backbone or pretraining pipeline, yet it yields substantially larger gains than language- or visual-prompting alternatives. On LIBERO-PRO, our method improves the average success rate of GR00T-N1.6 from 31.231.2 to 77.577.5 under task perturbation and from 28.128.1 to 60.260.2 under position perturbation. Comparable gains are also achieved for π0.5π_{0.5}, demonstrating that the mechanism is backbone-agnostic across VLAs with diffusion-based action heads. We further validate the practical applicability with real-world experiments. Together, these results support our central finding: lifting adequate 2D grounding into 3D and injecting it into the action head enables spatial and instance-level task generalization in VLAs.

Agentic Collaborative Cognition for Zero-Shot 3D Understanding

Recent advancements have explored agentic zero-shot 3D understanding by reformulating it as video keyframe understanding with Multimodal Large Language Models (MLLMs). However, existing methods face an intrinsic bottleneck due to the finite observation perspectives inherent in videos and the implicit perception of 3D scenes. In this paper, we propose a collaborative multi-agent framework that assigns a Planning Agent to handle high-level viewpoint planning and supplement novel perspectives, and a Perception Agent to explicitly summarize the 3D scene into a structured holistic cognitive map. Specifically, Planning Agent first analyzes this cognitive map to determine query-relevant viewpoints and supplements missing critical perspectives to ensure comprehensive observation. Subsequently, Perception Agent documents object-level attributes from these views by assigning consistent instance identifiers across viewpoints, thereby integrating fragmented observations into the holistic cognitive map. In parallel, it provides feedback to filter out mismatched candidate objects and guide subsequent viewpoint planning. Through this closed-loop iterative process, two agents collaboratively figure out candidates until Perception Agent determines that sufficient information has been captured to complete the task. Extensive experiments demonstrate that our method achieves state-of-the-art performance on 6 benchmarks, with improvements of 11.1% [email protected] on ScanRefer, 14.6 BLEU-1 on 3D-assisted dialog, and 2.1 EM on SQA3D.
