Sparse-View 3D Reconstruction

Overview

Sparse-view 3D reconstruction studies how to infer a coherent 3D scene from only a few images, enabling novel-view rendering, measurement, and simulation when dense capture is impractical. Methods optimize neural radiance fields or 3D Gaussian splats per scene, or use feed-forward models that predict geometry, camera poses, and appearance directly. Depth and stereo cues, pretrained 3D foundation models, uncertainty estimates, and diffusion-generated views are increasingly used to constrain poorly observed regions and guide view selection. The central challenge is completing unseen areas without letting inaccurate priors or generated details contradict the evidence, while balancing geometric accuracy, visual quality, generalization, and speed.

Rendering Multi-Human and Multi-Object with 3D Gaussian Splatting

Reconstructing dynamic scenes with multiple interacting humans and objects from sparse-view inputs is a critical yet challenging task, essential for creating high-fidelity digital twins for robotics and VR/AR. This problem, which we term Multi-Human Multi-Object (MHMO) rendering, presents two significant obstacles: achieving view-consistent representations for individual instances under severe mutual occlusion, and explicitly modeling the complex and combinatorial dependencies that arise from their interactions. To overcome these challenges, we propose MM-GS, a novel hierarchical framework built upon 3D Gaussian Splatting. Our method first employs a Per-Instance Multi-View Fusion module to establish a robust and consistent representation for each instance by aggregating visual information across all available views. Subsequently, a Scene-Level Instance Interaction module operates on a global scene graph to reason about relationships between all participants, refining their attributes to capture subtle interaction effects. Extensive experiments on challenging datasets demonstrate that our method significantly outperforms strong baselines, producing state-of-the-art results with high-fidelity details and plausible inter-instance contacts.

RecGen3D: Reconstruction-Guided 3D Generation in a Shared Canonical Space

Sparse-view 3D modeling represents a fundamental tension between reconstruction fidelity and generative plausibility. While feed-forward reconstruction excels in efficiency and input alignment, it often lacks the global priors needed for structural completeness. Conversely, diffusion-based generation provides rich geometric details but struggles with multi-view consistency. We present RecGen3D, a framework that combines these two paradigms into a cooperative system. To overcome inherent conflicts in coordinate spaces, 3D representations, and training objectives, we align both models within a shared canonical space. We employ decoupled cooperative learning, which maintains stable training while enabling seamless collaboration during inference. Specifically, the reconstruction module is adapted to provide canonical geometric anchors, while the diffusion generator leverages latent-augmented conditioning to refine and complete the geometric structure. Experimental results demonstrate that RecGen3D achieves superior fidelity and robustness, outperforming existing methods in creating complete and consistent 3D models from sparse observations.

AA-Splat: Anti-Aliased Feed-forward Gaussian Splatting

Feed-forward 3D Gaussian Splatting (FF-3DGS) emerges as a fast and robust solution for sparse-view 3D reconstruction and novel view synthesis (NVS). However, existing FF-3DGS methods are built on incorrect screen-space dilation filters, causing severe rendering artifacts when rendering at out-of-distribution sampling rates. We firstly propose an FF-3DGS model, called AA-Splat, to enable robust anti-aliased rendering at any resolution. AA-Splat utilizes an opacity-balanced band-limiting (OBBL) design, which combines two components: a 3D band-limiting post-filter integrates multi-view maximal frequency bounds into the feed-forward reconstruction pipeline, effectively band-limiting the resulting 3D scene representations and eliminating degenerate Gaussians; an Opacity Balancing (OB) to seamlessly integrate all pixel-aligned Gaussian primitives into the rendering process, compensating for the increased overlap between expanded Gaussian primitives. AA-Splat demonstrates drastic improvements with average 5.4∼\sim7.5dB PSNR gains on NVS performance over a state-of-the-art (SOTA) baseline, DepthSplat, at all resolutions, between 4×4\times and 1/4×1/4\times. Code will be made available.

SGS-Intrinsic: Semantic-Invariant Gaussian Splatting for Sparse-View Indoor Inverse Rendering

We present SGS-Intrinsic, an indoor inverse rendering framework that works well for sparse-view images. Unlike existing 3D Gaussian Splatting (3DGS) based methods that focus on object-centric reconstruction and fail to work under sparse view settings, our method allows to achieve high-quality geometry reconstruction and accurate disentanglement of material and illumination. The core idea is to construct a dense and geometry-consistent Gaussian semantic field guided by semantic and geometric priors, providing a reliable foundation for subsequent inverse rendering. Building upon this, we perform material-illumination disentanglement by combining a hybrid illumination model and material prior to effectively capture illumination-material interactions. To mitigate the impact of cast shadows and enhance the robustness of material recovery, we introduce illumination-invariant material constraint together with a deshadowing model. Extensive experiments on benchmark datasets show that our method consistently improves both reconstruction fidelity and inverse rendering quality over existing 3DGS-based inverse rendering approaches. Our code is available at https://github.com/GrumpySloths/SGS_Intrinsic.github.io.

Detailed Geometry and Appearance from Opportunistic Motion

Reconstructing 3D geometry and appearance from a sparse set of fixed cameras is a foundational task with broad applications, yet it remains fundamentally constrained by the limited viewpoints. We show that this bound can be broken by exploiting opportunistic object motion: as a person manipulates an object~(e.g., moving a chair or lifting a mug), the static cameras effectively ``orbit'' the object in its local coordinate frame, providing additional virtual viewpoints. Harnessing this object motion, however, poses two challenges: the tight coupling of object pose and geometry estimation and the complex appearance variations of a moving object under static illumination. We address these by formulating a joint pose and shape optimization using 2D Gaussian splatting with alternating minimization of 6DoF trajectories and primitive parameters, and by introducing a novel appearance model that factorizes diffuse and specular components with reflected directional probing within the spherical harmonics space. Extensive experiments on synthetic and real-world datasets with extremely sparse viewpoints demonstrate that our method recovers significantly more accurate geometry and appearance than state-of-the-art baselines.

SparseCam4D: Spatio-Temporally Consistent 4D Reconstruction from Sparse Cameras

High-quality 4D reconstruction enables photorealistic and immersive rendering of the dynamic real world. However, unlike static scenes that can be fully captured with a single camera, high-quality dynamic scenes typically require dense arrays of tens or even hundreds of synchronized cameras. Dependence on such costly lab setups severely limits practical scalability. To this end, we propose a sparse-camera dynamic reconstruction framework that exploits abundant yet inconsistent generative observations. Our key innovation is the Spatio-Temporal Distortion Field, which provides a unified mechanism for modeling inconsistencies in generative observations across both spatial and temporal dimensions. Building on this, we develop a complete pipeline that enables 4D reconstruction from sparse and uncalibrated camera inputs. We evaluate our method on multi-camera dynamic scene benchmarks, achieving spatio-temporally consistent high-fidelity renderings and significantly outperforming existing approaches. Fus3D: Decoding Consolidated 3D Geometry from Feed-forward Geometry Transformer Latents

We propose a feed-forward method for dense Signed Distance Field (SDF) regression from unstructured image collections in less than three seconds, without camera calibration or post-hoc fusion. Our key insight is that the intermediate feature space of pretrained multi-view feed-forward geometry transformers already encodes a powerful joint world representation; yet, existing pipelines discard it, routing features through per-view prediction heads before assembling 3D geometry post-hoc, which discards valuable completeness information and accumulates inaccuracies. We instead perform 3D extraction directly from geometry transformer features via learned volumetric extraction: voxelized canonical embeddings that progressively absorb multi-view geometry information through interleaved cross- and self-attention into a structured volumetric latent grid. A simple convolutional decoder then maps this grid to a dense SDF. We additionally propose a scalable, validity-aware supervision scheme directly using SDFs derived from depth maps or 3D assets, tackling practical issues like non-watertight meshes. Our approach yields complete and well-defined distance values across sparse- and dense-view settings and demonstrates geometrically plausible completions. Few TensoRF: Enhance the Few-shot on Tensorial Radiance Fields

This paper presents Few TensoRF, a 3D reconstruction framework that combines TensorRF's efficient tensor based representation with FreeNeRF's frequency driven few shot regularization. Using TensorRF to significantly accelerate rendering speed and introducing frequency and occlusion masks, the method improves stability and reconstruction quality under sparse input views. Experiments on the Synthesis NeRF benchmark show that Few TensoRF method improves the average PSNR from 21.45 dB (TensorRF) to 23.70 dB, with the fine tuned version reaching 24.52 dB, while maintaining TensorRF's fast ≈10−15\approx10-15 minute training time. Experiments on the THuman 2.0 dataset further demonstrate competitive performance in human body reconstruction, achieving 27.37 - 34.00 dB with only eight input images. These results highlight Few TensoRF as an efficient and data effective solution for real-time 3D reconstruction across diverse scenes.

ICTPolarReal: A Polarized Reflection and Material Dataset of Real World Objects

Accurately modeling how real-world materials reflect light remains a core challenge in inverse rendering, largely due to the scarcity of real measured reflectance data. Existing approaches rely heavily on synthetic datasets with simplified illumination and limited material realism, preventing models from generalizing to real-world images. We introduce a large-scale polarized reflection and material dataset of real-world objects, captured with an 8-camera, 346-light Light Stage equipped with cross/parallel polarization. Our dataset spans 218 everyday objects across five acquisition dimensions-multiview, multi-illumination, polarization, reflectance separation, and material attributes-yielding over 1.2M high-resolution images with diffuse-specular separation and analytically derived diffuse albedo, specular albedo, and surface normals. Using this dataset, we train and evaluate state-of-the-art inverse and forward rendering models on intrinsic decomposition, relighting, and sparse-view 3D reconstruction, demonstrating significant improvements in material separation, illumination fidelity, and geometric consistency. We hope that our work can establish a new foundation for physically grounded material understanding and enable real-world generalization beyond synthetic training regimes. FHAvatar: Fast and High-Fidelity Reconstruction of Face-and-Hair Composable 3D Head Avatar from Few Casual Captures

We present FHAvatar, a novel framework for reconstructing 3D Gaussian avatars with composable face and hair components from an arbitrary number of views. Unlike previous approaches that couple facial and hair representations within a unified modeling process, we explicitly decouple two components in texture space by representing the face with planar Gaussians and the hair with strand-based Gaussians. To overcome the limitations of existing methods that rely on dense multi-view captures or costly per-identity optimization, we propose an aggregated transformer backbone to learn geometry-aware cross-view priors and head-hair structural coherence from multi-view datasets, enabling effective and efficient feature extraction and fusion from few casual captures. Extensive quantitative and qualitative experiments demonstrate that FHAvatar achieves state-of-the-art reconstruction quality from only a few observations of new identities within minutes, while supporting real-time animation, convenient hairstyle transfer, and stylized editing, broadening the accessibility and applicability of digital avatar creation.

Training-Free Instance-Aware 3D Scene Reconstruction and Diffusion-Based View Synthesis from Sparse Images

We introduce a novel, training-free system for reconstructing, understanding, and rendering 3D indoor scenes from a sparse set of unposed RGB images. Unlike traditional radiance field approaches that require dense views and per-scene optimization, our pipeline achieves high-fidelity results without any training or pose preprocessing. The system integrates three key innovations: (1) A robust point cloud reconstruction module that filters unreliable geometry using a warping-based anomaly removal strategy; (2) A warping-guided 2D-to-3D instance lifting mechanism that propagates 2D segmentation masks into a consistent, instance-aware 3D representation; and (3) A novel rendering approach that projects the point cloud into new views and refines the renderings with a 3D-aware diffusion model. Our method leverages the generative power of diffusion to compensate for missing geometry and enhances realism, especially under sparse input conditions. We further demonstrate that object-level scene editing such as instance removal can be naturally supported in our pipeline by modifying only the point cloud, enabling the synthesis of consistent, edited views without retraining. Our results establish a new direction for efficient, editable 3D content generation without relying on scene-specific optimization. Project page: https://jiatongxia.github.io/TID3R/

ReLi3D: Relightable Multi-view 3D Reconstruction with Disentangled Illumination

Reconstructing 3D assets from images has long required separate pipelines for geometry reconstruction, material estimation, and illumination recovery, each with distinct limitations and computational overhead. We present ReLi3D, the first unified end-to-end pipeline that simultaneously reconstructs complete 3D geometry, spatially-varying physically-based materials, and environment illumination from sparse multi-view images in under one second. Our key insight is that multi-view constraints can dramatically improve material and illumination disentanglement, a problem that remains fundamentally ill-posed for single-image methods. Key to our approach is the fusion of the multi-view input via a transformer cross-conditioning architecture, followed by a novel unified two-path prediction strategy. The first path predicts the object's structure and appearance, while the second path predicts the environment illumination from image background or object reflections. This, combined with a differentiable Monte Carlo multiple importance sampling renderer, creates an optimal illumination disentanglement training pipeline. In addition, with our mixed domain training protocol, which combines synthetic PBR datasets with real-world RGB captures, we establish generalizable results in geometry, material accuracy, and illumination quality. By unifying previously separate reconstruction tasks into a single feed-forward pass, we enable near-instantaneous generation of complete, relightable 3D assets. UniSem: Generalizable Semantic 3D Reconstruction from Sparse Unposed Images

Semantic-aware 3D reconstruction from sparse, unposed images remains challenging for feed-forward 3D Gaussian Splatting (3DGS). Existing methods often predict an over-complete set of Gaussian primitives under sparse-view supervision, leading to unstable geometry and inferior depth quality. Meanwhile, they rely solely on 2D segmenter features for semantic lifting, which provides weak 3D-level and limited generalizable supervision, resulting in incomplete 3D semantics in novel scenes. To address these issues, we propose UniSem, a unified framework that jointly improves depth accuracy and semantic generalization via two key components. First, Error-aware Gaussian Dropout (EGD) performs error-guided capacity control by suppressing redundancy-prone Gaussians using rendering error cues, producing meaningful, geometrically stable Gaussian representations for improved depth estimation. Second, we introduce a Mix-training Curriculum (MTC) that progressively blends 2D segmenter-lifted semantics with the model's own emergent 3D semantic priors, implemented with object-level prototype alignment to enhance semantic coherence and completeness. Extensive experiments on ScanNet and Replica show that UniSem achieves superior performance in depth prediction and open-vocabulary 3D segmentation across varying numbers of input views. Notably, with 16-view inputs, UniSem reduces depth Rel by 15.2% and improves open-vocabulary segmentation mAcc by 3.7% over strong baselines.

GGPT: Geometry Grounded Point Transformer

Recent feed-forward networks have achieved remarkable progress in sparse-view 3D reconstruction by predicting dense point maps directly from RGB images. However, they often suffer from geometric inconsistencies and limited fine-grained accuracy due to the absence of explicit multi-view constraints. We introduce the Geometry-Grounded Point Transformer (GGPT), a framework that augments feed-forward reconstruction with reliable sparse geometric guidance. We first propose an improved Structure-from-Motion pipeline based on dense feature matching and lightweight geometric optimisation to efficiently estimate accurate camera poses and partial 3D point clouds from sparse input views. Building on this foundation, we propose a geometry-guided 3D point transformer that refines dense point maps under explicit partial-geometry supervision using an optimised guidance encoding. Extensive experiments demonstrate that our method provides a principled mechanism for integrating geometric priors with dense feed-forward predictions, producing reconstructions that are both geometrically consistent and spatially complete, recovering fine structures and filling gaps in textureless areas. Trained solely on ScanNet++ with VGGT predictions, GGPT generalises across architectures and datasets, substantially outperforming state-of-the-art feed-forward 3D reconstruction models in both in-domain and out-of-domain settings.

S2D: Sparse to Dense Lifting for 3D Reconstruction with Minimal Inputs

Explicit 3D representations have already become an essential medium for 3D simulation and understanding. However, the most commonly used point cloud and 3D Gaussian Splatting (3DGS) each suffer from non-photorealistic rendering and significant degradation under sparse inputs. In this paper, we introduce Sparse to Dense lifting (S2D), a novel pipeline that bridges the two representations and achieves high-quality 3DGS reconstruction with minimal inputs. Specifically, the S2D lifting is two-fold. We first present an efficient one-step diffusion model that lifts sparse point cloud for high-fidelity image artifact fixing. Meanwhile, to reconstruct 3D consistent scenes, we also design a corresponding reconstruction strategy with random sample drop and weighted gradient for robust model fitting from sparse input views to dense novel views. Extensive experiments show that S2D achieves the best consistency in generating novel view guidance and first-tier sparse view reconstruction quality under different input sparsity. By reconstructing stable scenes with the least possible captures among existing methods, S2D enables minimal input requirements for 3DGS applications.

Towards 3D Scene Understanding of Gas Plumes in LWIR Hyperspectral Images Using Neural Radiance Fields

Hyperspectral images (HSI) have many applications, ranging from environmental monitoring to national security, and can be used for material detection and identification. Longwave infrared (LWIR) HSI can be used for gas plume detection and analysis. Oftentimes, only a few images of a scene of interest are available and are analyzed individually. The ability to combine information from multiple images into a single, cohesive representation could enhance analysis by providing more context on the scene's geometry and spectral properties. Neural radiance fields (NeRFs) create a latent neural representation of volumetric scene properties that enable novel-view rendering and geometry reconstruction, offering a promising avenue for hyperspectral 3D scene reconstruction. We explore the possibility of using NeRFs to create 3D scene reconstructions from LWIR HSI and demonstrate that the model can be used for the basic downstream analysis task of gas plume detection. The physics-based DIRSIG software suite was used to generate a synthetic multi-view LWIR HSI dataset of a simple facility with a strong sulfur hexafluoride gas plume. Our method, built on the standard Mip-NeRF architecture, combines state-of-the-art methods for hyperspectral NeRFs and sparse-view NeRFs, along with a novel adaptive weighted MSE loss. Our final NeRF method requires around 50% fewer training images than the standard Mip-NeRF and achieves an average PSNR of 39.8 dB with as few as 30 training images. Gas plume detection applied to NeRF-rendered test images using the adaptive coherence estimator achieves an average AUC of 0.821 when compared with detection masks generated from ground-truth test images.

DSA-SRGS: Super-Resolution Gaussian Splatting for Dynamic Sparse-View DSA Reconstruction

Digital subtraction angiography (DSA) is a key imaging technique for the auxiliary diagnosis and treatment of cerebrovascular diseases. Recent advancements in gaussian splatting and dynamic neural representations have enabled robust 3D vessel reconstruction from sparse dynamic inputs. However, these methods are fundamentally constrained by the resolution of input projections, where performing naive upsampling to enhance rendering resolution inevitably results in severe blurring and aliasing artifacts. Such lack of super-resolution capability prevents the reconstructed 4D models from recovering fine-grained vascular details and intricate branching structures, which restricts their application in precision diagnosis and treatment. To solve this problem, this paper proposes DSA-SRGS, the first super-resolution gaussian splatting framework for dynamic sparse-view DSA reconstruction. Specifically, we introduce a Multi-Fidelity Texture Learning Module that integrates high-quality priors from a fine-tuned DSA-specific super-resolution model, into the 4D reconstruction optimization. To mitigate potential hallucination artifacts from pseudo-labels, this module employs a Confidence-Aware Strategy to adaptively weight supervision signals between the original low-resolution projections and the generated high-resolution pseudo-labels. Furthermore, we develop Radiative Sub-Pixel Densification, an adaptive strategy that leverages gradient accumulation from high-resolution sub-pixel sampling to refine the 4D radiative gaussian kernels. Extensive experiments on two clinical DSA datasets demonstrate that DSA-SRGS significantly outperforms state-of-the-art methods in both quantitative metrics and qualitative visual fidelity.

Intrinsic Geometry-Appearance Consistency Optimization for Sparse-View Gaussian Splatting

3D human reconstruction from a single image is a challenging problem and has been exclusively studied in the literature. Recently, some methods have resorted to diffusion models for guidance, optimizing a 3D representation via Score Distillation Sampling(SDS) or generating a back-view image for facilitating reconstruction. However, these methods tend to produce unsatisfactory artifacts (e.g. flattened human structure or over-smoothing results caused by inconsistent priors from multiple views) and struggle with real-world generalization in the wild. In this work, we present MVD-HuGaS, enabling free-view 3D human rendering from a single image via a multi-view human diffusion model. We first generate multi-view images from the single reference image with an enhanced multi-view diffusion model, which is well fine-tuned on high-quality 3D human datasets to incorporate 3D geometry priors and human structure priors. To infer accurate camera poses from the sparse generated multi-view images for reconstruction, an alignment module is introduced to facilitate joint optimization of 3D Gaussians and camera poses. Furthermore, we propose a depth-based Facial Distortion Mitigation module to refine the generated facial regions, thereby improving the overall fidelity of the reconstruction. Finally, leveraging the refined multi-view images, along with their accurate camera poses, MVD-HuGaS optimizes the 3D Gaussians of the target human for high-fidelity free-view renderings. Extensive experiments on Thuman2.0 and 2K2K datasets show that the proposed MVD-HuGaS achieves state-of-the-art performance on single-view 3D human rendering.

Multimodal-Prior-Guided Importance Sampling for Hierarchical Gaussian Splatting in Sparse-View Novel View Synthesis

We present multimodal-prior-guided importance sampling as the central mechanism for hierarchical 3D Gaussian Splatting (3DGS) in sparse-view novel view synthesis. Our sampler fuses complementary cues { -- } photometric rendering residuals, semantic priors, and geometric priors { -- } to produce a robust, local recoverability estimate that directly drives where to inject fine Gaussians. Built around this sampling core, our framework comprises (1) a coarse-to-fine Gaussian representation that encodes global shape with a stable coarse layer and selectively adds fine primitives where the multimodal metric indicates recoverable detail; and (2) a geometric-aware sampling and retention policy that concentrates refinement on geometrically critical and complex regions while protecting newly added primitives in underconstrained areas from premature pruning. By prioritizing regions supported by consistent multimodal evidence rather than raw residuals alone, our method alleviates overfitting texture-induced errors and suppresses noise from pose/appearance inconsistencies. Experiments on diverse sparse-view benchmarks demonstrate state-of-the-art reconstructions, with up to +0.3 dB PSNR on DTU.

SemGS: Feed-Forward Semantic 3D Gaussian Splatting from Sparse Views for Generalizable Scene Understanding

Semantic understanding of 3D scenes is essential for robots to operate effectively and safely in complex environments. Existing methods for semantic scene reconstruction and semantic-aware novel view synthesis often rely on dense multi-view inputs and require scene-specific optimization, limiting their practicality and scalability in real-world applications. To address these challenges, we propose SemGS, a feed-forward framework for reconstructing generalizable semantic fields from sparse image inputs. SemGS uses a dual-branch architecture to extract color and semantic features, where the two branches share shallow CNN layers, allowing semantic reasoning to leverage textural and structural cues in color appearance. We also incorporate a camera-aware attention mechanism into the feature extractor to explicitly model geometric relationships between camera viewpoints. The extracted features are decoded into dual-Gaussians that share geometric consistency while preserving branch-specific attributes, and further rasterized to synthesize semantic maps under novel viewpoints. Additionally, we introduce a regional smoothness loss to enhance semantic coherence. Experiments show that SemGS achieves state-of-the-art performance on benchmark datasets, while providing rapid inference and strong generalization capabilities across diverse synthetic and real-world scenarios.

Sparse View Distractor-Free Gaussian Splatting

3D Gaussian Splatting (3DGS) enables efficient training and fast novel view synthesis in static environments. To address challenges posed by transient objects, distractor-free 3DGS methods have emerged and shown promising results when dense image captures are available. However, their performance degrades significantly under sparse input conditions. This limitation primarily stems from the reliance on the color residual heuristics to guide the training, which becomes unreliable with limited observations. In this work, we propose a framework to enhance distractor-free 3DGS under sparse-view conditions by incorporating rich prior information. Specifically, we first adopt the geometry foundation model VGGT to estimate camera parameters and generate a dense set of initial 3D points. Then, we harness the attention maps from VGGT for efficient and accurate semantic entity matching. Additionally, we utilize Vision-Language Models (VLMs) to further identify and preserve the large static regions in the scene. We also demonstrate how these priors can be seamlessly integrated into existing distractor-free 3DGS methods. Extensive experiments confirm the effectiveness and robustness of our approach in mitigating transient distractors for sparse-view 3DGS training.

HeroGS: Hierarchical Guidance for Robust 3D Gaussian Splatting under Sparse Views

3D Gaussian Splatting (3DGS) has recently emerged as a promising approach in novel view synthesis, combining photorealistic rendering with real-time efficiency. However, its success heavily relies on dense camera coverage; under sparse-view conditions, insufficient supervision leads to irregular Gaussian distributions, characterized by globally sparse coverage, blurred background, and distorted high-frequency areas. To address this, we propose HeroGS, Hierarchical Guidance for Robust 3D Gaussian Splatting, a unified framework that establishes hierarchical guidance across the image, feature, and parameter levels. At the image level, sparse supervision is converted into pseudo-dense guidance, globally regularizing the Gaussian distributions and forming a consistent foundation for subsequent optimization. Building upon this, Feature-Adaptive Densification and Pruning (FADP) at the feature level leverages low-level features to refine high-frequency details and adaptively densifies Gaussians in background regions. The optimized distributions then support Co-Pruned Geometry Consistency (CPG) at parameter level, which guides geometric consistency through parameter freezing and co-pruning, effectively removing inconsistent splats. The hierarchical guidance strategy effectively constrains and optimizes the overall Gaussian distributions, thereby enhancing both structural fidelity and rendering quality. Extensive experiments demonstrate that HeroGS achieves high-fidelity reconstructions and consistently surpasses state-of-the-art baselines under sparse-view conditions.

SR3R: Rethinking Super-Resolution 3D Reconstruction With Feed-Forward Gaussian Splatting

3D super-resolution (3DSR) aims to reconstruct high-resolution (HR) 3D scenes from low-resolution (LR) multi-view images. Existing methods rely on dense LR inputs and per-scene optimization, which restricts the high-frequency priors for constructing HR 3D Gaussian Splatting (3DGS) to those inherited from pretrained 2D super-resolution (2DSR) models. This severely limits reconstruction fidelity, cross-scene generalization, and real-time usability. We propose to reformulate 3DSR as a direct feed-forward mapping from sparse LR views to HR 3DGS representations, enabling the model to autonomously learn 3D-specific high-frequency geometry and appearance from large-scale, multi-scene data. This fundamentally changes how 3DSR acquires high-frequency knowledge and enables robust generalization to unseen scenes. Specifically, we introduce SR3R, a feed-forward framework that directly predicts HR 3DGS representations from sparse LR views via the learned mapping network. To further enhance reconstruction fidelity, we introduce Gaussian offset learning and feature refinement, which stabilize reconstruction and sharpen high-frequency details. SR3R is plug-and-play and can be paired with any feed-forward 3DGS reconstruction backbone: the backbone provides an LR 3DGS scaffold, and SR3R upscales it to an HR 3DGS. Extensive experiments across three 3D benchmarks demonstrate that SR3R surpasses state-of-the-art (SOTA) 3DSR methods and achieves strong zero-shot generalization, even outperforming SOTA per-scene optimization methods on unseen scenes.

BetterScene: 3D Scene Synthesis with Representation-Aligned Generative Model

We present BetterScene, an approach to enhance novel view synthesis (NVS) quality for diverse real-world scenes using extremely sparse, unconstrained photos. BetterScene leverages the production-ready Stable Video Diffusion (SVD) model pretrained on billions of frames as a strong backbone, aiming to mitigate artifacts and recover view-consistent details at inference time. Conventional methods have developed similar diffusion-based solutions to address these challenges of novel view synthesis. Despite significant improvements, these methods typically rely on off-the-shelf pretrained diffusion priors and fine-tune only the UNet module while keeping other components frozen, which still leads to inconsistent details and artifacts even when incorporating geometry-aware regularizations like depth or semantic conditions. To address this, we investigate the latent space of the diffusion model and introduce two components: (1) temporal equivariance regularization and (2) vision foundation model-aligned representation, both applied to the variational autoencoder (VAE) module within the SVD pipeline. BetterScene integrates a feed-forward 3D Gaussian Splatting (3DGS) model to render features as inputs for the SVD enhancer and generate continuous, artifact-free, consistent novel views. We evaluate on the challenging DL3DV-10K dataset and demonstrate superior performance compared to state-of-the-art methods.

GIFSplat: Generative Prior-Guided Iterative Feed-Forward 3D Gaussian Splatting from Sparse Views

Feed-forward 3D reconstruction offers substantial runtime advantages over per-scene optimization, which remains slow at inference and often fragile under sparse views. However, existing feed-forward methods still have potential for further performance gains, especially for out-of-domain data, and struggle to retain second-level inference time once a generative prior is introduced. These limitations stem from the one-shot prediction paradigm in existing feed-forward pipeline: models are strictly bounded by capacity, lack inference-time refinement, and are ill-suited for continuously injecting generative priors. We introduce GIFSplat, a purely feed-forward iterative refinement framework for 3D Gaussian Splatting from sparse unposed views. A small number of forward-only residual updates progressively refine current 3D scene using rendering evidence, achieve favorable balance between efficiency and quality. Furthermore, we distill a frozen diffusion prior into Gaussian-level cues from enhanced novel renderings without gradient backpropagation or ever-increasing view-set expansion, thereby enabling per-scene adaptation with generative prior while preserving feed-forward efficiency. Across DL3DV, RealEstate10K, and DTU, GIFSplat consistently outperforms state-of-the-art feed-forward baselines, improving PSNR by up to +2.1 dB, and it maintains second-scale inference time without requiring camera poses or any test-time gradient optimization.

Pseudo-View Enhancement via Confidence Fusion for Unposed Sparse-View Reconstruction

3D scene reconstruction under unposed sparse viewpoints is a highly challenging yet practically important problem, especially in outdoor scenes due to complex lighting and scale variation. With extremely limited input views, directly utilizing diffusion model to synthesize pseudo frames will introduce unreasonable geometry, which will harm the final reconstruction quality. To address these issues, we propose a novel framework for sparse-view outdoor reconstruction that achieves high-quality results through bidirectional pseudo frame restoration and scene perception Gaussian management. Specifically, we introduce a bidirectional pseudo frame restoration method that restores missing content by diffusion-based synthesis guided by adjacent frames with a lightweight pseudo-view deblur model and confidence mask inference algorithm. Then we propose a scene perception Gaussian management strategy that optimize Gaussians based on joint depth-density information. These designs significantly enhance reconstruction completeness, suppress floating artifacts and improve overall geometric consistency under extreme view sparsity. Experiments on outdoor benchmarks demonstrate substantial gains over existing methods in both fidelity and stability.

Skullptor: High Fidelity 3D Head Reconstruction in Seconds with Multi-View Normal Prediction

Reconstructing high-fidelity 3D head geometry from images is critical for a wide range of applications, yet existing methods face fundamental limitations. Traditional photogrammetry achieves exceptional detail but requires extensive camera arrays (25-200+ views), substantial computation, and manual cleanup in challenging areas like facial hair. Recent alternatives present a fundamental trade-off: foundation models enable efficient single-image reconstruction but lack fine geometric detail, while optimization-based methods achieve higher fidelity but require dense views and expensive computation. We bridge this gap with a hybrid approach that combines the strengths of both paradigms. Our method introduces a multi-view surface normal prediction model that extends monocular foundation models with cross-view attention to produce geometrically consistent normals in a feed-forward pass. We then leverage these predictions as strong geometric priors within an inverse rendering optimization framework to recover high-frequency surface details. Our approach outperforms state-of-the-art single-image and multi-view methods, achieving high-fidelity reconstruction on par with dense-view photogrammetry while reducing camera requirements and computational cost.

Dropping Anchor and Spherical Harmonics for Sparse-view Gaussian Splatting

Recent 3D Gaussian Splatting (3DGS) Dropout methods address overfitting under sparse-view conditions by randomly nullifying Gaussian opacities. However, we identify a neighbor compensation effect in these approaches: dropped Gaussians are often compensated by their neighbors, weakening the intended regularization. Moreover, these methods overlook the contribution of high-degree spherical harmonic coefficients (SH) to overfitting. To address these issues, we propose DropAnSH-GS, a novel anchor-based Dropout strategy. Rather than dropping Gaussians independently, our method randomly selects certain Gaussians as anchors and simultaneously removes their spatial neighbors. This effectively disrupts local redundancies near anchors and encourages the model to learn more robust, globally informed representations. Furthermore, we extend the Dropout to color attributes by randomly dropping higher-degree SH to concentrate appearance information in lower-degree SH. This strategy further mitigates overfitting and enables flexible post-training model compression via SH truncation. Experimental results demonstrate that DropAnSH-GS substantially outperforms existing Dropout methods with negligible computational overhead, and can be readily integrated into various 3DGS variants to enhance their performances. DAV-GSWT: Diffusion-Active-View Sampling for Data-Efficient Gaussian Splatting Wang Tiles

The emergence of 3D Gaussian Splatting has fundamentally redefined the capabilities of photorealistic neural rendering by enabling high-throughput synthesis of complex environments. While procedural methods like Wang Tiles have recently been integrated to facilitate the generation of expansive landscapes, these systems typically remain constrained by a reliance on densely sampled exemplar reconstructions. We present DAV-GSWT, a data-efficient framework that leverages diffusion priors and active view sampling to synthesize high-fidelity Gaussian Splatting Wang Tiles from minimal input observations. By integrating a hierarchical uncertainty quantification mechanism with generative diffusion models, our approach autonomously identifies the most informative viewpoints while hallucinating missing structural details to ensure seamless tile transitions. Experimental results indicate that our system significantly reduces the required data volume while maintaining the visual integrity and interactive performance necessary for large-scale virtual environments.

SA-ResGS: Self-Augmented Residual 3D Gaussian Splatting for Next Best View Selection

We propose Self-Augmented Residual 3D Gaussian Splatting (SA-ResGS), a novel framework to stabilize uncertainty quantification and enhancing uncertainty-aware supervision in next-best-view (NBV) selection for active scene reconstruction. SA-ResGS improves both the reliability of uncertainty estimates and their effectiveness for supervision by generating Self-Augmented point clouds (SA-Points) via triangulation between a training view and a rasterized extrapolated view, enabling efficient scene coverage estimation. While improving scene coverage through physically guided view selection, SA-ResGS also addresses the challenge of under-supervised Gaussians, exacerbated by sparse and wide-baseline views, by introducing the first residual learning strategy tailored for 3D Gaussian Splatting. This targeted supervision enhances gradient flow in high-uncertainty Gaussians by combining uncertainty-driven filtering with dropout- and hard-negative-mining-inspired sampling. Our contributions are threefold: (1) a physically grounded view selection strategy that promotes efficient and uniform scene coverage; (2) an uncertainty-aware residual supervision scheme that amplifies learning signals for weakly contributing Gaussians, improving training stability and uncertainty estimation across scenes with diverse camera distributions; (3) an implicit unbiasing of uncertainty quantification as a consequence of constrained view selection and residual supervision, which together mitigate conflicting effects of wide-baseline exploration and sparse-view ambiguity in NBV planning. Experiments on active view selection demonstrate that SA-ResGS outperforms state-of-the-art baselines in both reconstruction quality and view selection robustness.
