Codec Avatar

Codec avatars are photorealistic 3D digital representations of humans, primarily developed for real-time applications in virtual and augmented reality. Current research focuses on improving the efficiency and realism of avatar generation and animation, often employing generative models like neural radiance fields and diffusion models, coupled with techniques like normalizing flows to handle limited input data from head-mounted cameras. This work aims to create avatars that are both highly expressive and computationally efficient, enabling advancements in fields such as telepresence, gaming, and film production.
