Agent Reliability
Overview
Agent reliability concerns whether agents can complete tasks consistently, handle ambiguity and changing conditions, and avoid harmful actions across repeated runs and long workflows. Researchers measure this with repeated-execution statistics, trajectory-level consistency metrics, and benchmarks that inject faults into computer-use, coding, mobile, and incident-response tasks. Methods include monitoring and verification, checkpointing and recovery, uncertainty-aware escalation, and trust or reputation mechanisms for multi-agent systems. A central challenge is that task success or a passing check may hide unstable behavior, unsafe recovery, correlated errors, or missing evidence, so evaluation must connect results to the conditions of deployment.
