Robotic Endovascular Intervention
Overview
Robotic endovascular intervention studies how robots can steer catheters, guidewires, and microrobots through blood vessels for tasks such as thrombectomy, aneurysm repair, and vascular access. Approaches include remote teleoperation, image-based vessel mapping and path planning, reinforcement learning and world models, and mechanically or magnetically actuated devices. Research commonly evaluates these methods in simulation and vascular phantoms, with growing attention to clinical imaging, haptic feedback, training, and measures of vessel contact and procedural success. A central challenge is transferring performance across anatomies and from simulation to real procedures while demonstrating safety and clinical benefit.
