Abstract

The core challenge in multi-view pedestrian detection (MVPD) lies in effective aggregation of visual features from different viewpoints for robust occlusion reasoning. Recent approaches have addressed this by first projecting image-view features onto a Bird's Eye View (BEV) map, where ground localization is then performed. Despite impressive performance, the perspective transformation induces severe distortion, causing spatial structure break and degrading the quality of object feature extraction. The blurred and ambiguous features hinder accurate BEV point localization, especially in densely populated regions. Moreover, the strong mutual relationship between the BEV ground point and image bounding boxes is not capitalized on. Although multi-view consistency of 2D detections can serve as a powerful constraint in BEV space, these detections are commonly treated as auxiliary signals rather than being jointly optimized with the primary task.In this work, we propose \textbf{MVDGC}, a unified framework that \emph{jointly estimates pedestrian locations on the BEV plane and 2D bounding boxes in image views}. MVDGC employs a \emph{sparse set of 3D cylindrical queries} that embraces geometric context across both BEV and image views, enforcing dual spatial constraints for precise localization. Specifically, the geometric constraints is established by modeling each pedestrian as a vertical cylinder whose center lies on the BEV plane and whose projection casts a rectangular box in the image views. These queries function as shape anchors that directly extract 2D features from the intact image-view features using camera projection, eliminating projection-induced distortions. The 3D cylindrical query enables the unification of BEV and ImV localization into a single task: 3D cylinder position and shape refinement. Code is available at: https://github.com/UARK-AICV/MVDGC

GRACE: Geometry- and Ray-Aware Camera-Efficient Multi-View Pedestrian Tracking

Reducing the number of cameras reduces the deployment cost but removes views that correct BEV responses stretched away from true pedestrian positions by projection and short score drops that can split tracks} in Bird's-Eye View (BEV) tracking. We introduce GRACE, a camera-efficient multi-view tracker with three components. Volumetric-Guided Fusion combines homography-based BEV features with features lifted through 3D space. Ray Conditioning exposes each camera's viewing direction to the fusion network. Its tracking component, BEV Track Recovery (BTR), uses low-confidence detections only to continue existing tracks. The same detections cannot start new tracks. With two WildTrack cameras, GRACE improves MOTA from 83.54 for TrackTacular, our baseline, to 91.07.

Beyond Appearance: A Multi-cue Framework and Large-scale Benchmark for Pedestrian Association and Tracking on Mobile Aerial-Ground Platforms

Multi-view Multi-object Association and Tracking (MvMoAT) associates objects across camera views and tracks them over time, supporting identity persistence and forensic trajectory reconstruction in multi-platform cooperative perception. Unlike conventional multiple object tracking, MvMoAT faces frequent viewpoint shifts that distort appearance and undermine cross-view association and temporal tracking. We propose FUSION, a viewpoint-robust Feature Unification framework for multi-view aSsociation and IdentificatiON. Its Multi-cue Adaptive Combination (MAC) module adaptively integrates viewpoint-invariant cues with appearance features to improve cross-view association, while Online Multi-view Feature Synchronization (OMFS) aggregates pedestrian features across historical and cross-view frames for temporally consistent tracking. We also introduce RealMvMoAT, a large-scale benchmark featuring substantial inter- and intra-camera viewpoint variation. It contains 504.9K frames from 7 cameras (5 UAV and 2 ground views) across 10 scenes, with over 7.3M identity-labeled bounding boxes. All cameras exhibit random and substantial motion. To the best of our knowledge, RealMvMoAT is the largest MvMoAT dataset to date. Its scale, viewpoint diversity, complex platform motion, and realistic trajectories provide a comprehensive resource for future research. Experiments on RealMvMoAT and six public benchmarks show that FUSION achieves state-of-the-art performance.

SimPB++: Simultaneously Detecting 2D and 3D Objects from Multiple Cameras

Simultaneous perception of 2D objects in perspective view and 3D objects in Bird's Eye View (BEV) is challenging for multi-camera autonomous driving. Existing two-stage pipelines use 2D results only as a one-time cue for 3D detection. We propose SimPB++, which simultaneously detects 2D objects in perspective and 3D objects in BEV from multiple cameras. It unifies both tasks into an end-to-end model with a hybrid decoder architecture, coupling multi-view 2D and 3D decoders interactively. Two novel modules enable deep interaction: Dynamic Query Allocation adaptively assigns 2D queries to 3D candidates, and Adaptive Query Aggregation refines 3D representations using multi-view 2D features, forming a cyclic 3D-2D-3D refinement. For multi-view 2D detection, we use Query-group Attention for intra-group communication. We also design a Crop-and-Scale strategy for long-range perception and a Propagating Denoising strategy with an auxiliary RoI detector. SimPB++ supports mixed supervision with 2D-only and fully annotated data, reducing reliance on expensive 3D labels. Experiments show state-of-the-art performance on nuScenes for both tasks and strong long-range detection (up to 150m) on Argoverse2.
