Alzheimer's Disease
Overview
The field investigates how amyloid and tau pathology, brain structure and function, and cognitive changes relate to Alzheimer’s disease and its progression. Researchers use MRI and PET, blood and genetic biomarkers, EEG, speech, and clinical records, applying methods such as multimodal learning, graph models, and longitudinal survival or state-space models. These approaches aim to detect disease earlier, distinguish who will progress, and support personalized care when data are sparse or irregular. A central challenge is showing that models generalize across people, sites, and devices, and that their predictions are calibrated and useful in clinical practice.
