Origami Inspired

Origami-inspired engineering leverages the principles of paper folding to design and fabricate innovative structures and robots. Current research focuses on developing novel origami mechanisms with enhanced kinematic properties, utilizing computational design tools and 3D printing for rapid prototyping, and exploring applications in robotics, particularly for locomotion and shape-morphing. These advancements are driven by the use of machine learning for inverse design and the integration of various actuation methods, including pneumatic and fluidic systems, to achieve complex and adaptable functionalities. The resulting designs hold significant promise for applications ranging from miniature robots for confined spaces to deployable structures and metamaterials.
