SpatialGuard: Harness-Guided Verifiable Spatial Reasoning for Text-to-Image Generation

Complex 3D spatial text to image generation requires models to convert natural language into stable visual geometry, not merely semantic appearance. Existing prompt-driven or layout-conditioned methods improve controllability, but often lack an optimizable and verifiable spatial intermediary before visual sampling. As a result, object relations, occlusion, visibility, and camera constraints can decay during multi-round generation. This paper presents SpatialGuard, a structured layout-guided framework for complex 3D spatial text-to-image generation. SpatialGuard parses prompts into image synthesis-oriented 3D layouts through a Spatial Layout Architect, realizes them as visual conditions and candidate images through a Visual Realizer, and uses a Visual Alignment Critic to validate consistency among prompt, layout, and image. To keep constraints stable across iterations, SpatialGuard introduces a Layout Harness that organizes rule constraints, tool invocation, shared knowledge, and feedback loops around the editable layout state. This design turns complex spatial generation from implicit prompt following into a verifiable process of planning, realization, validation, and repair. Comprehensive experiments show that SpatialGuard achieves state-of-the-art performance in complex 3D spatial layout generation and improves spatial faithfulness over existing text-to-image and layout control baselines.

PolyLayout: Hierarchical VLM-Guided Layout Generation Beyond Rectangular Rooms

Generating physically plausible 3D room layouts is essential for home furnishing retail, enabling customers to visualize products in their own homes and confidently make purchasing decisions. However, a gap exists between academic research and real-world application: existing solutions primarily focus on algorithmic strategies for furniture placement, largely neglecting the non-rectangular geometries and strict door/window constraints prevalent in real homes. To bridge the gap, we introduce a hybrid, hierarchical framework tailored for retail, specifically designed to support scalable spatial planning applications. Our system decouples generation into three stages: (1) functional furniture clustering and fine-grained intra-zone placement; (2) macro-routing guided by a vision-language model (VLM) to anchor both these clustered zones and any remaining standalone furniture within diverse polygonal boundaries; and (3) rule-based optimization for collision-free micro-arrangements that respect architectural constraints. We evaluate our system on production-scale catalogs and a representative set of irregular real-world topologies. Our results show that our approach attains the highest perceptual plausibility while maintaining good geometric compliance at relatively low latency, and extends to irregular boundaries that existing methods do not natively support.

PolyLayout: Multi-room Manhattan Layout Estimation

Estimating room layouts from multi-view imagery is a core task for indoor scene understanding. Existing methods are typically limited either by poor generalization to new datasets or restrictive geometric assumptions of the room shape or camera configuration. Most also estimate rooms independently, failing to exploit shared building structure such as dominant directions, ground plane or ceiling height. We propose PolyLayout, a multi-room layout estimation method that parameterizes room layouts as Manhattan 3D polygons and optimizes them jointly across multiple rooms. The optimization objective is predicted by a neural network on top of robust pre-trained visual features and trained end-to-end with supervision only on output room layouts. At the same time, camera projection and polygon updates remain explicit and model-based. This separation between learned scoring and geometry improves generalization to new datasets and camera parameters. During optimization, PolyLayout adaptively refines the polygon topology through iterative wall split and merge operations while jointly utilizing structural cues across rooms. We introduce two new multi-view multi-room layout benchmarks by providing layout annotations to existing datasets, and experiments show that PolyLayout outperforms prior approaches, both in terms of accuracy and robustness. Roomer: Reflective Object-Grounded Model Editing and Repair for 3D Indoor Layout Synthesis

Existing indoor layout generators produce globally plausible layouts yet may retain local violations such as collisions, out-of-bounds placements, obstructed openings, and blocked circulation. Most prior work focuses on full-scene synthesis or scene-level optimization, with limited support for identifying responsible objects and locally repairing affected regions. We present Roomer, a reflective repair framework that casts these violations as sparse, object-grounded repair problems. Roomer encodes layouts as RoState'' and uses RoReview'' to bind measured violations to implicated objects. A geometry-conditioned vision-language model planner proposes a structured local edit, while a deterministic solver validates it and generates a finite set of candidate edits when needed. Each candidate is committed only if full-scene verification confirms that it resolves the target violation without new hard violations or broken protected constraints. We train the planner on Roomer-CC, a controlled-corruption dataset that pairs faulty layouts with object-grounded violation evidence and known-feasible inverse StatePatches. Since existing benchmarks rarely assess whether physically valid layouts are usable, we introduce Roomer-Eval to assess distributional quality, physical validity, and practical usability. Experiments show that Roomer repairs residual violations while preserving valid regions, improves physical validity and usability, and transfers across external generators.

Assistant Placement Aria: A Benchmark for Egocentric Placement Assistance

Human assistance in robotics spans around several tasks such as navigation, object manipulation, and placement, where a key challenge is selecting target destinations that align with human intentions or preferences. We focus on this challenge in the context of Virtual Placement (VP), the task of identifying all plausible target locations given scene context and human-centric constraints. This differs from traditional placement tasks that typically focus on a single, predefined target location. The VP problem is complex, as it requires both global and local reasoning about the scene's geometry, semantics, and plausibility. To address this gap, we introduce {\bf Assistant Placement Aria}, the first benchmark to explore diverse aspects of VP, including global, local, and human-centric constraints. It contains both synthetic and real indoor scenes annotated for three tasks: (i)~2D Panel Placement, (ii)~Sitting Suggestion, and (iii)~TV Placement. Each scene includes 2D images, a 3D point cloud, and a textual description of the objects within the scene. By contributing this benchmark, we aim to encourage further research in this underexplored and challenging field that is critically dependent on relevant data. We also evaluate several foundation models for object detection and segmentation on our benchmark.

Operationally Guided Placement-Aware Learning for Industrial Online 3D Bin Packing

The online three-dimensional bin packing problem (3D-BPP) is a longstanding challenge in logistics and industrial palletizing. Recent learning-based methods use a learned policy to select among feasible candidate placements. Performance depends on the candidate generator and representation, especially in industrial settings where packings must be space-efficient, stable, compact, and balanced. However, prior work has mainly optimized the policy, while candidate generation and representation remain largely geometry-driven. We address this gap with OPAL, an operationally guided placement-aware learning framework for industrial online 3D-BPP which combines an Operationally Guided Empty-Maximal-Space generator (OG-EMS), an operational representation for each candidate placement, and a masked ranking policy trained with proximal policy optimization. OG-EMS evaluates multiple anchors within each free-space region and prioritizes low, well-supported, compact, and spatially diverse placements. An xLSTM-based Placement Encoder models dependencies among geometric and operational candidate attributes, while a lightweight recurrent core combines the resulting embeddings with the current item and pallet state to rank feasible actions. On the BED-BPP benchmark, OPAL achieves a mean space utilization of 0.49, with improvements of 15.1% from operationally guided candidate generation and 6.3% from learned ranking, while maintaining robust inference-time performance.

TableVerse: A Large-scale Tabletop Dataset with Real-world Grounded Layouts for Generalizable Manipulation

The development of generalizable robotic manipulation policies is inherently bounded by the availability of large-scale, high-fidelity scene data. While recent automated synthesis methods attempt to bridge this gap via text-to-layout hallucination or simplified procedural generation, they frequently suffer from physical implausibility and fail to capture the complex, dense clutter of actual human environments. In this paper, we introduce TableVerse, a fully automated Real2Sim pipeline that shifts the paradigm from imaginative layout generation to deterministic reconstruction from unstructured, in-the-wild image data. Our framework seamlessly processes unscripted internet media into high-fidelity, simulation-ready tabletop environments with accurate metric scales, authentic topologies, and verified mechanical stability. Furthermore, an automated task-conditioned trajectory generation framework is integrated to synthesize high-quality, collision-free pick-and-place demonstrations. Leveraging this complete pipeline, we construct the TableVerse-100K Dataset, a large-scale corpus comprising 100,000 unique, physically consistent environments paired with interactive manipulation trajectories. By capturing diverse asset compositions, realistic spatial distributions, and high-quality demonstrations, TableVerse-100K establishes a highly scalable and high-fidelity data foundation, providing significant value to facilitate future research in generalizable robotic manipulation tasks.

VistaVLA: Geometry- and Semantic-Aware 3D Gaussian-Grounded VLA for Robotic Manipulation

Vision-Language-Action (VLA) models have emerged as a powerful end-to-end paradigm for robotic manipulation by mapping language instructions and 2D visual inputs directly to actions. However, these models lack an explicit, scene-level 3D representation, limiting their ability to reason over spatial layouts and geometric constraints. While recent efforts incorporate explicit 3D cues, such as depth maps or point clouds, to improve geometric awareness, they primarily capture low-level structures and lack high-level semantic grounding in 3D space. In human cognition, interaction with the physical world relies on a 3D semantic cognitive map - an internal mental model that integrates spatial layouts with semantic context to enable persistent, viewpoint-invariant reasoning. In light of this, we present VistaVLA, a novel two-stage framework that constructs a geometry- and semantics-aware 3D cognitive representation from 3D Gaussian primitives and grounds it as compact context tokens for VLA policy learning. Specifically, VistaVLA lifts multi-view vision-language features into 3D Gaussian primitives, forming geometry-anchored semantic tokens that align view-consistent spatial grounding with 2D visual feature spaces. To make this 3D representation computationally tractable for effective VLA control, we introduce Merge-then-Query (MtQ), a token summarization mechanism. MtQ compresses dense Gaussian primitives into a highly compact set of spatially informative tokens, achieving a 99% token reduction while preserving action-relevant 3D layouts and semantic context. Extensive evaluations in both simulated and real-world environments demonstrate the effectiveness of VistaVLA. Notably, in real-world scenarios, VistaVLA improves success rates by 22.8% across seven real-world tasks and by 30.0% over the VLA-Adapter baseline on challenging out-of-distribution tasks.

IDEAL-Bench: Indoor Dataset and Evaluation suite for Analyzing 3D Layout reasoning

Spatial question answering is the dominant paradigm for evaluating spatial intelligence in Vision-Language Models (VLMs), but it leaves a complementary axis of spatial competence under-evaluated: holistic 3D layout inference, which predicts every visible object's pose and extent from a single image in a structured form. To this end, we introduce IDEAL-Bench, an evaluation suite that requires VLMs to predict structured 3D layouts on photorealistic indoor scenes across 10 room types, scored along five numerical dimensions and a perceptual render-and-compare protocol. By operating on semantically realistic scenes with full asset substitution under controlled lighting and viewpoint, IDEAL-Bench moves beyond CLEVR-style simple geometric primitives so that any image-space discrepancy reflects spatial reasoning alone. The benchmark is built on IDEAL-Scenes, a procedurally generated dataset of 1,000 re-renderable Blender environments with ground-truth layouts. Evaluating 15 prominent VLMs reveals three findings: the task remains substantially unsolved, with the strongest model reaching only 62.1/100 overall; all models exhibit a sharp asymmetry between object recognition and geometric regression, indicating that current VLMs are trained to describe scenes rather than to measure them; model rankings partially diverge from those on QA-based and primitive-reconstruction benchmarks: top-tier consensus holds, but mid-tier rankings shift substantially. Collectively, these findings establish IDEAL-Bench as a diagnostic suite, targeting the geometric and structural competencies that QA-based evaluation cannot surface, and paving the way towards more rigorous evaluation of spatial intelligence in next-generation VLMs. Together, these findings position IDEAL-Bench as a principled diagnostic for whether future VLMs achieve genuine spatial understanding rather than linguistic approximations of it.

Text-Driven 3D Indoor Scene Synthesis in Non-Manhattan Environments

Large Language Models (LLMs) have demonstrated remarkable capabilities in 3D indoor synthesis for Manhattan environments. However, existing methods often fail to capture plausible object layout patterns in non-Manhattan settings, primarily because they struggle to model non-orthogonal spatial relationships, leading to high geometric violations and low physical fidelity. To address this challenge, we propose SPG-Layout, a novel text-driven framework designed to generate physically plausible indoor scenes within complex non-Manhattan environments. Specifically, we first utilize statistical priors of object distributions to guide the training process, enhancing environmental understanding and fidelity. Furthermore, mirroring human design workflows, we adopt a hierarchical layout strategy that prioritizes the placement of large objects, thereby substantially minimizing layout violations. By synergizing these components, SPG-Layout achieves a balanced optimization of semantic realism and physical plausibility. To evaluate performance in these complex settings, we constructed a new benchmark comprising 500 diverse non-Manhattan environments. Extensive experiments demonstrate that SPG-Layout consistently and significantly outperforms existing methods across both Manhattan and non-Manhattan environments. The code will be publicly released.

Function2Scene: 3D Indoor Scene Layout from Functional Specifications

Most text-driven 3D indoor scene synthesis methods generate rooms from object-centric prompts, asking what furniture should be placed rather than how the space is used. Yet in real interior design, a layout is judged by how well it supports its occupants, e.g., their activities and physical needs. We introduce Function2Scene, a framework for generating 3D indoor layouts from functional specifications, i.e., natural-language design briefs describing who will use a room and what they need to do there. Given such a specification, our system parses occupant personas and activities, derives a customized set of functional design constraints from a taxonomy of 17 criteria spanning spatial, ergonomic, activity, and environmental considerations, and uses these constraints to guide layout generation. Rather than relying on an LLM to directly produce a final scene, Function2Scene performs iterative evaluation and refinement through a tool-augmented check-and-repair loop, combining geometric measurements, LLM-based contextual reasoning, and VLM-based visual assessment. Experiments on 30 professionally written interior-design cases show that Function2Scene produces layouts that better satisfy functional requirements than recent LLM-based scene synthesis baselines, with our results preferred in 94.3% of pairwise comparisons. Our work reframes text-driven indoor scene synthesis from placing plausible objects to designing spaces that support human use.

V2I Work Zone Geometry Reconstruction with Pose-Conditioned UWB Range Denoising

Reliable work zone mapping is important for connected and autonomous vehicles (CAVs) to navigate safely and smoothly through work zone areas. Cone-mounted ultra-wideband (UWB) roadside units (RSU) offer a cost-effective way for work zone layout inference, as roadside anchors and vehicle tags provide direct vehicle-to-infrastructure (V2I) range constraints for work zone geometry reconstruction. However, UWB range estimation is degraded by bursty outliers, non-line-of-sight (NLOS) errors, arbitrary anchor-ordering issues, and vehicle pose uncertainties in practical field deployments. To address these challenges, this study proposes a pose-conditioned, permutation-equivariant predictive denoiser for multi-anchor UWB ranging. The model employs shared anchor-wise temporal prediction to capture range dynamics, symmetric set aggregation to handle unordered and missing anchors, and pose-conditioned residual decoding to incorporate vehicle motion as a geometric prior. A two-stage training strategy first learns prediction from observed ranges, and then fine-tunes the denoiser with NLOS-weighted supervision. The method is evaluated on rare real-world V2I UWB field data collected with a CAV, as well as on controlled large-scale simulation benchmarks for ablative insights. Results show that the proposed method substantially improves range accuracy, cone localization, and work zone geometry reconstruction in challenging NLOS-dominated regimes, remains robust to anchor re-indexing and moderate anchor dropout, and reduces measurement-weighted field MSE by 66.9% relative to the raw input.

VoxScene: Anchor-Conditioned Voxel Diffusion for Indoor Scene Arrangement

We present VoxScene, a novel anchor-conditioned voxel diffusion framework tailored for 3D scene synthesis. Current data-driven layout generation techniques typically rely on bounding proxies or implicit representations, which overlook volumetric structures. This geometric blindness inevitably leads to severe physical collisions and structural entanglement, particularly in densely populated environments. To overcome these limitations, we shift the paradigm to an explicit, object-centric voxel representation. Our pipeline sequentially synthesizes discrete volumetric occupancies conditioned on prior anchors and local context. By exploiting the mutually exclusive nature of discrete voxels, our approach eliminates spatial ambiguities and guarantees collision-free arrangements, even in highly complex environments. Furthermore, the synthesized high-fidelity voxel grids serve as discriminative geometric queries for downstream asset retrieval. Extensive experiments demonstrate the universality of our method, achieving state-of-the-art physical plausibility and unlocking shape diversity compared to existing layout planners.

2.5-D Decomposition for LLM-Based Spatial Construction

Autonomous systems that build structures from natural-language instructions need reliable spatial reasoning, yet large language models (LLMs) make systematic coordinate errors when generating three-dimensional block placements. We present a neuro-symbolic pipeline based on 2.5-D decomposition: the LLM plans in the two-dimensional horizontal plane while a deterministic executor computes all vertical placements from column occupancy, eliminating an entire class of errors. On the Build What I Mean benchmark (160 rounds), GPT-4o-mini with this pipeline achieves 94.6% mean structural accuracy across 12 independent runs, within 3.0 percentage points of the 97.6% ceiling imposed by architect-agent errors that no builder-side improvement can address. This outperforms both GPT-4o at 90.3% and the best competing system at 76.3%. A controlled ablation confirms that 2.5-D decomposition is the dominant contributor, accounting for 28.7 percentage points of accuracy. The pipeline transfers directly to edge hardware: Nemotron-3 120B on an NVIDIA Jetson Thor AGX achieves 96.0% mean structural accuracy with the identical pipeline, slightly exceeding the cloud result. Expanding the system prompt by four targeted examples to exceed the model's 8,320-token prefix cache page size, combined with low-effort reasoning, reduces mean per-request latency by 3X to 19.7 seconds at 95.6% accuracy. The underlying principle, removing deterministic dimensions from the LLM's output space, applies to any autonomous construction or assembly task where gravity or other physical constraints fix one or more degrees of freedom. A transfer experiment on 500 IGLU collaborative building tasks confirms the effect generalizes beyond the primary benchmark.

R^3L: Reasoning 3D Layouts from Relative Spatial Relations

Relative spatial relations provide a compact representation of spatial structure and are fundamental to relative spatial reasoning in 3D layout generation. Recent works leverage Multimodal Large Language Models (MLLMs) to infer such relations, but the inferred relations are often unreliable and are typically handled with post-hoc heuristics. In this paper, we propose R3^3L, a general framework that improves the reliability and consistency of relative spatial reasoning for 3D layout generation. Our key motivation is that multi-hop reasoning requires repeated reference-frame transformations, which accumulate errors in inferred relations and lead to semantic and metric drift. To mitigate this, we propose invariant spatial decomposition to break coupled relation chains, and consistent spatial imagination to promote self-consistency through an imagine-and-revise loop. We further introduce supportive spatial optimization to ease pose optimization via global-to-local coordinate re-parameterization. Extensive experiments across diverse scene types and instructions demonstrate that R3^3L produces more physically feasible and semantically consistent layouts. Notably, our analysis shows that resolving frame-induced inconsistencies is crucial for reliable multi-hop relative spatial reasoning. The code is available at https://github.com/Neal2020GitHub/R3L.

LabBuilder: Protocol-Grounded 3D Layout Generation for Interactable and Safe Laboratory

Automated laboratories hold the promise of accelerating scientific discovery, yet their deployment is bottlenecked by the difficulty of designing safe and executable environments. While simulator-based design offers scalability, existing 3D scene generation methods are primarily tailored for household settings, optimizing for visual plausibility while neglecting the protocol grounding and layout-level safety constraints essential for scientific experimentation. We present LabBuilder, an end-to-end system that generates and verifies 3D laboratory layouts from concise textual specifications. It operates through three tightly coupled components: LabForge first curates a meta-dataset of annotated assets and chemical knowledge, translating natural language specifications into structured protocols; building on these protocols, LabGen synthesizes laboratory layouts via an iterative, constraint-aware optimization strategy; finally, LabTouchstone evaluates the resulting layouts as a unified benchmark. Extensive experiments demonstrate that LabBuilder significantly outperforms existing state-of-the-art methods, producing laboratory environments that are realistic and valid under modeled geometric, chemical-safety, and navigation constraints.

SpatialGrammar: A Domain-Specific Language for LLM-Based 3D Indoor Scene Generation

Automatically generating interactive 3D indoor scenes from natural language is crucial for virtual reality, gaming, and embodied AI. However, existing LLM-based approaches often suffer from spatial errors and collisions, in part because common scene representations-raw coordinates or verbose code-are difficult for models to reason about 3D spatial relationships and physical constraints. We propose SpatialGrammar, a domain-specific language that represents gravity-aligned indoor layouts as BEV grid placements with deterministic compilation to valid 3D geometry, enabling verifiable constraint checking. Building on this representation, we develop (1) SG-Agent, a closed-loop system that uses compiler feedback to iteratively refine scenes and enforce collision constraints, and (2) SG-Mini, a 104M-parameter model trained entirely on compiler-validated synthetic data. Across 159 test scenes spanning five scenarios of different complexity, SG-Agent improves spatial fidelity and physical plausibility over prior methods, while SG-Mini performs competitively against larger LLM-based baselines on single-shot generation scenarios.

RoomRecon: High-Quality Textured Room Layout Reconstruction on Mobile Devices

Widespread RGB-Depth (RGB-D) sensors and advanced 3D reconstruction technologies facilitate the capture of indoor spaces, improving the fields of augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR), and extended reality (XR). Nevertheless, current technologies still face limitations, such as the inability to reflect minor scene changes without a complete recapture, the lack of semantic scene understanding, and various texturing challenges that affect the 3D model's visual quality. These issues affect the realism required for VR experiences and other applications such as in interior design and real estate. To address these challenges, we introduce RoomRecon, an interactive, real-time scanning and texturing pipeline for 3D room models. We propose a two-phase texturing pipeline that integrates AR-guided image capturing for texturing and generative AI models to improve texturing quality and provide better replicas of indoor spaces. Moreover, we suggest focusing only on permanent room elements such as walls, floors, and ceilings, to allow for easily customizable 3D models. We conduct experiments in a variety of indoor spaces to assess the texturing quality and speed of our method. The quantitative results and user study demonstrate that RoomRecon surpasses state-of-the-art methods in terms of texturing quality and on-device computation time.

Repurposing 3D Generative Model for Autoregressive Layout Generation

We introduce LaviGen, a framework that repurposes 3D generative models for 3D layout generation. Unlike previous methods that infer object layouts from textual descriptions, LaviGen operates directly in the native 3D space, formulating layout generation as an autoregressive process that explicitly models geometric relations and physical constraints among objects, producing coherent and physically plausible 3D scenes. To further enhance this process, we propose an adapted 3D diffusion model that integrates scene, object, and instruction information and employs a dual-guidance self-rollout distillation mechanism to improve efficiency and spatial accuracy. Extensive experiments on the LayoutVLM benchmark show LaviGen achieves superior 3D layout generation performance, with 19% higher physical plausibility than the state of the art and 65% faster computation. Scene Generation at Absolute Scale: Utilizing Semantic and Geometric Guidance From Text for Accurate and Interpretable 3D Indoor Scene Generation

We present GuidedSceneGen, a text-to-3D generation framework that produces metrically accurate, globally consistent, and semantically interpretable indoor scenes. Unlike prior text-driven methods that often suffer from geometric drift or scale ambiguity, our approach maintains an absolute world coordinate frame throughout the entire generation process. Starting from a textual scene description, we predict a global 3D layout encoding both semantic and geometric structure, which serves as a guiding proxy for downstream stages. A semantics- and depth-conditioned panoramic diffusion model then synthesizes 360° imagery aligned with the global layout, substantially improving spatial coherence. To explore unobserved regions, we employ a video diffusion model guided by optimized camera trajectories that balances coverage and collision avoidance, achieving up to 10x faster sampling compared to exhaustive path exploration. The generated views are fused using 3D Gaussian Splatting, yielding a consistent and fully navigable 3D scene in absolute scale. GuidedSceneGen enables accurate transfer of object poses and semantic labels from layout to reconstruction, and supports progressive scene expansion without re-alignment. Quantitative results and a user study demonstrate greater 3D consistency and layout plausibility compared to recent panoramic text-to-3D baselines.
