Mix3R: Mixing Feed-forward Reconstruction and Generative 3D Priors for Joint Multi-view Aligned 3D Reconstruction and Pose Estimation

Recent trends in sparse-view 3D reconstruction have taken two different paths: feed-forward reconstruction that predicts pixel-aligned point maps without a complete geometry, and generative 3D reconstruction that generates complete geometry but often with poor input-alignment. We present Mix3R, a novel generative 3D reconstruction method which mixes feed-forward reconstruction and 3D generation into a single framework in an aligned manner. Mix3R generates a 3D shape in two stages: a sparse voxel generation stage and a textured geometry generation stage. Unlike pure generative methods, our first-stage generation jointly produces a coarse 3D structure (sparse voxels), per-view point maps and camera parameters aligned to that 3D structure. This is made possible by introducing a Mixture-of-Transformers architecture that inserts global self-attentions to a feed-forward reconstruction model and a 3D generative model, both pretrained on large-scale data. This design effectively retains the pretrained priors but enables better 2D-3D alignment. Based on the initial aligned generations of sparse 3D voxels and point maps, we compute an overlap-based attention bias that is directly added to another pretrained textured geometry generation model, enabling it to correctly place input textures onto generated shapes in a training-free manner. Our design brings mutual benefits to both feed-forward reconstruction and 3D generation: The feed-forward branch learns to ground its predictions to a generative 3D prior, and conversely, the 3D generation branch is conditioned on geometrically informative features from the feed-forward branch. As a result, our method produces 3D shapes with better input alignment compared with pure 3D generative methods, together with camera pose estimations more accurate than previous feed-forward reconstruction methods. AHPA: Adaptive Hierarchical Prior Alignment for Diffusion Transformers

Representation alignment has recently emerged as an effective paradigm for accelerating Diffusion Transformer training. Despite their success, existing alignment methods typically impose a fixed supervision target or a fixed alignment granularity throughout the entire denoising trajectory, whether the guidance is provided by external vision encoders, internal self-representations, or VAE-derived features. We argue that such timestep-agnostic alignment is suboptimal because the useful granularity of representation supervision changes systematically with the signal-to-noise ratio. In high-noise regimes, diffusion models benefit more from coarse semantic and layout-level anchoring, whereas in low-noise regimes, the training signal should emphasize spatially detailed and structurally faithful refinement. This non-stationary alignment behavior creates a representational mismatch for static single-level supervisors. To address this issue, we propose Adaptive Hierarchical Prior Alignment (AHPA), a lightweight alignment framework that exploits the hierarchical representations naturally embedded in the frozen VAE encoder. Instead of using only a single compressed latent as the alignment target, AHPA extracts multi-level VAE features that provide complementary priors ranging from local geometry and spatial topology to coarse semantic layout. A timestep-conditioned Dynamic Router adaptively selects and weights these hierarchical priors along the denoising trajectory, thereby synchronizing the alignment granularity with the model's evolving training needs. Extensive experiments show that AHPA improves convergence and generation quality over baselines and incurs no additional inference cost while avoiding external encoder supervision during training.

Enhancing AI-Based ECG Delineation with Deep Learning Denoising Techniques

Evaluating canine electrocardiograms (ECGs) is challenging due to noise that can obscure clinically relevant cardiac electrical activity. Common sources of interference include respiration, muscle activity, poor lead contact, and external electrical artifacts. Classical signal denoising techniques, such as filtering and wavelet-based methods, struggle to suppress diverse noise patterns while preserving morphological features critical for accurate ECG delineation. We propose an autoencoder-based neural network model and training strategy for ECG denoising as a preprocessing step for canine ECG analysis. The model is trained to reconstruct clean cardiac signals from noisy inputs, enabling effective noise reduction without degrading diagnostically important waveforms. Our approach demonstrates strong performance across both noisy and clean ECG recordings, indicating robustness to varying signal conditions and suitability for downstream delineation tasks.

Refining Compositional Diffusion for Reliable Long-Horizon Planning

Compositional diffusion planning generates long-horizon trajectories by stitching together overlapping short-horizon segments through score composition. However, when local plan distributions are multimodal, existing compositional methods suffer from mode-averaging, where averaging incompatible local modes leads to plans that are neither locally feasible nor globally coherent. We propose Refining Compositional Diffusion (RCD), a training-free guidance method that steers compositional sampling toward high-density, globally coherent plans. RCD leverages the self-reconstruction error of a pretrained diffusion model as a proxy for the log-density of composed plans, combined with an overlap consistency term that enforces consistency at segment boundaries. We show that the combined guidance concentrates sampling on high-density plans that mitigate mode-averaging. Experiments on challenging long-horizon tasks from OGBench, including locomotion, object manipulation, and pixel-based observations, demonstrate that RCD consistently outperforms existing methods.

MuCALD-SplitFed: Causal-Latent Diffusion for Privacy-Preserving Multi-Task Split-Federated Medical Image Segmentation

Federated Learning enables decentralized training by aggregating model updates across clients without sharing raw data, while Split Federated Learning further partitions the model between clients and a server to reduce computation and communication at the client side. However, decentralized medical institutions rarely operate on a single shared task, making standard Federated and SplitFed collaborations poorly aligned with real clinical workflows. Multi-task FL extends these frameworks by allowing clients to handle different tasks, but often introduces instability and privacy vulnerabilities. This study proposes \textbf{MuCALD-SplitFed}, a multi-task SplitFed framework that integrates causal representation learning and latent diffusion. Experiments show MuCALD-SplitFed consistently improves segmentation, while baseline SplitFed fails to converge. The proposed approach further reduces information leakage at split points, mitigating reconstruction-based and membership inference attacks. Additionally, MuCALD SplitFed outperforms state-of-the-art personalized FL and multi-task FL approaches. The code repository is: https://github.com/ChamaniS/MuCALD_SplitFed.

Decoupled Guidance Diffusion for Adaptive Offline Safe Reinforcement Learning

Offline safe reinforcement learning often requires policies to adapt at deployment time to safety budgets that vary across episodes or change within a single episode. While diffusion-based planners enable flexible trajectory generation, existing guidance schemes often treat reward improvement and constraint satisfaction as competing gradient objectives, which can lead to unreliable safety compliance under cost limits. We reinterpret adaptive safe trajectory generation as sampling from a constrained trajectory distribution, where the budget restricts the trajectory region, and reward shapes preferences within that region. This perspective motivates Safe Decoupled Guidance Diffusion (SDGD), which conditions classifier-free guidance on the cost limit to bias sampling toward trajectories satisfying the specified limit, while using reward-gradient guidance to refine trajectories for higher return. Because direct reward guidance can increase return while also steering samples toward trajectories with higher cumulative cost, we introduce Feasible Trajectory Relabeling (FTR) to reshape reward targets and discourage such directions. We further provide a first-order sampling-time analysis showing that FTR suppresses reward-induced cost drift under a prefix-restorative alignment condition. Extensive evaluations on the DSRL benchmark show that SDGD achieves the strongest safety compliance among baselines, satisfying the constraint on 94.7% of tasks (36/38), while obtaining the highest reward among safe methods on 21 tasks.

TOC-SR: Task-Optimal Compact diffusion for Image Super Resolution

Diffusion models have recently demonstrated strong performance for image restoration tasks, including super-resolution. However, their large model size and iterative sampling procedures make them computationally expensive for practical deployment. In this work, we present TOC-SR, a framework for building efficient one-step super-resolution models by first discovering a compact diffusion backbone. Starting from a sixteen-channel latent diffusion model, we construct parameter-efficient surrogate blocks using feature-wise generative distillation and perform architecture discovery using epsilon-constrained Bayesian Optimization to minimize model complexity while preserving generative fidelity. The resulting compact diffusion backbone achieves a 6.6x reduction in parameters and a 2.8x reduction in GMACs compared to the expanded diffusion model. We then adapt this backbone for super-resolution and distill the diffusion process into a single-step generator. Experiments demonstrate that the proposed approach enables efficient super-resolution while maintaining strong reconstruction quality.

TRACED: In vivo imaging of extracellular intrinsic diffusivity, tortuosity, cell size distribution and cell density in human glioma patients

The lack of analytical models describing diffusion time dependence at intermediate time scales in complex tissue microstructure limits the accurate quantification of extracellular diffusivity and tissue microstructure. We introduce TRACED, a biophysical model that incorporates diffusion time dependence in cell distributions to quantify pathologically-relevant properties in solid tumors. Neural networks were trained on Monte Carlo diffusion simulations using sphere distribution-based geometries to enable the rapid computation of time-dependent diffusion MRI signals in cell populations of variable cell size. Model sensitivity and fit performance were assessed via simulation. Diffusion data from eight mixed-grade glioma patients was fitted using the TRACED model. Data fitting was performed using a novel physics-informed transfer learning pipeline, Sim2PINN. In two patients, cell size measurements were compared directly with image-localized histology. Simulation results indicate improved parameter estimation compared to the simple two-compartment model. TRACED enabled the simultaneous in vivo quantification of intracellular volume fraction, cell size distribution, extracellular intrinsic diffusivity, and tortuosity in glioma patients. Neural network implementations of diffusion time-dependence and tortuosity showed behavior consistent with coarse-graining and effective medium theory, respectively. Future work will explore the clinical utility of TRACED parameters in additional patients.

Stylistic Attribute Control in Latent Diffusion Models

Text-to-image diffusion models have revolutionized image synthesis and editing, but precise control over stylistic attributes remains a challenge, often causing unintended content modifications. We propose an approach for fine-grained parametric control of stylistic attributes in latent diffusion models by learning disentangled editing directions from synthetic datasets. We use guidance composition to close the domain gap between stylistically finetuned and foundation models, preserving the original image semantics while applying stylistic adjustments. To ensure consistent edits, we introduce a training regularization loss and enhance DDIM inversion with optimized null-conditional embeddings for real image editing. We validate our approach by learning from stylistically filtered synthetic datasets varying a range of stylistic attributes, including outlines, local contrast, watercolorization effects, and geometric patterns. Our evaluations demonstrate that compared to current text-based editing techniques, our method offers well-integrated, more precise and continuously adjustable stylistic modifications.

Denoising data using convex relaxations

We study the problem of denoising observations Yi=Xi+ZiY_i=X_i+Z_i, where the latent variables XiX_i are sampled from a low-dimensional manifold in Rn\mathbb{R}^n and the noise variables ZiZ_i are isotropic Gaussian. We propose a convex-relaxation estimator that first reduces dimension by principal component analysis and then projects the observations onto the convex hull of the projected latent manifold. We construct a statistical oracle that estimates its supporting hyperplanes from empirical Gaussian tail probabilities of the noisy sample. Under a lower-mass condition on the latent distribution, we prove finite-sample guarantees for the oracle and derive error bounds for the resulting denoiser. The analysis combines risk bounds for least-squares projection under convex constraints with entropy bounds for convex hulls. We also verify the assumptions of the framework for a Cryo-Electron Microscopy observation model by establishing suitable covering number and Lipschitz estimates for the associated group action and imaging operators.

An Information-theoretic Propagation Denoising and Fusion Framework for Fake News Detection

Incomplete propagation data significantly hinders robust fake news detection. Recent approaches leverage large language models to simulate missing user interactions via role-playing, thereby enriching propagation with synthetic signals. However, such propagation data is intrinsically unreliable, and directly fusing it can lead to biased representations, leading to limited detection performance. In this paper, we alleviate the unreliability of synthetic propagation from the mutual information perspective and propose a novel information-theoretic propagation denoising and fusion (InfoPDF) framework to learn effective representations from both real and synthetic propagation. Specifically, we first generate attribute-specific synthetic propagation using large language models. Then we model each synthetic propagation graph as a probabilistic latent distribution to guide reliability-aware adaptive fusion with real propagation. During training, we design a mutual information-based objective to learn compressed and task-sufficient propagation representations. It jointly suppresses noisy signals across attribute-specific synthetic propagation, maintains consistency between real and synthetic propagation representations, and ensures task sufficiency for fake news detection and attribute prediction. Experiments on three real-world datasets show that InfoPDF consistently achieves superior performance across various fake news detection tasks. Further analysis demonstrates that InfoPDF can estimate attribute-level reliabilities and learn more discriminative propagation representations.

SlimDiffSR: Toward Lightweight and Efficient Remote Sensing Image Super-Resolution via Diffusion Model Distillation

Diffusion models have recently achieved remarkable performance in image super-resolution (SR), but their high computational cost limits practical deployment in remote sensing applications. To address this issue, we propose SlimDiffSR, a lightweight and efficient diffusion-based framework for real-world remote sensing image super-resolution. Unlike existing single-step diffusion methods that rely on fixed timesteps, we first introduce an uncertainty-guided timestep assignment strategy to construct a stronger single-step teacher model, where reconstruction difficulty is explicitly linked to diffusion timesteps, enabling adaptive generative strength. Building upon this teacher, we further present a structured pruning strategy tailored to remote sensing imagery, which systematically removes redundant semantic modules and replaces standard operations with lightweight designs, including frequency-separable convolution, direction-separable convolution, and a query-driven global aggregation module. These components explicitly exploit the unique characteristics of remote sensing data, such as sparse high-frequency details, strong directional patterns, and long-range spatial dependencies. To enhance knowledge transfer, we incorporate Maximum Mean Discrepancy (MMD) into the distillation process to align feature distributions between the teacher and student models. Extensive experiments on multiple remote sensing benchmarks demonstrate that SlimDiffSR achieves a favorable balance between efficiency and reconstruction quality. In particular, it attains up to 200×200\times inference acceleration and a 20×20\times reduction in model parameters compared with multi-step diffusion models, while achieving competitive perceptual quality and clearly outperforming existing lightweight diffusion baselines in efficiency. SpecEdit: Training-Free Acceleration for Diffusion based Image Editing via Semantic Locking

Diffusion-based image editing offers strong semantic controllability, but remains computationally expensive due to iterative high-resolution denoising over all spatial tokens. Dynamic-resolution sampling reduces this cost by performing early steps at reduced resolution. However, existing approaches prioritize upsampling using low-level heuristics such as edge detection or channel variance, which are weakly aligned with editing semantics and may lead to structural inconsistency. Moreover, spatial regions are often upsampled without verifying whether semantic modification is actually required, resulting in redundant high-resolution computation and accumulated errors. Therefore, we propose SpecEdit, a training-free dynamic-resolution framework tailored for diffusion-based image editing. SpecEdit follows a draft-and-verify scheme: a low-resolution draft first estimates the semantic outcome, after which token-level discrepancies are used to identify edit-relevant tokens for high-resolution denoising, while the remaining tokens stay at a coarse resolution. Experiments on Qwen-Image-Edit and FLUX.1-Kontext-dev demonstrate up to 10x and 7x acceleration, while maintaining strong quality. SpecEdit is complementary to step distillation and other acceleration techniques, achieving up to 13x speedup when combined with existing methods. Our code is in supplementary material and will be released on GitHub.

Disentangled Anatomy-Disease Diffusion (DADD) for Controllable Ulcerative Colitis Progression Synthesis

Synthesizing longitudinal medical images at controllable disease stages while preserving patient-specific anatomy is hindered by the entanglement of pathological textures and structural features. We address this challenge for ulcerative colitis (UC) endoscopy, where severity follows a continuous ordinal progression along the Mayo Endoscopic Score (MES). Our framework, Disentangled Anatomy-Disease Diffusion (DADD), conditions a latent diffusion model on two complementary embeddings: a pretrained image encoder for patient anatomy and a separately trained ordinal embedder for cumulative disease severity. Since image embeddings inevitably capture disease information, we introduce a Feature Purifier, a cross-attention-based erasure mechanism that identifies and suppresses disease-correlated channels, yielding purified anatomical representations. These cleaned anatomy tokens and target disease tokens are injected into the denoising network via a Triple-Pathway Cross-Attention mechanism with resolution-dependent routing gates. This architecture leverages the U-Net hierarchy, in which different network depths encode global structure versus fine-grained pathological texture. Furthermore, we introduce Delta Steering, a training-free directional signal derived from the ordinal embeddings that enables explicit, single-pass control over disease transitions at inference without requiring additional forward passes. Validated on the LIMUC dataset, our approach produces high-fidelity images across all severity levels and effectively rebalances skewed class distributions, enhancing performance for downstream classification tasks. Skipping the Zeros in Diffusion Models for Sparse Data Generation

Diffusion models (DMs) excel on dense continuous data, but are not designed for sparse continuous data. They do not model exact zeros that represent the deliberate absence of a signal. As a result, they erase sparsity patterns and perform unnecessary computation on mostly zero entries. With Sparsity-Exploiting Diffusion (SED), we model only non-zero values, preserving sparsity. SED delivers computational savings while maintaining or improving generation quality by skipping zeros during training and inference. Across physics and biology benchmarks, SED matches or surpasses conventional DMs and domain-specific baselines, while vision experiments provide intuitive insights into the limitations of dense DMs and the benefits of SED.

MOC-3D: Manifold-Order Consistency for Text-to-3D Generation

With the burgeoning development of fields such as the Metaverse, Virtual Reality (VR), and Digital Twins, text-to-3D generation has emerged as a research hotspot in both academia and industry. Currently, optimization methods based on Score Distillation Sampling (SDS) utilizing 2D diffusion priors have become the mainstream technological paradigm in this field. However, due to the view bias of 2D priors and the mode-seeking ambiguity combined with gradient noise induced by high Classifier-Free Guidance (CFG), these methods still suffer from macro-topological inconsistency (e.g., the Janus problem) and micro-geometric discontinuity. To address these challenges, we propose MOC-3D, a text-to-3D generation method based on geometric manifold and semantic view-order consistency. Built upon the ScaleDreamer framework, our method incorporates a Semantic View-Order Constraint Module and a Manifold-based Feature Continuity Module. The former aims to rectify macro-topological inconsistency, while the latter focuses on eliminating micro-geometric discontinuity. Specifically, the Semantic View-Order Constraint Module leverages the prior knowledge of CLIP to impose a Monotonicity Rank Constraint on semantic score representations across different views, thereby providing effective guidance for the global topological structure of 3D objects. Meanwhile, the Manifold-based Feature Continuity Module employs the Riemannian Metric on the Symmetric Positive Definite (SPD) manifold. By measuring the distance of feature statistical distributions in the Riemannian space, it promotes the smooth evolution and continuity of micro-textures across multi-views in a statistical sense. Under the macro-micro synergistic optimization of these two modules, our model can simultaneously improve macro-structural consistency and micro-detail continuity.

Hyper-DP3: Frequency-Aware Right-Sizing of 3D Diffusion Policies for Visuomotor Control

Diffusion-based visuomotor policies perform well in robotic manipulation, yet current methods still inherit image-generation-style decoders and multi-step sampling. We revisit this design from a frequency-domain perspective. Robot action trajectories are highly smooth, with most energy concentrated in a few low-frequency discrete cosine transform modes. Under this structure, we show that the error of the optimal denoiser is bounded by the low-frequency subspace dimension and residual high-frequency energy, implying that denoising error saturates after very few reverse steps. This also suggests that action denoising requires a much simpler denoising model than image generation. Motivated by this insight, we propose Hyper-DP3 (HDP3), a pocket-scale 3D diffusion policy with a lightweight Diffusion Mixer decoder that supports two-step DDIM inference. Our synthetic experiments validate the theory and support the sufficiency of two-step denoising. Futhermore, across RoboTwin2.0, Adroit, MetaWorld, and real-world tasks, HDP3 achieves state-of-the-art performance with fewer than 1% of the parameters of prior 3D diffusion-based policies and substantially lower inference latency.

CGFformer: Cluster-Guidance Frequency Transformer for Pansharpening

Pansharpening aims to generate high-resolution multispectral (HRMS) images by fusing low-resolution multispectral (LRMS) images with high-resolution panchromatic (PAN) images. However, the current mainstream frequency-based pansharpening methods employ fixed frequency filters, which cannot precisely adapt to complex and spatially diversified frequency distributions in PAN and MS images. Furthermore, existing denoising strategies insufficiently exploit frequency components for denoising and struggle to suppress various noise types accurately. To address these challenges, we propose CGFformer, a cluster-guidance frequency Transformer that focuses on varying frequency distribution and interactions between frequency and spatial components. Specifically, we design an adaptive separation module that integrates local features and non-local information through K-means clustering, enabling more precise separation of high- and low-frequency components. Subsequently, we introduce a dual-stream refinement module combined with Transformer-based cross-attention to remove various noise, allowing the network to jointly suppress frequency-relevant and irrelevant disturbances. In addition, we develop a frequency-spatial fusion module designed to enhance detail and facilitate spatial-frequency interaction, ensuring more effective reconstruction of spatial structures in the fused results. Extensive experiments on multiple benchmark datasets demonstrate that the proposed CGFformer achieves notable improvements over existing pansharpening approaches.

Focus on the Core: Empowering Diffusion Large Language Models by Self-Contrast

The iterative denoising paradigm of Diffusion Large Language Models (DLMs) endows them with a distinct advantage in global context modeling. However, current decoding strategies fail to leverage this capability, typically exhibiting a local preference that overlooks the heterogeneous information density within the context, ultimately degrading generation quality. To address this limitation, we systematically investigate high-information-density (HD) tokens and present two key findings: (1) explicitly conditioning on HD tokens substantially improves output quality; and (2) HD tokens exhibit an early-decoding tendency, converging earlier than surrounding tokens. Motivated by these findings, we propose Focus on the Core \textbf{(FoCore)}, a training-free decoding strategy that utilizes HD tokens in a self-contrast manner, wherein HD tokens are temporarily remasked as negative samples, to guide generation. We further introduce FoCore_Accelerate \textbf{(FoCore_A)}, an efficient variant that, upon detecting HD token convergence, performs parallel decoding over stable candidates within a local context window, substantially accelerating generation. Extensive experiments on math, code and logical reasoning benchmarks demonstrate that FoCore consistently improves generation quality and efficiency across both LLaDA and Dream backbones. For instance, on HumanEval, FoCore improves pass@1 from 39.02 to 42.68 over standard Classifier-Free Guidance, while FoCore-A reduces the number of decoding steps by 2.07x and per-sample latency from 20.76s to 8.64s (-58.4%).

Phase-map synthesis from magnitude-only MR images using conditional score-based diffusion models with application in training of accelerated MRI reconstruction models

Accelerated magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) enabled by the training of deep learning (DL)-based image recon. models requires large and diverse raw k-space datasets. In most clinical MRI applications, due to storage and patient privacy concerns, raw k-space data is discarded and magnitude-only images are the only component saved. Consequently, a large portion of the DL-based MRI recon. literature has either relied on small training datasets or has used one of the few available open-source k-space datasets. At the same time, the growing number of anonymized magnitude-only image registries/databases motivates the development of techniques that can use them as training datasets for generalizable DL-based recon. models. Here we propose to address this challenge by employing a generative approach based on conditional score-based diffusion models (SBDMs): given a magnitude-only MR image, it synthesizes a phase map (in the image domain) that realistically corresponds to the magnitude-only image. We evaluate its generative capabilities in a downstream DL-based recon. task whereby a large k-space dataset is generated by combining the SBDM-synthesized phase-maps and the corresponding magnitude-only images, and this k-space dataset is then used to train a DL model for accelerated MRI recon. We compare the performance of the resulting DL model versus those trained according to (a) a naive approach that uses smooth phase, (b) a k-space training dataset generated using synthesized phase maps derived from a generative adversarial network, and (c) the ground truth k-space data. Our results suggest that the DL model trained from SBDM-synthesized k-space data outperforms the other approaches in terms of quantitative metrics as well as qualitatively observed recon. fidelity, i.e., whether the reconstructed images include erroneous or hallucinated features that could adversely impact diagnostic accuracy.

WILD SAM: A Simulated-and-Real Data Augmentation for Autonomous Driving Perception under Challenging Weather

The performance of state-of-the-art object detectors degrades significantly under adverse weather, causing a safety-critical domain shift problem for autonomous vehicles. Recent efforts address this problem by relying on synthetic data to train the object detectors, which limits their real-world applicability. Meanwhile, pseudo-labeling is widely used for cross-dataset domain adaptation problems. However, these methods have not been exploited by weather-based domain adaptation approaches due to the noisy nature of such labels generated under harsh weather conditions. In this paper, we propose two new approaches to mitigate this weather-induced domain shift. First, we propose a Weather-Induced pseudo Label Denoising (WILD) framework that filters noisy pseudo labels generated by real data captured under adverse weather conditions. Second, we develop a novel hybrid training methodology, WILD SAM, that exploits both pseudo-label denoising and simulation-based training solutions while using real-data from the target harsh-weather domain. We validate both proposed approaches, WILD and WILD SAM, on the recently released Four Seasons dataset across rainy and snowy scenarios. Experiments show that the proposed frameworks improve Average Precision (AP) up to 13% and significantly reduce the weather-induced performance gap relative to the baseline. Neighbor2Inverse: Self-Supervised Denoising for Low-Dose Region-of-Interest Phase Contrast CT

Propagation-based X-ray phase-contrast imaging (PBI) enables high-contrast visualization of lung structures and holds strong medical potential. However, safe translation to the clinic will require a substantial radiation dose reduction, which inevitably increases image noise. Supervised convolutional-neural-network-based denoising can restore image quality but depends on paired low- and high-dose datasets, which are rarely available in practice. Self-supervised methods avoid this limitation, yet most are not well adapted to the inverse problem of PBI computed tomography (CT). We introduce Neighbor2Inverse, a self-supervised denoising framework designed for low-dose PBI-CT that generalizes to clinical CT. Building on the Neighbor2Neighbor principle, each noisy projection is subsampled into two variants that preserve structural information but contain independent noise realizations. These are reconstructed separately, and the resulting pairs are used to train a denoising network directly in the image domain. We benchmark the proposed method against established analytical and self-supervised denoising approaches. In region-of-interest PBI CT experiments, Neighbor2Inverse achieves superior noise suppression while preserving fine structural details, as demonstrated by improved contrast-to-noise ratio, spatial resolution, and composite image quality metrics. Competitive performance is also observed on clinical CT data under simulated low-dose conditions. This work has been submitted to the IEEE for possible publication. Unsupervised Denoising of Real Clinical Low Dose Liver CT with Perceptual Attention Networks

With the development of deep learning, medical image processing has been widely used to assist clinical research. This paper focuses on the denoising problem of low-dose computed tomography using deep learning. Although low-dose computed tomography reduces radiation exposure to patients, it also introduces more noise, which may interfere with visual interpretation by physicians and affect diagnostic results. To address this problem, inspired by Cycle-GAN for unsupervised learning, this paper proposes an end-to-end unsupervised low-dose computed tomography denoising framework. The proposed framework combines a U-Net structure for multi-scale feature extraction, an attention mechanism for feature fusion, and a residual network for feature transformation. It also introduces perceptual loss to improve the network for the characteristics of medical images. In addition, we construct a real low-dose computed tomography dataset and design a large number of comparative experiments to validate the proposed method, using both image-based evaluation metrics and medical evaluation criteria. Compared with classical methods, the main advantage of this paper is that it addresses the limitation that real clinical data cannot be directly used for supervised learning, while still achieving excellent performance. The experimental results are also professionally evaluated by imaging physicians and meet clinical needs.

UniVidX: A Unified Multimodal Framework for Versatile Video Generation via Diffusion Priors

Recent progress has shown that video diffusion models (VDMs) can be repurposed for diverse multimodal graphics tasks. However, existing methods often train separate models for each problem setting, which fixes the input-output mapping and limits the modeling of correlations across modalities. We present UniVidX, a unified multimodal framework that leverages VDM priors for versatile video generation. UniVidX formulates pixel-aligned tasks as conditional generation in a shared multimodal space, adapts to modality-specific distributions while preserving the backbone's native priors, and promotes cross-modal consistency during synthesis. It is built on three key designs. Stochastic Condition Masking (SCM) randomly partitions modalities into clean conditions and noisy targets during training, enabling omni-directional conditional generation instead of fixed mappings. Decoupled Gated LoRA (DGL) introduces per-modality LoRAs that are activated when a modality serves as the generation target, preserving the strong priors of the VDM. Cross-Modal Self-Attention (CMSA) shares keys and values across modalities while keeping modality-specific queries, facilitating information exchange and inter-modal alignment. We instantiate UniVidX in two domains: UniVid-Intrinsic, for RGB videos and intrinsic maps including albedo, irradiance, and normal; and UniVid-Alpha, for blended RGB videos and their constituent RGBA layers. Experiments show that both models achieve performance competitive with state-of-the-art methods across distinct tasks and generalize robustly to in-the-wild scenarios, even when trained on fewer than 1,000 videos. Learning Multimodal Energy-Based Model with Multimodal Variational Auto-Encoder via MCMC Revision

Energy-based models (EBMs) are a flexible class of deep generative models and are well-suited to capture complex dependencies in multimodal data. However, learning multimodal EBM by maximum likelihood requires Markov Chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) sampling in the joint data space, where noise-initialized Langevin dynamics often mixes poorly and fails to discover coherent inter-modal relationships. Multimodal VAEs have made progress in capturing such inter-modal dependencies by introducing a shared latent generator and a joint inference model. However, both the shared latent generator and joint inference model are parameterized as unimodal Gaussian (or Laplace), which severely limits their ability to approximate the complex structure induced by multimodal data. In this work, we study the learning problem of the multimodal EBM, shared latent generator, and joint inference model. We present a learning framework that effectively interweaves their MLE updates with corresponding MCMC refinements in both the data and latent spaces. Specifically, the generator is learned to produce coherent multimodal samples that serve as strong initial states for EBM sampling, while the inference model is learned to provide informative latent initializations for generator posterior sampling. Together, these two models serve as complementary models that enable effective EBM sampling and learning, yielding realistic and coherent multimodal EBM samples. Extensive experiments demonstrate superior performance for multimodal synthesis quality and coherence compared to various baselines. We conduct various analyses and ablation studies to validate the effectiveness and scalability of the proposed multimodal framework.

Faithful Extreme Image Rescaling with Learnable Reversible Transformation and Semantic Priors

Most recent extreme rescaling methods struggle to preserve semantically consistent structures and produce realistic details, due to the severely ill-posed nature of low- to high-resolution mapping under scaling factors of 16×16\times or higher. To alleviate the above problems, we propose FaithEIR, a diffusion-based framework for extreme image rescaling. Inspired by singular value decomposition, we develop learnable reversible transformation that enables invertible downscaling and upscaling in the latent space. To compensate for information loss due to quantization, we propose an adaptive detail prior, a high-frequency dictionary that captures the empirical average of commonly occurring structures in the training data. Finally, we design a lightweight pixel semantic embedder to provide semantic conditioning for the pretrained diffusion model. We present extensive experimental results demonstrating that our FaithEIR consistently outperforms state-of-the-art methods, achieving superior reconstruction fidelity and perceptual quality. Our code, model weights, and detailed results are released at https://github.com/cshw2021/FaithEIR.

IdentiFace: Multi-Modal Iterative Diffusion Framework for Identifiable Suspect Face Generation in Crime Investigations

Suspect face generation remains a technical challenge in crime investigations. Traditional sketch-drawing workflows suffer from low efficiency and quality, while diffusion-based approaches still face intrinsic limitations on conditional ambiguity for text-to-image models and sampling variance for one-shot generation. We proposed IdentiFace, a novel diffusion-based framework for identifiable suspect face generation, which addressed these issues through (1) multi-modal input design to strengthen conditional control, and (2) an iterative generation pipeline enabling identifiable feature adjustment. We additionally contributed a facial identity loss and two task-specific datasets. Comprehensive experiments on synthetic datasets and in real-world scenarios indicate that IdentiFace achieves superior performance over existing methods, especially in terms of identity retrieval, and shows strong potential for practical applications.

LLM-Oriented Information Retrieval: A Denoising-First Perspective

Modern information retrieval (IR) is no longer consumed primarily by humans but increasingly by large language models (LLMs) via retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) and agentic search. Unlike human users, LLMs are constrained by limited attention budgets and are uniquely vulnerable to noise; misleading or irrelevant information is no longer just a nuisance, but a direct cause of hallucinations and reasoning failures. In this perspective paper, we argue that denoising-maximizing usable evidence density and verifiability within a context window-is becoming the primary bottleneck across the full information access pipeline. We conceptualize this paradigm shift through a four-stage framework of IR challenges: from inaccessible to undiscoverable, to misaligned, and finally to unverifiable. Furthermore, we provide a pipeline-organized taxonomy of signal-to-noise optimization techniques, spanning indexing, retrieval, context engineering, verification, and agentic workflow. We also present research works on information denoising in domains that rely heavily on retrieval such as lifelong assistant, coding agent, deep research, and multimodal understanding.

Soft Graph Diffusion Transformer for MIMO Detection

Learning-based MIMO detection has shown strong empirical performance, yet existing methods typically rely on fixed-depth architectures without explicitly modeling the progressive refinement of symbol estimates. In this paper, we revisit MIMO detection from a flow matching perspective and propose the Soft Graph Diffusion Transformer (SGDiT), which reformulates detection as a noise-level-conditioned denoising process that progressively transforms a Gaussian initialization toward the posterior conditioned on channel observations. An adaptive layer normalization (AdaLN)-conditioned soft graph transformer is employed to parameterize the denoising dynamics, enabling stage-aware information integration between observation and symbol domains. To better align with the discrete nature of symbol detection, we further adopt a cross-entropy-based training objective that directly models bit-wise posterior probabilities, providing a more suitable inductive bias than conventional regression-based formulations. Experimental results across various MIMO system configurations demonstrate that SGDiT achieves competitive bit error rate (BER) performance compared with representative baselines. Furthermore, the proposed model exhibits good generalization capability across different channel conditions. Overall, the SGDiT framework provides an effective and practical approach for neural MIMO detection.

GD4: Graph-based Discrete Denoising Diffusion for MIMO Detection

In wireless communications, recovering the optimal solution to the multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) detection problem is NP-hard. Obtaining high-quality suboptimal solutions with a favorable performance-complexity trade-off is particularly challenging in under-determined systems with NtN_t transmit antennas and Nr<NtN_r < N_t receive antennas. Recent diffusion-based MIMO detectors have shown promise, but they require extensive sampling iterations at inference time, and their performance degrades in under-determined scenarios. We propose GD4, a graph-based discrete denoising diffusion method for MIMO detection. Unlike existing diffusion-based detectors that operate in a continuous relaxed space, GD4 performs denoising directly in the discrete symbol space and enables fast inference with one or a few denoising evaluations. Numerical results show that, under a similar inference-time compute budget, GD4 produces higher-quality suboptimal solutions than existing diffusion-based detectors and some widely used classical baseline including box-constrained Babai point and the KK-best box-constrained randomized Klein-Babai point in both under-determined and overdetermined settings.

Fusing Urban Structure and Semantics: A Conditional Diffusion Model for Cross-City OD Matrix Generation

Accurate modeling of commuting flows is important for urban governance, traffic planning, and resource allocation. However, the combined influence of individual intentions, geographic constraints, and social dynamics leads to considerable heterogeneity in commuting patterns, making it difficult to develop generation models that generalize across cities. To address this issue, we propose SEDAN, a Structure-Enhanced Diffusion model conditioned on Attributed Nodes for generalizable OD matrix generation. SEDAN models a city as an attributed graph. Each region is treated as a node with demographic and point-of-interest features, and commuting flows are modeled as weighted edges. Adjacency and distance matrices are incorporated to characterize spatial structure. Based on this representation, we design a fusion mechanism within SEDAN to jointly model semantic information and spatial information. Regional semantic attributes are used to model latent travel demand through graph-transformer-based node interactions, while spatial structure is injected into the generation process as explicit constraints. The adjacency matrix guides attention weights to strengthen interactions between neighboring regions. Meanwhile, the distance matrix serves as a diffusion condition to capture spatial proximity and travel impedance. The fusion of urban semantics and spatial constraints enables SEDAN to generate OD matrices that are both behaviorally plausible and geographically coherent. Experiments on real-world OD datasets from U.S. cities show that SEDAN achieves a 7.38% improvement in RMSE over the state-of-the-art baseline, WEDAN. It also remains robust across heterogeneous urban scenarios and varying structural patterns. Our work provides an effective and generalizable solution for commuting OD matrix generation. Binomial flows: Denoising and flow matching for discrete ordinal data

Flow-based generative modeling in continuous spaces exploit Tweedie's formula to express the denoiser (learned in training) as a score function (used in sampling). In contrast, this relation has been largely missing in the discrete setting where common approaches focus on learning discrete scores and rates. In this work we close this gap for discrete non-negative ordinal data by introducing Binomial flows. Our framework provides a simple recipe for training a discrete diffusion model which simultaneously denoises, samples, and estimates exact likelihoods. We verify our methodology on synthetic examples and obtain competitive results on real-world data sets.

VQ-SAD: Vector Quantized Structure Aware Diffusion For Molecule Generation

Many diffusion based molecule generation methods ignore the symbolic information of molecules and represent the atom and bond type as one hot representation. Methods based on Morgan fingerprints produce hash collisions and are hard to embed into a continuous space without information loss and random fingerprints correspond to no valid molecule. To circumvent this issue we use another paradigm and consider atom and bond codes as latent variables of VQ-VAE. We introduce VQ-SAD which first trains a VQ-VAE and uses the frozen pretrained VQ-VAE model and considers the codebooks for both atom and bond types as tokenizers for the downstream diffusion process. VQ-SAD is a neuro-symbolic model that utilizes both symbolic and neural structural information for a diffusion based model with learnable forward process. The large discrete code space provides a more balanced atom and bond types which enhances the denoising process. VQ-VAE slightly outperforms SOTA models for diffusion based molecule generation on QM9 and ZINC250k datasets.

When Do Diffusion Models learn to Generate Multiple Objects?

Text-to-image diffusion models achieve impressive visual fidelity, yet they remain unreliable in multi-object generation. Despite extensive empirical evidence of these failures, the underlying causes remain unclear. We begin by asking how much of this limitation arises from the data itself. To disentangle data effects, we consider two regimes across different dataset sizes: (1) concept generalization, where each individual concept is observed during training under potentially imbalanced data distributions, and (2) compositional generalization, where specific combinations of concepts are systematically held out. To study these regimes, we introduce mosaic (Multi-Object Spatial relations, AttrIbution, Counting), a controlled framework for dataset generation. By training diffusion models on mosaic, we find that scene complexity plays a dominant role rather than concept imbalance, and that counting is uniquely difficult to learn in low-data regimes. Moreover, compositional generalization collapses as more concept combinations are held out during training. These findings highlight fundamental limitations of diffusion models and motivate stronger inductive biases and data design for robust multi-object compositional generation.

Information-geometric adaptive sampling for graph diffusion

Standard diffusion models for graph generation typically rely on uniform time-stepping, an approach that overlooks the non-homogeneous dynamics of distributional evolution on complex manifolds. In this paper, we present an information-geometric framework that reinterprets the diffusion sampling trajectory as a parametric curve on a Riemannian manifold. Our key observation is that the Fisher-Rao metric provides a principled measure of the intrinsic distance. By analyzing this metric, we derive the Drift Variation Score (DVS), a geometry-aware indicator that quantifies the instantaneous rate of distributional change. Unlike prior heuristic-based adaptive samplers, our DVS solver enforces a constant informational speed on the statistical manifold, automatically maintaining a uniform rate of distributional change along the sampling trajectory. This equal arc-length strategy ensures that each discretization step contributes equally to the information speed. Theoretical analysis verifies that DVS characterizes the local stiffness of the sampling dynamics in the Fisher-Rao sense. Experimental results on molecule and social network generation show that DVS significantly improves structural fidelity and sampling efficiency. Code is at https://github.com/kunzhan/DVS

Consistent Diffusion Language Models

Diffusion language models (DLMs) are an attractive alternative to autoregressive models because they promise sublinear-time, parallel generation, yet practical gains remain elusive as high-quality samples still demand hundreds of refinement steps. In continuous domains, consistency training along the probability-flow ODE is a popular recipe to accelerate diffusion. For discrete diffusion, no analogous sample-space ODE exists, making direct adaptation ill-defined. We argue that the right discrete substitute is the exact posterior bridge, the closed-form conditional law linking any two noise levels, which is available for broad corruptions including masked and uniform diffusion. Building on this observation, we introduce Multi-Path Discrete Consistency (MPDC), a new principle that trains a denoiser to be path-invariant in expectation across these stochastic bridges, and instantiate it as the Consistent Diffusion Language Model (CDLM), a single-stage training framework that does not require an already trained teacher model. Our CDLM objective recovers masked diffusion, continuous consistency models, and progressive or discrete distillation as analytic limits or empirical approximations of one common view. Empirically, CDLM establishes a new state of the art on both conditional and unconditional text-generation, consistently outperforming strong base discrete diffusion models and often even multi-stage distilled baselines across sampling budgets, with the largest gains in the few-step regime. Together, these results position CDLM as a principled and scalable foundation for the next generation of fast, high-fidelity discrete generative modeling.

SPLICE: Latent Diffusion over JEPA Embeddings for Conformal Time-Series Inpainting

Generative models for time-series imputation achieve strong reconstruction accuracy, yet provide no finite-sample reliability guarantees, a critical limitation in power systems where imputed values inform dispatch and planning. We introduce SPLICE (Self-supervised Predictive Latent Inpainting with Conformal Envelopes), a modular framework coupling latent generative imputation with distribution-free, online-adaptive prediction intervals. A JEPA encoder maps daily load segments into a 64-dimensional latent space; a conditional latent bridge with four sampling modes generates candidate gap trajectories; an hourly-conditioned decoder maps back to signal space; and Adaptive Conformal Inference (ACI) wraps the output with coverage-guaranteed prediction bands. The flow-matching variant achieves comparable quality to DDIM in 5--10 ODE steps (5-10x speedup). On thirteen load datasets (nine proprietary, three UCI Electricity, ETTh1), SPLICE achieves the lowest mean Load-only MSE (0.056), winning 9/12 non-degenerate datasets at 91-day gaps and 18/32 across all gap lengths vs. five established baselines, and produces the best CRPS (0.161, -18.3% vs. the strongest competitor). ACI delivers 93--95% empirical coverage, correcting under-coverage failures of up to 7.5 pp observed with static conformal prediction. A pooled JEPA encoder trained on nine feeds transfers to four unseen domains, matching or exceeding per-dataset oracles with only a quick bridge fine-tuning.

Parameter-Efficient Adaptation of Pre-Trained Vision Foundation Models for Active and Passive Seismic Data Denoising

The demand for high-resolution subsurface imaging and continuous Earth monitoring has driven rapid growth in active and passive seismic data from dense geophone deployments, distributed acoustic sensing (DAS) arrays, and large-scale 2D and 3D surveys. This expansion makes complex noise suppression increasingly challenging, especially when signal fidelity must be preserved. Conventional supervised deep learning methods are often task-specific, require large paired datasets, and can suffer from domain shift under new acquisition conditions. Foundation models offer a promising alternative, but pre-training seismic foundation models from scratch requires massive domain-specific data and substantial computation. We propose an efficient framework that repurposes general-purpose Vision Foundation Models (VFMs) for geophysical tasks through Parameter-Efficient Fine-Tuning. The architecture uses a pre-trained VFM, a DINOv3 encoder, adapted with Low-Rank Adaptation (LoRA) to enable effective feature adaptation with few additional parameters. To improve robustness under unseen field conditions without ground truth, we introduce a kurtosis-guided unsupervised test-time adaptation module that updates only LoRA parameters during inference. This module self-calibrates the model to site-specific noise by identifying information-rich regions via kurtosis and performing self-training without labeled data. Experiments on public exploration seismic images and DAS vertical seismic profiling data from the Utah FORGE site show that the framework matches or outperforms domain-specific models. Tests on unseen cross-site data from a land survey in China and the Groß Schönebeck geothermal site in Germany further demonstrate strong generalization and effective signal-noise separation. These results highlight the potential of adapting pre-trained VFMs to data-intensive problems in exploration seismology.

Noise2Map: End-to-End Diffusion Model for Semantic Segmentation and Change Detection

Semantic segmentation and change detection are two fundamental challenges in remote sensing, requiring models to capture either spatial semantics or temporal differences from satellite imagery. Existing deep learning models often struggle with temporal inconsistencies or in capturing fine-grained spatial structures, require extensive pretraining, and offer limited interpretability - especially in real-world remote sensing scenarios. Recent advances in diffusion models show that Gaussian noise can be systematically leveraged to learn expressive data representations through denoising. Motivated by this, we investigate whether the noise process in diffusion models can be effectively utilized for discriminative tasks. We propose Noise2Map, a unified diffusion-based framework that repurposes the denoising process for fast, end-to-end discriminative learning. Unlike prior work that uses diffusion only for generation or feature extraction, Noise2Map directly predicts semantic or change maps using task-specific noise schedules and timestep conditioning, avoiding the costly sampling procedures of traditional diffusion models. The model is pretrained via self-supervised denoising and fine-tuned with supervision, enabling both interpretability and robustness. Our architecture supports both tasks (SS and CD) through a shared backbone and task-specific noise schedulers. Extensive evaluations on the SpaceNet7, WHU, and xView2 buildings damaged by wildfires datasets demonstrate that Noise2Map ranks on average 1st among seven models on semantic segmentation and 1st on change detection by a cross-dataset rank metric (average F1 primary, IoU tie-break). Ablation studies highlight the robustness of our model against different training noise schedulers and timestep control in the diffusion process, as well as the ability of the model to perform multi-task learning.

SQuadGen: Generating Simple Quad Layouts via Chart Distance Fields

3D shapes from scanning, reconstruction, or AI-generated content often lack simple quad mesh layouts -- critical for efficient editing and modeling. Existing quad-remeshing techniques typically produce complex layouts with irregular loops, leading to tedious manual cleanup and extensive algorithm tuning. We introduce SQuadGen, a diffusion-based generative framework that leverages Chart Distance Fields (CDF) to synthesize simple quad layouts on 3D shapes. Our approach addresses two key challenges: (1) the discrete nature of mesh connectivity, which hinders learning, and (2) the scarcity of large-scale datasets with simple quad meshes. To overcome the first, we propose CDF, a continuous surface-based representation enabling effective learning and synthesis of quad layouts. To address the second, we define loop-aware simplicity metrics and construct a large-scale dataset of high-quality quad layouts recovered from public 3D repositories through a robust quad-recovery pipeline. Extensive evaluations across diverse 3D inputs show that SQuadGen consistently outperforms existing methods, producing robust, artist-friendly simple quad layouts.

Language Diffusion Models are Associative Memories Capable of Retrieving Unseen Data

When do language diffusion models memorize their training data, and how to quantitatively assess their true generative regime? We address these questions by showing that Uniform-based Discrete Diffusion Models (UDDMs) fundamentally behave as Associative Memories (AMs) with emergent creative capabilities\textit{with emergent creative capabilities}. The core idea of an AM is to reliably recover stored data points as memories\textit{memories} by establishing distinct basins of attraction around them. Historically, models like Hopfield networks use an explicit energy function to guarantee these stable attractors. We broaden this perspective by leveraging the observation that energy is not strictly necessary, as basins of attraction can also be formed via conditional likelihood maximization. By evaluating token recovery of training\textit{training} and test\textit{test} examples, we identify in UDDMs a sharp memorization-to-generalization transition governed by the size of the training dataset: as it increases, basins around training examples shrink and basins around unseen test examples expand, until both later converge to the same level. Crucially, we can detect this transition using only the conditional entropy of predicted token sequences: memorization is characterized by vanishing conditional entropy, while in the generalization regime the conditional entropy of most tokens remains finite. Thus, conditional entropy offers a practical probe for the memorization-to-generalization transition in deployed models.

Unified 4D World Action Modeling from Video Priors with Asynchronous Denoising

We propose X-WAM, a Unified 4D World Model that unifies real-time robotic action execution and high-fidelity 4D world synthesis (video + 3D reconstruction) in a single framework, addressing the critical limitations of prior unified world models (e.g., UWM) that only model 2D pixel-space and fail to balance action efficiency and world modeling quality. To leverage the strong visual priors of pretrained video diffusion models, X-WAM imagines the future world by predicting multi-view RGB-D videos, and obtains spatial information efficiently through a lightweight structural adaptation: replicating the final few blocks of the pretrained Diffusion Transformer into a dedicated depth prediction branch for the reconstruction of future spatial information. Moreover, we propose Asynchronous Noise Sampling (ANS) to jointly optimize generation quality and action decoding efficiency. ANS applies a specialized asynchronous denoising schedule during inference, which rapidly decodes actions with fewer steps to enable efficient real-time execution, while dedicating the full sequence of steps to generate high-fidelity video. Rather than entirely decoupling the timesteps during training, ANS samples from their joint distribution to align with the inference distribution. Pretrained on over 5,800 hours of robotic data, X-WAM achieves 79.2% and 90.7% average success rate on RoboCasa and RoboTwin 2.0 benchmarks, while producing high-fidelity 4D reconstruction and generation surpassing existing methods in both visual and geometric metrics.

Full band denoising of room impulse response in the wavelet domain with dictionary learning

Conventional wavelet-domain methods for room impulse response denoising rely on thresholding detail coefficients, which is unsuited for low frequencies. In this work, we introduce a wavelet-based post-processing algorithm that extends denoising to approximation coefficients by means of sparse dictionary learning with a time-varying error tolerance. The proposed method leverages an exponential decay envelope model to adapt reconstruction accuracy according to the local signal-to-noise ratio. This approach significantly improves low-frequency denoising of synthetic and measured room impulse responses compared to the baseline method, leading to more accurate estimation of acoustic parameters such as decay time.

Probabilistic data quality assessment for structural monitoring data via outlier-resistant conditional diffusion model

Data quality assessment is an essential step that ensures the reliability of the subsequent structural health monitoring (SHM) tasks. This study proposes a prediction deviation-based SHM data quality assessment method using a univariate implicit auto-regressive model, enabling outlier diagnosis and data cleaning. The proposed conditional diffusion model (CDM) augments the standard diffusion model with a conditional embedding module to incorporate temporal context, quartile normalization to mitigate distribution skew, and a Huber loss to enhance robustness against outliers. Within this univariate implicit autoregressive framework, each data point is assigned an outlier probability, quantifying its degree of "outlier-ness", and a global quality evaluation score is computed to characterize the overall dataset quality. Extensive case studies utilizing operational data from real-world structures demonstrate that the proposed framework significantly improves the accuracy of data quality assessment, outperforming other strong baselines representative of clustering, isolation-based, and deep reconstruction methods. The effectiveness and robustness of the proposed framework are further demonstrated by the findings of ablation experiments and hyperparameter analysis.

AlphaJet: Automated Conceptual Aircraft Synthesis via Disentangled Generative Priors and Topology-Preserving Evolutionary Search

Conceptual aircraft design is traditionally an expert-mediated iterative process in which a human designer proposes a configuration, runs low-order physics, inspects the result, and re-proposes. We present AlphaJet, an end-to-end automated synthesis pipeline that closes this loop. From a textual mission specification (mass, range, cruise speed, hard size envelope, engine count, areal density) AlphaJet evolves a feasible 3D aircraft in real time, scored by a transparent multi-disciplinary fitness function covering aerodynamics, structures, weights, stability, packaging, and geometric mount consistency. Three contributions distinguish our approach: (i) an Anatomically-Disentangled Variational Autoencoder (AD-VAE) whose first 25 latent dimensions are supervised to align with named anatomical parameters, providing an interpretable shape prior; (ii) a topology-elitist genetic algorithm that protects the best individual from each of five tail topologies and triggers stagnation restarts, preventing premature collapse to a single configuration; and (iii) mount-aware geometric scoring that computes signed penetration between engines and other structural parts, eliminating the redundant artifacts common in generative aircraft models. The full loop runs interactively on a CPU and streams every generation to a browser viewer, making it a practical real-world automation tool for early-phase design-space exploration.

HIVE: Hidden-Evidence Verification for Hallucination Detection in Diffusion Large Language Models

Diffusion large language models generate text through iterative denoising, exposing hidden trajectories that may contain reliability signals beyond the final output. We propose HIVE, which compresses trajectory hidden states, selects informative step-layer evidence, and conditions a verifier through continuous prefix embeddings to produce a hallucination score and structured diagnostics. Across two D-LLMs and three QA benchmarks, HIVE outperforms eight established baselines and a verifier-backbone-matched text-only control in all six settings. Relative to text-only verification, hidden-evidence conditioning improves AUROC by 1.73--4.60 points and AUPRC by 1.10--3.62 points, with average gains of 3.15 and 2.28 points, respectively. Ablations, evidence interventions, and cross-dataset transfer further support the complementary value of fine-grained hidden trajectory evidence.

Simple Self-Conditioning Adaptation for Masked Diffusion Models

Masked diffusion models (MDMs) generate discrete sequences by iterative denoising under an absorbing masking process. In standard masked diffusion, if a token remains masked after a reverse update, the model discards its clean-state prediction for that position. Thus, still-masked positions must be repeatedly inferred from the mask token alone. This design choice limits cross-step refinement. To address this limitation, this paper proposes a simple, yet effective, post-training adaptation for MDMs that conditions each denoising step on the model's own previous clean-state predictions. The resulting method, called Self-Conditioned Masked Diffusion Models (SCMDM), requires minimal architectural change, does not introduce a recurrent latent-state pathway, does not rely on an auxiliary reference model, and adds no extra denoiser evaluations during sampling. This is an important departure from partial self-conditioning approaches which requires expensive model training from scratch. In particular, the paper shows that partial self-conditioning, including the commonly used 50% dropout strategy for training self-conditioned models from scratch, is suboptimal in the post-training regime. Instead, once the model's self-generated clean-state estimates become informative, the specialization to refinement is preferable to mixing conditional and unconditional objectives. SCMDM is evaluated across multiple domains, demonstrating consistent improvement over vanilla MDM baselines, achieving nearly a 50% reduction in generative perplexity on OWT-trained models (42.89 to 23.72), alongside strong improvements in discretized image synthesis quality, small molecular generation, and enhanced fidelity in genomic distribution modeling.

Privileged Foresight Distillation: Zero-Cost Future Correction for World Action Models

World action models jointly predict future video and action during training, raising an open question about what role the future-prediction branch actually plays. A recent finding shows that this branch can be removed at inference with little to no loss on common manipulation benchmarks, suggesting that future information may act merely as a regularizer on the shared visual backbone. We propose instead that joint training induces an action-conditioned correction that privileged future observations impose on action denoising, and that current-only policies capture this correction only partially. Making the account precise, we formulate privileged foresight as a residual in the action-denoising direction -- the difference between what a model predicts given the true future and what it predicts given only the current frame -- and introduce \emph{Privileged Foresight Distillation (PFD)}, which transfers this residual from a training-time teacher into a small adapter on a current-only student. The teacher and student share the same backbone and differ only in the attention mask over video tokens; future video is never generated at inference. Controlled experiments verify that this gain reflects a genuine future-conditioned correction rather than a side effect of capacity or regularization. Empirically, PFD achieves consistent improvements on LIBERO and RoboTwin manipulation benchmarks while preserving the current-only inference interface at negligible added latency. This view reframes the role of future information in world action models: not as a target to predict, nor as a regularizer to absorb, but as a compressible correction to be distilled.

The Thinking Pixel: Recursive Sparse Reasoning in Multimodal Diffusion Latents

Diffusion models have achieved success in high-fidelity data synthesis, yet their capacity for more complex, structured reasoning like text following tasks remains constrained. While advances in language models have leveraged strategies such as latent reasoning and recursion to enhance text understanding capabilities, extending these to multimodal text-to-image generation tasks is challenging due to the continuous and non-discrete nature of visual tokens. To tackle this problem, we draw inspiration from modular human cognition and propose a recursive, sparse mixture-of-experts framework integrated into conventional diffusion models. Our approach introduces a recursive component within joint attention layers that iteratively refines visual tokens over multiple latent steps while efficiently sharing parameters via sparse selection of neural modules. At each step, a gating network is devised to dynamically select specialized neural modules, conditioned on the current visual tokens, the diffusion timestep, and the conditioning information. Comprehensive evaluation on class-conditioned ImageNet image generation tasks and additional studies on the GenEval and DPG benchmark demonstrate the superiority of the proposed method in enhancing model image generation performance.

The Safety-Aware Denoiser for Text Diffusion Models

Recent work on text diffusion models offers a promising alternative to autoregressive generation, but controlling their safety remains underexplored. Existing safety approaches are geared toward autoregressive models and typically rely on post-hoc filtering or inference-time interventions. These are inadequate for effectively addressing safety risks in text diffusion models. We propose the Safety-Aware Denoiser (SAD), a safety-guidance framework in text diffusion models. The SAD modifies the iterative denoising process such that the text sample at the final denoising step is steered toward provably safe regions of the text space. This inference-time method can integrate safety constraints into the denoiser, avoiding computationally expensive retraining of the underlying diffusion model and enabling flexible, lightweight safety guidance. We evaluate the safety of the generated text using the SAD, with respect to hazard taxonomy, memorization, and jailbreak. Experimental results show that SAD substantially reduces unsafe generations while preserving generation quality, diversity, and fluency, outperforming existing methods. These results demonstrate that our safety guidance during denoising provides an effective and scalable mechanism for enforcing safety in text diffusion models.

DiffuSAM: Diffusion-Based Prompt-Free SAM2 for Few-Shot and Source-Free Medical Image Segmentation

Segmentation models such as Segment Anything Model (SAM) and SAM2 achieve strong prompt-driven zero-shot performance. However, their training on natural images limits domain transfer to medical data. Consequently, accurate segmentation typically requires extensive fine-tuning and expert-designed prompts. We propose DiffuSAM, a diffusion-based adaptation of SAM2 for prompt-free medical image segmentation. Our framework synthesizes SAM2-compatible segmentation mask-like embeddings via a lightweight diffusion-prior from off-the-shelf frozen SAM2 image features. The generated embeddings are integrated into SAM2's mask decoder to produce accurate segmentations, thereby eliminating the need for user prompts. The diffusion prior is further conditioned on previously segmented slices, enforcing spatial consistency across volumes. Evaluated on the BTCV and CHAOS datasets for CT and MRI under Source-Free Unsupervised Domain Adaptation (SF-UDA) and Few-Shot settings, DiffuSAM achieves competitive performance with efficient training and inference. Face swapping aims to optimize realistic facial image generation by leveraging the identity of a source face onto a target face while preserving pose, expression, and context. However, existing methods, especially GAN-based methods, often struggle to balance identity preservation and visual realism due to limited controllability and mode collapse. In this paper, we introduce CA-IDD (Cross-Attention Guided Identity-Conditional Diffusion), the first diffusion-based face swapping approach that integrates multi-modal guidance comprising gaze, identity, and facial parsing through multi-scale cross-attention. Precomputed identity embeddings are incorporated into the denoising process via hierarchical attention layers, resulting in accurate and consistent identity transfer. To improve semantic coherence and visual quality, we use expert-guided supervision, with facial parsing and gaze-consistency modules. Unlike GAN-based or implicit-fusion methods, our diffusion framework provides stable training, robust generalization, and spatially adaptive identity alignment, allowing for fine-grained regional control across pose and expression variations. CA-IDD achieves an FID of 11.73, exceeding established baselines such as FaceShifter and MegaFS. Qualitative results also reveal improved identity retention across diverse poses, establishing CA-IDD as a strong foundation for future diffusion-based face editing.

Guiding Vector Field Generation via Score-based Diffusion Model

Guiding Vector Fields (GVFs) are a powerful tool for robotic path following. However, classical methods assume smooth, ordered curves and fail when paths are unordered, multi-branch, or generated by probabilistic models. We propose a unified framework, termed the Score-Induced Guiding Vector Field (SGVF), which leverages score-based generative modeling to construct vector fields directly from data distributions. SGVF learns tangent fields from point clouds with unit-norm, orthogonality, and directional-consistency losses, ensuring geometric fidelity and control feasibility. This approach removes the reliance on ad-hoc path segmentation and enables guidance along complex topologies such as branching and pseudo-manifolds. The study establishes a correspondence between score vanishing in diffusion models and GVF singularities and highlights representational capacity near sharp path curvatures. Experiments on robotic navigation in planar environments demonstrate that SGVF achieves reliable path following in scenarios where classical GVFs fail, underscoring its potential as a bridge between generative modeling and geometric control. AD-Relight: Training-Free Banner Relighting via Illumination Translation with Diffusion Priors

The recent surge in content consumption through streaming services has driven a growing demand for personalized content. Personalized advertisements (ads) play a crucial role in enhancing both user engagement and ad effectiveness. A key aspect of ad personalization involves replacing existing regions in a frame with custom, Photoshop-generated banners. However, existing ad-placement pipelines typically rely on simple geometric warping, ignoring the scene's underlying lighting conditions. Similarly, state-of-the-art diffusion-based object insertion and relighting models struggle to accurately relight these newly inserted banners, as they are not trained on ad-banner data, and training such a model for ad banners would require millions of images. This highlights the need for an effective relighting framework that enables seamless integration of custom banners into the original scene. Motivated by this, we present AD-Relight, a novel multi-stage training-free framework that adapts a diffusion-based relighting model at test time to relight newly added Photoshop-generated ad banners. Through extensive evaluation, we demonstrate that AD-Relight outperforms both relighting baselines and existing ad-placement methods based on simple warping. User studies further show that participants consistently prefer the outputs of AD-Relight over those of prior approaches.

GeoEdit: Local Frames for Fast, Training-Free On-Manifold Editing in Diffusion Models

Diffusion models are a leading paradigm for data generation, but training-free editing typically re-runs the full denoising trajectory for every edit strength, making iterative refinement expensive. To address this issue, we instead edit near the data manifold, where small local updates can replace repeated re-synthesis. To enable this, we estimate a local manifold tangent space directly from perturbed samples and prove that this sample-based estimator closely approximates the true tangent. Building on this guarantee, we devise a Jacobian-free algorithm that constructs a tangent frame via small perturbations to the initial noise and alternates small tangent moves with diffusion-based projections. Updates within this frame follow principled on-manifold directions while suppressing off-manifold drift, enabling fine-grained edits without full re-diffusion or additional training. Edit strength is controlled by the number of steps for rapid, continuous adjustments that preserve fidelity and plug into existing samplers. Empirically, the resulting tangent directions yield smooth, semantic unsupervised traversals and effective CLIP-guided optimization, demonstrating practical interactive continuous editing.

Conditional Score-Based Modeling of Effective Langevin Dynamics

Stochastic reduced-order models are widely used to represent the effective dynamics of complex systems, but estimating their drift and diffusion coefficients from data remains challenging. Standard approaches often rely on short-time trajectory increments, state-space partitioning, or repeated simulation of candidate models, which become unreliable or computationally expensive for high-dimensional systems, coarse temporal sampling, or unevenly sampled data. We introduce a data-driven calibration method based on a novel relationship between the coefficients of a stochastic reduced model and the conditional score of the finite-time transition density, defined as the gradient of the logarithm of the transition density with respect to the initial state. The resulting identity expresses derivatives of lagged correlation functions as stationary expectations over observed lagged pairs involving this conditional score and the unknown model coefficients. This formulation allows the drift and diffusion structure to be constrained directly from finite-lag statistics, without differentiating trajectories, partitioning state space, or repeatedly integrating candidate reduced models during calibration, yielding a least-squares fitting problem over stationary lagged pairs. We validate the approach on three systems of increasing complexity: an analytically tractable Cox--Ingersoll--Ross diffusion, a two-dimensional nonequilibrium diffusion with affine multiplicative noise, and a periodic soft-spin stochastic Landau--Lifshitz chain. Across these tests, the inferred models preserve the invariant statistics while reproducing finite-lag dynamical correlations. The framework provides a scalable route for learning stochastic reduced-order models from data that reproduce prescribed statistical and dynamical properties.

Learning Interpretable PDE Representations for Generative Reconstructions with Structured Sparsity

Scientific measurements are often bottlenecked by suboptimal conditions, whether that be noise, incomplete spatial coverage, or limited resolution, rendering accurate field reconstruction a difficult task. We introduce LatentPDE, a latent diffusion framework designed to simultaneously resolve sparse-observation reconstruction and super-resolution. While existing physics-guided diffusion models typically rely on soft loss penalties or uninterpretable representations, our approach enforces physical compliance by constructing an inherently interpretable latent space. Specifically, we parameterize the latent variables directly as the coefficients and source terms of an assumed governing PDE. In doing so, LatentPDE is able to reliably reconstruct dynamics across highly disparate and structured data gaps. Empirical results on diverse configurations demonstrate that our model achieves high-fidelity recovery at any desired resolution while also tracking the underlying predictive uncertainty.

Symmetric Equilibrium Propagation for Thermodynamic Diffusion Training

The reverse process in score-based diffusion models is formally equivalent to overdamped Langevin dynamics in a time-dependent energy landscape. In our prior work we showed that a bilinearly-coupled analog substrate can physically realize this dynamics at a projected three-to-four orders of magnitude energy advantage over digital inference by replacing dense skip connections with low-rank inter-module couplings. Whether the \emph{training} loop can be closed on the same substrate -- without routing gradients through an external digital accelerator -- has remained open. We resolve this affirmatively: Equilibrium Propagation applied directly to the bilinear energy yields an unbiased estimator of the denoising score-matching gradient in the zero-nudge limit. For finite nudging we derive a sharp bias bound controlled solely by substrate stiffness, local curvature, and the norm of the loss-gradient signal, with a bilinear-specific corollary showing that one dominant bias term vanishes identically for coupling-parameter updates. Symmetric nudging further upgrades the leading bias from O(β)\mathcal{O}(β) to O(β2)\mathcal{O}(β^2) at negligible extra cost. Under realistic finite-relaxation budgets this upgrade is essential, as one-sided EqProp produces anti-correlated gradients while symmetric EqProp yields well-aligned updates. Bias-variance analysis determines the optimal operating point, and end-to-end physical-unit accounting projects a 103 10^3-104×10^4\times energy advantage per training step over a matched GPU baseline. Symmetric bilinear EqProp is the first local, readout-only training rule that preserves the low-rank coupling enabling scalable thermodynamic diffusion models.

Geometry-Conditioned Diffusion for Occlusion-Robust In-Bed Pose Estimation

Robust in-bed human pose estimation under blanket occlusion remains challenging due to the scarcity of reliable labeled training data for heavily covered poses. Existing approaches rely on multi-modal sensing or image-to-image translation frameworks that remain conditioned on visible source imagery, limiting scalability and pose diversity. In this work, we reformulate occlusion-aware augmentation as a geometry-conditioned generative modeling task. We conduct a systematic comparison of deterministic masking, unpaired translation, paired diffusion-based translation, and a proposed pose-conditioned Latent Diffusion Model (Pose-LDM). Unlike image-guided methods, Pose-LDM synthesizes blanket-covered images directly from skeletal keypoints, eliminating dependence on paired supervision and pixel-level source-image conditioning while enabling generation from arbitrary pose inputs. All augmentation strategies are evaluated through their impact on downstream pose estimation under a fixed backbone. Pose- LDM achieves the highest strict localization accuracy under severe occlusion while maintaining overall detection performance comparable to paired diffusion models, approaching the performance of fully supervised training. These results demonstrate that geometry-conditioned diffusion provides an effective and supervision-efficient pathway toward occlusion-robust inbed pose estimation without modifying the sensing pipeline.
