DreamX-Phi 1.0: Action-Conditioned Video World Model for Robotic Manipulation

We present \textbf{DreamX-Phi 1.0}, an action-conditioned video world model for robotic manipulation that, given an observed frame, a language instruction, and a prescribed action sequence comprising end-effector poses and gripper states, predicts the resulting future observations. Yet realism alone does not guarantee faithfulness: a convincing rollout can still move the wrong arm or lose the manipulated object. To ensure the prediction respects each arm's commanded path, we inject per-arm SE(3)\mathrm{SE}(3) transformations into attention via \textbf{PRoPE-style geometric encoding}, preserving arm identity and rigid-motion structure. Action control alone does not fully constrain scene geometry or the evolution of small manipulated objects. We therefore add a lightweight \textbf{depth branch} for scene-level geometry and use \textbf{SAM3 masks} with a frozen \textbf{V-JEPA teacher} to maintain object consistency throughout grasping. We further distill the multi-step generator into a few-step student via distribution-matching distillation for efficient deployment. At the time of writing, \model{} achieves first place on Track1 and second place on Track2 of the WorldArena~2.0 Challenge. Our model and code will be publicly available.

Aerial Layouting: Design and Control of a Compliant and Actuated End-Effector for Precise In-flight Marking on Ceilings

Aerial robots have demonstrated impressive feats of precise control, such as dynamic flight through openings or highly complex choreographies. Despite the accuracy needed for these tasks, there are problems that require levels of precision that are challenging to achieve today. One such problem is aerial interaction. Advances in aerial robot design and control have made such contact-based tasks possible and opened up research into challenging real-world tasks, including contact-based inspection. However, while centimetre accuracy is sufficient and achievable for inspection tasks, the positioning accuracy needed for other problems, such as layouting on construction sites or general push-and-slide tasks, is millimetres. To achieve such a high precision, we propose a new aerial system composed of an aerial vehicle equipped with a novel "smart" end-effector leveraging a stability-optimized Gough-Stewart mechanism. We present its design process and features incorporating the principles of compliance, multiple contact points, actuation, and self-containment. In experiments, we verify that the design choices made for our novel end-effector are necessary to obtain the desired positioning precision. Furthermore, we demonstrate that we can reliably mark lines on ceilings with millimetre accuracy without the need for precise modeling or sophisticated control of the aerial robot.

Accelerating Human-Aware Robot Trajectory Generation via Diffusion and Consistency Distillation

This research proposes a constrained motion planning framework for robot manipulators in human-robot interaction (HRI). For a non-redundant manipulator with a fully specified end-effector pose, additional requirements such as collision avoidance and self-collision avoidance are difficult to handle as simple null-space secondary tasks. This limitation makes it challenging to generate feasible joint-space trajectories in HRI environments where safety and kinematic constraints must be considered simultaneously. To address this limitation, collision- and self-collision-aware trajectories are generated using Rapidly-exploring Random Tree (RRT) and RRT* algorithms, and the resulting dataset is used to train a diffusion model that generates constraint-satisfying trajectories through guided sampling. To reduce the inference time required for iterative diffusion sampling, consistency distillation is applied, and a joint-weighted jerk regularization term is incorporated into the loss function to promote smoother trajectories by penalizing abrupt changes in joint acceleration. Simulation results show that the consistency model generates 150 trajectory candidates in less than 100 ms, maintains a high episode success rate, and substantially reduces joint and end-effector jerk when jerk regularization is applied.

Moving-Horizon Estimation and Nonlinear Model Predictive Control of Cable-Driven Soft Manipulators

Precise control of soft manipulators remains challenging due to the difficulty of developing accurate yet computationally tractable models for model-based estimation and control. Reduced Cosserat-rod models provide a physics-based and control-oriented description of soft-robot dynamics, offering an explicit alternative to purely data-driven input-output representations. In this paper, we propose a moving-horizon estimation (MHE) and nonlinear model predictive control (NMPC) framework for cable-driven soft manipulators based on reduced Cosserat dynamics. A smooth cable-length-driven modeling formulation is developed by approximating the complementarity relationship between cable tension and cable slackness, enabling cable-length control without direct tension sensing. Based on this formulation, an MHE method is introduced to estimate the reduced state and reconstruct the manipulator configuration from end-effector pose measurements and cable-length information. An NMPC controller is then formulated to achieve task-space control under cable-length and cable-rate constraints. The proposed framework is validated through numerical simulations and experiments. Simulation results demonstrate the effectiveness of the estimator and controller for pose and strain-related regulation on a multi-cable soft manipulator. Experimental results on a four-cable prototype further show that the proposed MHE-NMPC scheme can be implemented in real time and enables accurate end-effector position tracking through cable-length control.

The Twist Decomposition of Serial Robots Under Lower-Mobility Tasks

This paper introduces a twist decomposition framework for serial manipulators performing lower mobility tasks. Rather than relying on Jacobian null-space projections, the method separates the end-effector twist into task and redundant components using geometrically defined twist projectors. This formulation provides a direct and intuitive distinction between task-relevant and task-irrelevant motions in operational space, enabling a compact inverse kinematics scheme that naturally handles both manipulator and task redundancy.

SHAPE: Simultaneous Water Hydraulic Actuation and Position Estimation of a Sensorless Remote Actuator through a Thin and Long Flexible Tube

Robot sensors and electronic equipment are prone to failure in harsh environments. With water hydraulic drive, thin and long tubes enable remote operation without actuator-side sensors. Furthermore, the elasticity of the tubes reduces the impedance of the joints (actuators), benefiting robot tasks involving unexpected contact with the environment or vibrations. However, owing to the low impedance and limited camera visibility, accurately positioning the joint (or end effector) to the target location under varying load conditions is challenging. This study proposes a novel method that employs water-filled flexible tubes to enable the transmission of driving power and actuator-side information to and from the actuator, respectively, without actuator-side sensors. By modeling volumetric loss during transmission based on pressure fluctuations and incorporating minor air entrapment, simultaneous power transmission and position estimation is achieved through a tube up to 50 m. Thus, it becomes possible to use a feedback control framework that was previously difficult to implement in sensorless systems. Experimental validation confirms stable position control of a sensorless water hydraulic cylinder under varying loads. Furthermore, a field parameter-identification method accounts for tube and air entrainment variability without requiring actuator-side sensors. These contributions promote reliable remote control of robots in harsh environments.

Let the Body Follow: Coupled Egocentric Control for Whole-Body Robot Teleoperation

Whole-body teleoperation requires users to coordinate perception, manipulation, posture, and mobility across multiple robot components. This coordination is difficult because users must simultaneously control the robot's head, arms, torso, and base while maintaining task awareness and avoiding kinematic or environmental constraints. In this paper, we propose coupled egocentric control, a body-following teleoperation approach in which the robot's torso and base automatically respond to the operator's head and arm motions. Rather than requiring explicit touchpad commands for every torso or base adjustment, the system lets users focus on gaze and hand control: head pitch adjusts torso height, head yaw drives base rotation, end-effector height adjusts torso motion, and end-effector workspace boundaries trigger base translation. We evaluate this approach in a user study on whole-body teleoperation of a TIAGo mobile manipulator for home-care-inspired tasks. Compared with a baseline hybrid interface, coupled egocentric control improves object manipulation efficiency, reduces button-based control effort and arm singularities, lowers mental demand and overall workload, and increases ease of use, ease of learning, confidence, and user preference for torso and base control.

Whole-Body Semantic-to-Actuation Grounding of Elephant-Inspired Soft-Trunk Motion via Lightweight Flow Matching

For close-contact human-robot interaction (HRI), trunk-like continuum manipulators provide a physical channel for diverse whole-body expression, but grounding open-vocabulary responses into such robots is difficult: end-effector motion underspecifies body shape, whereas direct whole-body commands are high-dimensional and hard to keep feasible. We propose a whole-body semantic-to-actuation grounding framework for elephant-inspired soft-trunk HRI based on lightweight flow matching. The framework converts responses from a multimodal large language model into bounded, morphology-aligned intent-intensity tuples, parameterizes tendon-actuation trajectories with compact Catmull-Rom spline controls, and uses a rectified-flow generator to sample feasible whole-body trunk motions. Experiments show that the proposed framework improves held-out grounding correctness from 25.0% to 77.2% over a raw-response dense-regression baseline. Compared with a denoising-diffusion baseline, it improves correctness from 71.9% to 77.2% and reduces inference time from 7.86 ms to 4.87 ms while preserving motion diversity. A 100-participant physical HRI study further shows that adding the generated soft-trunk motion channel increases the positive overall-satisfaction rating from 46% to 82% over the audiovisual-only baseline.

Task-Adaptive Design of Modular Aerial Manipulators Under Airflow Exposure Constraints

Aerial manipulation with multirotor platforms enables physical interaction in complex environments, but rotor-induced airflow remains a critical limitation for tasks involving airflow-sensitive targets or surroundings. This paper presents an optimization-based design framework for modular aerial manipulators that jointly considers task wrench feasibility, end-effector placement, and airflow exposure constraints. We first introduce a novel categorization of target-side airflow tolerance and formulate the corresponding exposure requirements as geometric constraints. To efficiently model rotor-induced airflow, we introduce a compact cone-sphere envelope that approximates the spreading structure of a quadrotor's airflow while preserving computational tractability for optimization. Building on this formulation, we propose a reconfiguration optimization that adapts a modular aerial manipulator to diverse task wrench requirements while enforcing both target-side airflow exposure and intra-platform airflow interference constraints. Unlike prior designs that assume a fixed end-effector location, the proposed framework optimizes the end-effector placement together with the platform configuration. Scalability experiments and ablation studies validate the effectiveness of the proposed framework.

DemoBridge: A Simulation-in-the-Loop Toolkit for Single-View Human Demonstration Retargeting

We present DemoBridge, an toolkit that turns a single-view RGB stereo recording of a human hand demonstration into an executable, physics-validated robot-arm trajectory. Retargeting across the embodiment gap is hard. A robot arm reaches a target with a long, articulated body whose links carry far more collision volume than a hand. Solving inverse kinematics for the mapped end-effector pose often yields no collision-free solution, and a trajectory imposes this at every waypoint. A single view adds noise, leaving the demonstrated reference inaccurate. At the core of DemoBridge is a single collision-aware planner. It optimizes the whole joint trajectory at once, reasoning jointly over alternative grasp poses, whole-arm and grasped-object collision, and fidelity to the demonstrated path. A physics simulator runs in the loop. It validates each phase as it is produced and backtracks on failure, so a demonstration that cannot be reproduced as given is re-planned rather than discarded. The resulting action sequence is dynamically stable and faithful to the demonstrated manipulation. It also doubles as a ready-to-use simulation rollout for policy learning. Grasp timing is inferred automatically, and the perception backends, robot, and pipeline stages are swappable from configuration. We evaluate whole-pipeline retargeting on three real-demonstration tasks and the planner on a controlled synthetic benchmark. From Fixed to Free Cameras: Calibration-Free View-Robust Vision-Language-Action Model

Real-world robot deployment rarely maintains the training-stage camera setup, where cameras often experience repositioning or remounting depending on actual scenarios. Existing view-robust Vision-Language-Action (VLA) policies tolerate such camera variations only when the camera extrinsics are explicitly provided, making them fragile and hard to use especially when view robustness is critical. We argue that the policy should not be told where the camera is, but rather figure it out by itself. To this end, we introduce Camera-Centric VLA (CamVLA), a new VLA model that decouples manipulation controls from camera geometry by predicting (i) a camera-centric end-effector action expressed in the local camera frame, and (ii) a 6-DoF hand-eye matrix relating cameras to the robot base. A deterministic geometric transformation composes the two predictions into a robot base-frame action. This disentangles how I should move in pose-independent camera-centric action generation from where I am looking from in camera-perspective geometric grounding. The resulting policy is calibration-free, depth-free, and single-view, requiring only a single monocular RGB image as the visual observation and task instruction at deployment. Evaluations in both simulation and real-world robot data show that CamVLA consistently improves success rates across diverse unseen viewpoints. Enhancing Robustness in Robot-Environment Interactions through Passive Compliant Degrees of Freedom: A Hybrid Position-Force Control Approach with Feedback Linearization

Robot-environment interactions in dynamic or unstructured settings are often degraded by impact shocks, vibrations, and uncertainties in contact geometry and mechanical properties. This paper proposes an interaction architecture that combines feedback-linearized hybrid position-force control with a passive compliant degree of freedom embedded at the end-effector. Unlike conventional hybrid position-force control, which relies mainly on active feedback, force sensing, and gain tuning, the proposed architecture uses a physical spring-damper interface to store and dissipate impact energy at the contact point before high-frequency shocks propagate to the actuated joints and force-control loop. The approach is evaluated in MATLAB/Simulink on a 2-DOF planar manipulator with three end-effector configurations: rigid, spring-only, and spring-damper. Results under fixed and time-varying interaction conditions show that the spring-damper configuration provides stronger attenuation of contact-induced oscillations, lower force and velocity error variance, and smoother joint-torque response. Representative reductions include 36.5% in fixed-environment tangential force-error standard deviation, 25.4% in variable-environment normal force-error standard deviation, and 41.1% in variable-environment normal velocity-error standard deviation.

ViPSim: Collaborating Visual and Parameter Spaces for Consistent Long-Horizon Embodied World Models

Embodied World Models (EWMs) have emerged as a scalable and risk-free paradigm for advancing embodied intelligence, enabling the safety-critical evaluation of Vision-Language-Action systems. However, their reliability as evaluation benchmarks and foundational simulators is often hindered by the representation gap between low-dimensional actions and high-dimensional video synthesis. This gap results in a lack of geometric correspondence, manifesting as accumulated trajectory drift and inconsistent robot-object interactions during long-horizon rollouts. To bridge this gap, we propose ViPSim, a framework that achieves consistent long-horizon generation through the synergistic collaboration of Visual and Parameter Spaces. We define the Visual Space as a domain of explicit spatial priors, integrating pixel-aligned projections of end-effector pose, camera perspectives, depth-informed scene geometry, and robotic morphological masks to provide dense structural grounding. Concurrently, the Parameter Space serves as a domain of numerical drivers, injecting raw action sequences and camera matrices to provide precise motion guidance. By unifying these two spaces, ViPSim ensures that the generated states are simultaneously anchored by geometric boundaries and steered by numerical commands. Extensive experiments demonstrate that ViPSim is backbone-agnostic and significantly enhances trajectory consistency. Notably, our approach exhibits emergent capabilities in generating complex interactions with deformable objects (e.g., cloth folding) and maintains robust performance in out-of-distribution and cross-embodiment scenarios, providing a high-fidelity foundation for the automated evaluation and predictive control of embodied agents.

Booster Lab: A Data-Centric Pipeline for Learning Deployable Humanoid Locomotion Policies

Humanoid robot motion learning requires not only task-oriented control policies but also physically feasible and natural behaviors that can be transferred to real robots. However, robot-feasible motion data are often scarce: raw human demonstrations may be incompatible with the robot morphology, open-source clips vary in quality, and simulation-collected robot trajectories still require feasibility checking. To address these challenges, we propose a data-centric training and deployment pipeline that integrates motion data curation, real-to-sim model adaptation, AMP-based reinforcement learning, and sim-to-real deployment. We validate the framework on the Booster T1 robot and further provide preliminary cross-platform validation on Booster K1.

Reasonable Motion: A General ASP Foundation for Environment Constrained Movement Trajectory Computation

We present a general answer set programming based hybrid quantitative-qualitative method for computing constrained branching trajectory modes for moving objects in real-world settings. The method performs constrained traversal of an environment graph, enumerating geometrically admissible motion behaviours as stable models, each constituting a distinct trajectory mode characterised by both domain-dependent and independent factors such as derived event sequence, map topology, and domain norms. The hybrid trajectory computation method is generally applicable across motion characteristics typically encountered in diverse dynamic domains with moving objects, e.g., autonomous driving. We demonstrate applicability and highlight how computed trajectories are traceable to their underlying stable model, thereby affording verifiable interpretability that purely learned approaches cannot provide. We also perform an empirical evaluation with Argoverse 2, a large-scale real-world autonomous driving benchmark representative of the class of dynamic domains within the scope of the proposed method.

Cloak: Zero-Shot Cross-Embodiment Manipulation by Masking the End-Effector from the VLA

We present Cloak, a training recipe that endows a Vision-Language-Action (VLA) model with zero-shot cross-embodiment transfer by cloaking the end-effector from its own wrist camera. The end-effector occupies a large and consistent region of the wrist view and masking it allows for embodiment-agnostic visual reasoning. Cloak renders a mask in simulation from the robot's known geometry, accurately and in real time, with no segmentation or generative models. During training, we augment the mask so the model generalizes to embodiments unseen at training time. We demonstrate the recipe with Cloak-VLA, a VLA trained with Cloak on a single parallel-jaw gripper dataset. No data of new embodiments is ever collected. Cloak-VLA transfers zero-shot to various unseen embodiments, including another gripper, another arm, and a five-fingered hand, while preserving the source embodiment's performance. By decoupling the wrist view from its own embodiment, Cloak allows data to outlive the hardware it was collected on.

MirrorDuo: Reflection-Consistent Visuomotor Learning from Mirrored Demonstration Pairs

Image-based behaviour cloning leverages demonstrations captured from ubiquitous RGB cameras. However, it remains constrained by the cost of collecting diverse demos, especially for generalizing across workspace variations. We propose MirrorDuo, a reflection-based formulation that operates on image, proprioception, and full 6-DoF end-effector action tuples, generating a mirrored counterpart for each original demonstration, effectively achieving "collect one, get one for free". It can be applied as a data augmentation strategy for existing learning pipelines, such as standard behaviour cloning or diffusion policy, or as a structural prior for reflection-equivariant policy networks. By leveraging the overlap between the original and mirrored domains, MirrorDuo achieves significantly improved performance under the same data budget when demonstrations are evenly distributed across both sides of the workspace. When demonstrations are confined to one side, MirrorDuo enables efficient skill transfer to the mirrored workspace with as few as zero or five demos in the target arrangement.

EAGG: Embodiment-Aligned Grasp Generation via Geometry-Aware Graph Conditioning

Cross-end-effector grasp generation seeks a unified model that generalizes across objects and across embodiments ranging from parallel grippers to dexterous end effectors. Existing grasp generators are typically designed for a fixed embodiment or encode embodiment identity with a static descriptor, which weakens transfer when topology, actuation coupling, and contact geometry differ substantially. We present EAGG, an embodiment-aligned grasp generator that represents each embodiment with a topology-aware end-effector graph and an embodiment-specific low-dimensional end-effector control space. A frozen end-effector-cognition backbone converts the current articulated state into geometry-aware tokens that act as a reusable morphology prior, and iterative geometry injection refreshes these tokens throughout sampling so that conditioning remains synchronized with the evolving end-effector geometry. On the MultiGripperGrasp benchmark, EAGG reaches 56.17% average success across six training end effectors, remaining within 1.10 percentage points of specialized training while preserving transfer to finetuning and zero-shot end effectors. Iterative geometry injection further reduces the pooled median contact distance from 0.239 cm to 0.189 cm. These results show that cross-end-effector grasp generation is strengthened by aligning embodiment structure inside a shared generator rather than suppressing embodiment differences. Code is available at https://github.com/wanhaoniu/EAGG.

MimicIK: Real-Time Generative Inverse Kinematics from Teleoperation with FK Consistency

Inverse kinematics (IK) remains a critical bottleneck for real-time robot manipulation. Classical numerical solvers achieve high geometric precision but often suffer from discontinuous branch switching and unstable behavior near kinematic singularities during closed-loop deployment. Meanwhile, learned IK approaches frequently struggle to balance spatial accuracy, motion smoothness, and real-time efficiency, particularly when trained on noisy human teleoperation data. We present \textbf{MimicIK}, a real-time generative inverse kinematics framework that learns smooth and robust joint-space motion priors from teleoperation demonstrations through conditional flow matching. Given the current joint configuration and a target end-effector pose, MimicIK predicts continuous delta-joint commands using an efficient two-step iterative refinement process based on a Minimal Iterative Policy (MIP) backbone. To enforce physical consistency, we further introduce an FK consistency loss, a differentiable forward-kinematics regularization that penalizes task-space deviations from the target pose during training. We evaluate MimicIK on a real-world 6-DOF robot dataset containing 8,848 teleoperation demonstrations. MimicIK achieves a mean position error of 4.65 mm, a 10 mm success rate of 92.01%, and a trajectory spike rate of only 7.99%. Compared with a UNet diffusion baseline, our method improves both spatial accuracy and motion smoothness while reducing inference latency from 21.66 ms to 6.74 ms. Furthermore, unlike deterministic MLP baselines that catastrophically diverge under out-of-distribution deployment, MimicIK remains stable near singular configurations and enables robust 20 Hz real-time control on deployment hardware.

EmbodiSteer: Steering Embodiment-Agnostic Visuomotor Policies with Joint-Space Guidance for Zero-Shot Cross-Embodiment Deployment

Scalable robot imitation learning relies on large-scale heterogeneous data from diverse robots or body-free data, making Cartesian end-effector actions a key interface for embodiment-agnostic policy learning. However, end-effector-only abstraction leaves Cartesian policies unaware of the deployed robot body, making them brittle under robot-specific constraints such as whole-body collision avoidance. To overcome this limitation, we present EmbodiSteer, a training-free framework that steers embodiment-agnostic visuomotor policies toward zero-shot, embodiment-aware deployment. EmbodiSteer keeps policy learning in Cartesian space while efficiently lifting inference-time diffusion sampling into the target robot's joint space via forward kinematics and Jacobian-based updates. With whole-body collision-aware guidance over joint trajectories after each denoising step, the arm can be steered away from collisions while preserving learned end-effector behavior. Compared with Cartesian-only execution, EmbodiSteer reduces collision rate by 46.1% and improves task success rate by 28.5% across 9 simulated robots, and further achieves 90.0% collision rate reduction and 36.7% success rate increase on two physical robots in highly constrained scenarios. IMPACT: Learning Internal-Model Predictive Control for Forceful Robotic Manipulation

Real-world robotic manipulation tasks often involve forceful interactions with the environment, such as using tools of varying weights, transporting objects with different masses, and performing contact-rich tasks like table wiping. Previous learning-based approaches typically employ imitation learning policies that output target end-effector poses tracked by low-level impedance controllers. In these systems, forceful interactions are either implicitly realized through steady-state tracking errors or explicitly commanded using wrist force/torque or tactile sensors. However, implicit approaches generalize poorly across object weights, while explicit approaches require specialized hardware and increase system complexity. In this work, we propose IMPACT, a framework that decouples these forceful tasks into task-planning and internal-model-based predictive control. Extensive simulation and real-world experiments demonstrate that the proposed framework achieves higher success rates and improved generalization to unseen object weights, as well as better safety and energy efficiency.

CEER: Compliant End-Effector and Root Control as a Unified Interface for Hierarchical Humanoid Loco-Manipulation

Humanoid robots have achieved impressive locomotion performance, yet contact-rich and long-horizon manipulation remains a major bottleneck. Manipulation is inherently contact-rich and demands compliant whole-body control for stable interaction, while its diversity and long-horizon nature favor modular, planner-compatible interfaces over joint-space tracking. We propose CEER, a compliant end-effector-root (EE-root) control abstraction for modular humanoid loco-manipulation within a hierarchical planning framework. CEER enables compliance-aware whole-body control in an interpretable task space defined by root motion commands and end-effector pose targets, and supports plug-and-play integration with heterogeneous high-level planners. A teacher-student framework is adopted to distill a general motion-tracking controller into a low-level policy that consumes only EE-root commands. We further construct a hierarchical system that integrates heterogeneous planners and task modules through the EE-root interface, enabling diverse manipulation tasks without retraining the underlying whole-body policy. Experiments in simulation and on hardware demonstrate 3.3 cm end-effector tracking accuracy with substantially reduced jerk compared to baselines, stable contact-rich manipulation under teleoperation, and up to 70% success in simulated single-object loco-manipulation tasks within a room-scale environment. These results indicate that compliant EE-root control provides a practical abstraction for humanoid loco-manipulation, enabling modular and scalable integration of diverse skills.

A low-cost mockup to simulate robotic laser cutting in nuclear decommissioning

This paper introduces a low-cost experimental mockup to simulate the laser cutting process of containers in nuclear decommissioning. It is composed of a three-axis table supporting a cuboid container with ultraviolet-sensitive faces, a six-degree-of-freedom serial manipulator holding an ultraviolet torch that simulates the laser, and a visual system based on cameras and fiducial markers. The system employs a constrained task-space adaptive motion controller that compensates for inaccurate parameters and eliminates the need to calibrate the system. Furthermore, as the motion controller explicitly accounts for geometric constraints, the robot reactively avoids collisions with obstacles while handling the ultraviolet torch. To improve the tracking of the laser-cutting path, we control the ultraviolet beam, which requires only four degrees of freedom, instead of the full end-effector pose. Experiments show that, despite an initially uncalibrated system, the overall system is capable of tracking different trajectories with an overall mean accuracy of 3.9 (sd 2.5) mm when the end-effector pose is controlled and 2.4 (sd 1.3) mm when the ultraviolet beam is controlled.

An Aerial Manipulator for Perception-Driven Flower Targeting Toward Contactless Pollination in Vertical Farming

The decline of natural pollinators has created a major challenge for crop production in controlled indoor agriculture, particularly in vertical farming environments where natural insect pollination is absent. This motivates the development of robotic systems capable of performing precise flower targeting tasks while minimizing physical interference with delicate floral structures. This paper presents an aerial manipulator platform for perception driven flower detection, localization, and approach in vertical farming environments. The proposed system integrates onboard RGBD based perception, model predictive path integral (MPPI) based unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) control on a PX4 platform, and a lightweight 2DoF manipulator for precise end effector positioning. The platform is evaluated in both MuJoCo simulation and UAV lab experiments using a flower targeting testbed. The experimental results demonstrate stable UAV flight, reliable flower localization, and centimeter level end effector positioning accuracy. In simulation, the proposed controller achieves consistent trajectory convergence and accurate target alignment. In the real world UAV lab environment, the integrated perception control manipulation framework enables stable flower targeted positioning and end effector alignment under constrained aerial operation. These results validate the proposed aerial manipulator as a robust robotic carrier and positioning framework for future contactless pollination systems. While the current study focuses on perception guided targeting and positioning, the developed platform provides a practical foundation for integrating advanced contactless end effectors, including acoustic based pollen manipulation modules, in future work.
